I just finished this install like 10 minutes ago. It was pretty simple and straight forward. I did the install literally in 5 minutes! It was so easy, even a kid 🧒 can do it!
Since this video was made… I just finished installing this on my 2020 STi. The install was SIMPLE, yes it was a pain to get up through the bumper but it wasn’t bad (I only removed the 4 pop clips on the bottom of the rear bumper) also took off the plastic trim on the inside of the trunk, the three clips that hold the side carpet, and the foam over the spare tire. That being said since this video the plug and play harness is literally just plug and play no crimping etc needed you just clip, zip tie your excess and it’s simple.
To fix this you just loosen the bolt on the side of the bracket, tilt the brake light upward so the top of it is flush and then retighten the bolt on the side of the bracket.
I've seen these on the roads more and more recently. Can anyone explain what the appeal is? Is it meant to be an additional way to avoid someone rear ending you? Or it's mainly for aesthetic? Or both?
I speak from personal experience, I drive a Subaru wrx 2016, and I have not yet gotten on but u am about to order one now. For the reason. I drive for a living and I was behind a wrx that had one. I admittedly was zoning out just on my way back to the station and the wrx started slowing down. The only reason it caught my attention is because of the blinking light. He was slowing down fast too so it helped me get my head back in the game. So I will have to say it 100% helps with rear ends! Brings your attention right to it!
Hey I got a question ,I have that exact same cross brace in my trunk of my 21 sti….but it makes ALOT of like a metal clanking noise when I have it in. Is that normal ish?
Anyone having problems with making the light fit flush? There's quite a bit of space/gap with the plastic frame around the light when I installed mine earlier today. Tried playing around with how tight each of the three screws were and it helped but still not as flush as I'd want it to be. Any suggestions?
Late reply, but for anyone else who has this issue you just tilt the fog light from the inside and tighten the bolt on the side of the bracket to keep it there.
Could the 3rd brake light potentially cause problems with the tail lights? When I go into reverse my reverse lights flicker of don't stay on a lot of time I have to go in and out of R to get them to come on and stay on. But the 3rd brake light works fine... Maybe it's my tail lights that are going bad? I have the Subispeed V2 just like on the video.
You turn on accessory mode with your start button and then hold the brake and use the switch to go back and forth between running light and off 3 times.
Question 2020 WRX, I had 3rd brake light installed, and I keep getting tire pressure light, comes on and off Dealership service found the problem which is 3rd brake light. When I reconnected 3rd Brake light, tire pressure light went back on within an hour. Have you heard of this problem before ?
Thanks for this install vid since I just picked up this light. ...and I watch Peter McKinnon also ;() Just finished installing with the Subispeed harness. You would think red goes to red, but red actually goes to yellow, blue goes to red, and black to black. If your light blinks when you turn on the lights then you have it wired incorrectly (red is most likely connected to red.)
@@BraveheartSTIS209 Right on. Yeah I've had it for a while now, so long that I forgot how to enable/disable the strobe feature lol. (i.e. lights on/off 3x)
I have a 2012 impreza sport wagon, will it work the same for my car also and the same way to remove my trim panel on the side to access my taillight wires?
I have been trying to find out what i needed for my 2001 dodge ram 1500 it sounds like you would know best because no one is giving me a straight answer so 🤞🏼I purchased a led light for my truck and the old one was plugged into the socket on my truck but the new led light only came with 2 wires (red and blue) so what do I need to connect the led lamp to the truck?
I have 2012 Impreza sedan, I have a rear brake light for a 2015 WRX, I don’t have a wiring harness. I tried to install directly to right tail light and it blew my right taillight bulb. To keep this from happening again, so I wire it to my taillight harness instead ?
hello when I installed this with the plug in play adapter I only got the light around the middle with running and brakes. I did not get the middle blinking. it blinks for reverse in white but does not blink for brakes. is there something I am missing? thanks a lot
There’s 2 models of the olm 4rth break light. One with +reverse which is one you guys have. And one just called the f1 night bar which is the one that blinks for break light in the middle of the square
Okay idk what the hell is going on, but my light won't stay flush with my bumber. We did what you guys said in the video, but it just keeps wiggling around. 😭
Please help with my issue. I purchased the OLM F1 plug n play harness for my 2020 Sti and am having issues. THE GOOD: -with the harness, both left/ right tail lights function correctly. -the OLM 3rd light functions correctly, when braking. THE BAD: -OLM reverse light turns on with parking lights & headlights (staying on, blinding cars behind), when just the duller red parking light should be on. -when reversing the duller red parking light is on instead of the reverse lights.
@@Reflex8818 I resolved it now but I had to rewire my harness, it was wired incorrectly. Same as my Brz, the harness I paid extra for to simply the install was wired wrong Customer support was zero help.
@@thepolishitalian ugh sorry to hear that…… I just finished my install thankfully no problems, but I am trying to figure out what the wires that were already in the rubber plug actually go to
Depends. If you ever have a lighting / wiring issue, SOA might blame the issue on the light because you altered the stock wiring… If that ever happened, just take the F1 light off, put the cover back on, and take it to the dealership ;)
Zach, Have you emailed sales@subispeed.com? Looking at your order it looks like the product you ordered is currently on backorder. If you'd like an update/eta just shoot an email over and our sales team will be happy to help you. Thank you, Kevin
I got a question maybe someone can answer so Installed smoke lens using the quick connect harness. Everything works both switches and everything works when brake. However when lights are on .. isn’t the f1 light also supposed to be on in the background/lit dim at least ? Mine is just black and only lights on when I brake . Any help would be great can’t seem to find any answers online.
Just got mine installed. the solid red bar lights up when lights are on but doesn't light up in the center when im braking, the wires are hooked up correctly with the harness, why is this happening?
Bro i ordered a new one for this reason. I found out the ground was fucked up. The solid red light is on and the flashes of light when i brake work, ONLY if the headlights are OFF and on daytime running lights.
I purchased the smoked lens with red bar brake with plug and play harness. Everything is on but is there a way to have just the square lit up? On mine the center lights are always on and the square only lights up when I brake. Do I need to wire it a special way? If so how? Thanks.
I have the same issue. I switch the wiring - Red to Red, Blue to Orange and it work - outer bar is on when light is on and center (slow blink) when i hit the brake. Not sure why is slow blink and not fast blink. I sent email to Subispeed and waiting o reply.
So none of these can be used on the models that have the eyesight system I wonder why that is. Power draw maybe, since it's not really obscuring anything with the cameras or front headlights.
The hole that you sneak the harness in to connect to the f1 light already has a harness and I dont know what the harness is since on your wrx you dont have that harness. I have a limited sti 2017
Did you use the other grommet hole on the passenger side or did you find a way to make it work using the drivers side? I have the harness as well not sure what it is either
I originally wanted to get the smoked with red bar but they are on back order. So I said fuck it and got the clear lens with red bar and will just tint the light instead.
If anyone has the issue I had where the whole light is lit all the time and just want the square lit up instead, DM me and I’ll explain how I wired mine.
AlbinoREX having same problem I have a 2019 wrx sti and whole light is just lit doesn’t seem to do nothing as I hold brake and turn off light 3 times fast
How did you wire yours? I purchased the OLM F1 plug n play harness for my 2020 Sti and am having issues. THE GOOD: -with the harness, both left/ right tail lights function correctly. -the OLM 3rd light functions correctly, when braking. THE BAD: -OLM reverse light turns on with parking lights & headlights (staying on, blinding cars behind), when just the duller red parking light should be on. -when reversing the duller red parking light is on instead of the reverse lights.
