How to Install Amerimax Solid Gutter Cover Gutter Guards 

I"ve used these. I'd rate the product 6 out of 10. They kinda do the job. In a hard rain the water won't follow the curve. They are installed under all layers of shingles, the video shows them just under the top layer, you can see the vinyl guard in the gaps so not under that next layer of shingle.. You need to have the right slope on this cover or water will pool up and could run under shingles. Gutters are installed at different heights to the shingle edge. They are installed butt joined - someone asked. I used small stainless steel screws to hold them to the lip of the gutter, as high wind will blow them off just clipped on as he shows. I have trees over my house so I'd be cleaning out gutters weekly without them. The fine screen, mesh, filter type gutter guards are all crap. Small particles from the trees will eventually clog them. This is the DIY system most like Gutter Guard, Gutter Helmet whole gutters with the curve. Those are mega over priced. My product was 3 ft long not 4 feet. Maybe easier to handle but the cost per foot was probably raised. Bought at Home Depot for $3.49 per 3ft strip.

This video do not include the flaws in the product or mention the potential problems you might encounter. -For some gutters, the cover will not lock into place without a significant amount of effort. Simply pulling the front lip by hand may not work. I had to use a small trim pry bar that I slipped through the cover slits and pulled outward. A dangerous move 25 feet off the ground. -If your roof has a slight slope, the cover may end up sitting flat and not pitched down. This could cause water/ice to build up and possibly even ice dams. -The covers leave a triangular opening at the end of each gutter, a perfect spot for nesting birds. I found that using a chunk of foam gutter insert nicely blocks these openings. On the plus side, I've used this product on 2 other homes and as far as I can tell, they work. And my research leads me to conclude that no gutter cover is 100% effective. Good luck!

Looks nice. Keeps all the crap out of your gutters Unfortunately, it keeps the rain out of your gutters too. They might work for a very light rain. A moderate or heavy rain, forget it. The whole purpose of gutters is to drain water away from your house. Termites love these gutter guards because they drench the ground around your foundation and cause hydrostatic pressure and make your basement leak if you have one. Termites thrive when there is an excess of water around the foundation of a building. Spiders love these gutter guards too, because the gutters stay free of water. Make great spider homes.

They didn't work on my neighbors house. Hard rain and the water goes right over them to the ground.

I even have a low pitch roof and these things didn't drain dick away from my house. I would imagine even worse on the roof in this video.

I have issues wit these not sliding under the shingles as easy as they show (aka won't budge). However, I did do a quick test with it laying over the shingles and a waterbottle. Watched a lot of the water sail over it. So this has me wondering if I should attempt these again or take another approach

I wonder if amerimax could create a solid guard with a rough textured surface so the water would slow down. might address the complaints below.

What do you do if the shingles near the gutter are much more stiff and unyielding than the ones you have in your video?

Why didn't you show how to butt the other pcs together or do I have to cut a slot.

what do you do if your roof doesn't have shingles ? can you still use the same gaurds

what happens when there is a storm shower? Will the water get into the gutter in time?

They might work on a light rain but I'll bet they don't work on a downpour I've had leafguard on my gutters for 4 years never had a problem

How do you cap the ends?

that's bull it doesn't go in as easy as it shows in the video they are a pain to install and besides they don't work they just keep the gutters clean but the water goes over so no used whatsoever

Never put a gutter cover under your shingles! Shingles are designed to adhere to each other for a solid bond not to be tampered with whatsoever! Take it or leave it, it is what it is!

Horrible demo! How about actually doing a corner? and how to connect two pieces? do I need caulk?
