Great walk through video! Do you have a part number for the boost gauge you're using? I like how it's analog but still has the digital reading.

Thanks. The boost gauge is a "Pro Sport JDM Series"

I've had my evo 8 since 2012.couple of months ago my lighter fuse went out went to change it and I saw a Mini fuse adapter on another fuse really didn't pay that much attention to it, but how I have to see where that wire leads to...great video been thinking going e85 since its local now to get some

Hello, Did your AFR readings changed after installing the flex sensor in return line? Mine reads 1AFR leaner since than. Im sure its tight fitted without leak. =//

Given the length of the ethanol sensor harness, where on the firewall did you fish the wiring through? I'm running out of options, as the most obvious grommet way over by the pass side strut tower is already occupied by other gauge wires/hoses. Just looking for ideas before I just drill a hole and put my own grommet in.

Are you running a standalone ECU to use Flex Fuel? I didn't think you could run a flex fuel map where it'll adjust for ethanol content on a stock ECU.
@BoostedFilms
@BoostedFilms 6 лет назад
susanrc73 running a stock ECU. Tuners can program maps and re-flash for e-85. EDIT: and the stock ecu will can be programed to compensate for different ethanol percentages. However, if you are paying a tuner for this, it will cost you much more for a proper tune at different levels of E-85.

Oh, okay. I knew you could run one map for pump and one for e85, but not a mix where the map will adjust based on what the ethanol content is. Thanks for the reply, your videos have been really helpful with various installs for my car, including clutch and next cams, which I will probably start on next week.

susanrc73 Thanks! And thanks for the follow up. I think I understand your question more now. Your initial thinking is correct. so when you re-flash the stock ecu to run e-85, your tuner should most likely be leaving some room in the tune for an expected fluctuation in ethanol content. My stock ecu will not adjust based on the actual ethanol percentages the car is seeing. However, I use the gauge as a tool to know what’s going on. I’m normally get 76-80% so far. However, if I had a fill up of around 60-65%, I would see a richer afr and be down on power. Right now, my stock ecu would treat it the same at 80%. That is what can make tuning on e-85 more challenging

think you are misinformed the 8/9 Stock ecu is capable of supporting flex fuel tuning and self adjusting. may want to look into it more

Do you rock the stock tank filter or do you have to install an external filter?

You're not running a flex fuel patch on your stock ecu by chance are you? I'm going to be and will be installing a very similar kit as you but will need to tie into an ecu pin on my Evo 8...trying to research the exact spot on where to do this and which wire from the gauge gets spliced to pin #42!

I'm installing this exact Innovate Motorsports ethanol kit on my 2012 STI. Everything seems pretty straight forward except the Yellow and Brown wires. I have the manual but I'm having a hard time understanding it regarding to those 2 wires as well as the IN and OUT Connectors. Of course I am getting it tuned right after install but is connecting the flex fuel sensor as well as the power and ground wires all I need for my tuner to be able to tune it? I thought the manual said that the IN or OUT connection needs to be connected to a laptop and to download that Logworks 3 software to tune it? I'd appreciate any info you can give me. Update: after re-reading the manual again it seems like the OUT Connector goes to computer to customize the gauge but not necessarily to tune the car. I still don't know where the IN connector goes to. The Yellow and Brown wires have something to do with reading the Ethanol and Fuel Temp but still unsure where they would go to.

I would talk to your tuner and see what they need. Especially since you are Subaru, i am less familiar with what you need to tune. Do you want tune that self adjust dependent on you E-85 content percentage? I only used the gauge for display purposes inside the vehicle. So IN/OUT was not needed for me. This is what the manual says regarding the IN use - "The Innovate Motorsports’ MTS (Modular Tuning System) allows you to daisy chain multiple devices together via the serial IN and OUT connectors to form one single synchronous log"

@@BoostedFilms yeah going Flex Fuel is a big thing in the Subie community because most of our ECUs have the capability to self adjust for the Ethanol content when tuned. Yeah I read that in the manual. Just wondering what those multiple devices could be? I guess I just have a little OCD on not connecting every single thing lol. But if I all I need to connect is the black, red, and white wire, then I'll just do that. I'm doing this today.

But you still have to run a wire from the gauge to the ECU to tune for FF.

How do you program it ?
@BoostedFilms
@BoostedFilms 3 года назад
Nothing needs programming if you just using it as a gauge. This is just a gauge install, it simply displays e-85 content percentage. The e85 gauge in this video has no effect on programming of the tune. You would need to hook the e-85 sensor/gauge into your CEU if you wanted your tune to adjust based on e-85 content. consult your tuner if that is the option you want to take.

So did you need to use the in/out on the gauge? I know the out goes to the programming cable, but if you used the in what did you use it for?
