Check out this video to learn all of my Tips, Tricks and Techniques to properly install an Ultraviolet Disinfection System to make sure your well or lake water is bacteria free for your family!
Thanks for your great videos, I have a question: I am interested to reduce chlorine taste at my home, we get very clean and high quality water -it's just the chlorine taste needed to be removed. My problem is the Biofilm growth inside the Carbon filter that is inevitable during nights, So I though about building my own config: Stage1: 1 micron sediment filter (less "food" for Biofilm growth in next stage, people with less clean water can add ~5 micron before this?) Stage2: Carbon filter to improve the taste Stage3: UF ultrafiltration filter to block Bacteria/Viruses from the stage 2. Stage4: UV stage for 99.9% clean water even if some able to pass the UF stage. What do you think? is there already certified filter system like this ? and where can I find smart UV stage that turns on/off based on water flow? for now I only saw Acuva ArrowMax 2.0 on Amazon. P.S: is the a certification that test the water filters after week~ month of use and checks the bacteria count of the tap water into the filter vs out of the filter? Thanks in ahead and sorry for the long Q :-)
I don't think there would be a biofilm issue on a chlorinated water source. Your suggested solution would work but I think the cost would be prohibitive for most people. I have never heard of a system like this. I don't recommend UV lights that shut off for the reasons in this video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-axnZG8zSWfM.html I don't know of any testing for what ytou are looking for. I suggest a whole house carbon filter like this waterestore.ca/products/hum-automatic-back-washable-carbon-filter-1-0 and an RO for drinking water like this waterestore.ca/products/hum-water-saver-reverse-osmosis-system-75-gallons-per-day
Hi Gary. I already have a 20” 5 micron sediment filter before my iron Sulphur filter then a water softener. Do I need another filter before the UV light?
Thanks for the info Gary as always! Is there any plastic to worry about in sharkbite type fittings and the IV exposure? I remember there being plastic sleeves but not sure if those are outside or not. Thank you as always
I would follow the same rules, run 8-12" of copper before switching to pex. Since you don't use the sleeve inside the sharkbite fitting when using copprer it should not be a concern.
Hey Gary! Love the info. I'm constructing a house and am wondering what your best, top of the line, RO System is? I've been doing research and came across your channel.
@@GarytheWaterGuy thank you Gary! The rack has the UV light on the right side & filters on the left & we assumed it was right to left. Thank you again Gary! Always helpful. Blessings & abundance to you
We have several different kinds for whole house applications. These rack systems are always a good choice waterestore.com/search?type=product&q=minirack Also, this video may help you too ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-b10qSlRici8.html
I purchased the VH410 20” one from you and noticed the manual says the flow restrictor is optional. Why would I need it in the first place? Is this something you’d recommend adding?
Hi Gary if I have an inline polyphosphate additive filter would this be before or after UV filter? But I wanted to run uv filtered water to RO system for drinking water but can not run polyphosphate thru RO. Would it be ok to install polyphosphate additive filter after the UV filter?
You forgot to mention that folks should avoid pex or other plastic piping within 12” of the inlet/outlet of the system. UV will degrade this type of materials.
