Hi I have a 420d gran coupe 2017 and I want to do some performance upgrades? Any tips as I wanted to start with a stage 1 and a k&n air filter? Would it be worth it? Is the injen worth the cost and performance worth it?
As somebody who had to wait 45 days to receive it and just installed it today, if you smile when you heard your stock intake going about 15mph you're going to love this. Its so loud compared to oem, no video does it justice must hear in person. I couldn't recommend this intake enough. (228i N20 )
I agree. This intake adds acceleration noise when your creeping through urban traffic sub 45 mph. Adds a throaty acceleration noise and perhaps reduces throttle hesitation a bit. Pricey, but certainly a nice noticeable change in engine sound from OEM.
Great video, because of you I had no problem installing my Injen Cold Airtake on my 435i. However I will save everyone here who is thinking about buying it some money... I installed it correctly, no problems, it made the cool woosh sounds just like your car, but when I got on the road it was extremely obvious that the power was less since I could hardly hear my Remus exhaust and my head didn't hit my headrest when I floored it in Sport+ mode. Just to make sure I wasn't losing my mind, I reinstalled my stock intake along with the K&N filter I have been using and the power is back. I am no mechanical engineer, but I can only speculate that the Injen Cold Air Intake has a longer U-Shaped tube like you can see in this video, whereas the stock is shorter and pretty much a straight pipe. Paired with a K&N Filter this produces more power than the Injen. I wanted the Injen to be better since it looked and sounded cooler but there is no question the stock intake with a K&N filter has way more performance. Also the metal enclosure for the Injen has a pretty good weight to it whereas the stock is a very light plastic.
it also can cause your car to run lean and cause problems within a week codes started showing up didn't have any leaks or anything put stock back on and runs perfect I have a 128i
At work right now but UPD just delivered my Ingen for my engine. Gonna use your DIY to install it. Props on the video. You do good on them. I like your other one were you and your friend change out your cat.

Offtopic but does anyone else think bmw hood "line" looks a bit weird on F30s and F10s, and probably other new models? Before the "line" always blended with the grill, bumper and headlights, now its like a square hood. I always notice it, there is no way back from it one you do, haha. Good job on intake. Agreed, not really a strong performance upgrade but sounds and visually looks killer! :)
Just a heads up, cover the intake pipe with a rag. I was wrestling with this gromet and it randomly popped and flew down the turbo inlet pipe 😂 luckily i was able to get it out. Thanks for the video it was helpful
It's so fucked up my air intake is stock asf I never changed anything and it sounds like your aftermarket intake that you install is it normal? Can I still drive with it or is it broken and dirty air will enter the engine?
Did you paint the whiskers black? Or vinyl wrap it? Or removed them completely? That’s the piece that is across your fog lights. Usually is in silver accent.
Do you ever need to tighten the hose clamps from the first pipe to the second pipe that goes through the bottom panel? I didn't see you tighten anything after fitting the top pipe into the bottom pipe.
humm it looks like it will be a pain in the ass to take this thing out every time I have to work on my engine, where as the oem comes off quite easily.
i tried installing a cold air when i had a 2011 328i but it caused my check engine light to go on because it was running lean. will i have the same issue?
Did this throw any trouble codes for the maf sensor??? I put an intake in mine and it’s throwing out some weird codes like P00BD. My car is stage 2 91 octane. My bmw is hesitating under boost loads over 3000 ish rpm.
under the lower grommit, my f30 328i has a wire running along it and the injen intake doesn’t sit flush on it, i installed it and everything required force down to tighten, the filter was up an inch and i had to apply pressure on the lid, is this normal? the filter is touching the lid, is that bad? everything is tight and the intake sounds great but it wasnt a perfect fit
Just installed it today 320i sounds great but do you really feel any difference in driving ? I feel like mind downshifts a little slower in comfort mode.....
I’m confused. What happened to the hose under the old intake that you said had a clamp that kept closing as you tried to open it and you were unable to show us because you couldn’t fit the camera underneath. I didn’t see you reattach it to the new intake. Was that discarded?

So I plan on getting an Injen intake for my 435i but I live here Los Angeles. This intake is not CARB Legal, so they cannot pass the smog check. Should I still consider it? Thanks.
Dude I just bought an injen intake for my N20 and the MAF sits with the flat side facing the intake cone. I think they drilled it in reversed wtf lol gotta call them
