I would have like to have seen how the cables pass through that water tight compartment on the back which covers the ports. That in-line IR repeater is cool, but not necessary. As long as the TV and source device is compatible with HDMI-CEC (consumer electronic control,) the TV's remote can already control other devices. HDMI-CEC has been around for a long time, and was part of the original HDMI 1.0 spec. Since then, lots of other features and commands have been added to newer revisions of the HDMI specification.
So if you ever want to get rid of this setup in a few years when it’s obsolete, you just have to re-rock the entire wall to repair the damage. Seems sensible.
Did he just anchor to the stone siding?? Those are only held on with construction adhesive and will fall right off. And even if he went into the sheething, that is only 15/32 OSB at best.
These tvs (not including bracket, cables, installation) still range from $1500-$8,600 with most towards the higher end so roughly 10+ times the amount of an indoor tv. I can't imagine what they cost when this was installed. I've watched this clip several times over the years and got to wondering how it's held up. They can weatherproof all they want but between the effects of the sun, expansion and contraction with temperature, ANY water getting in, thieves and the bored neighbor kid with a BB gun these are still definitely for rich people. Electronics don't do well in the elements. I'll still inconvenience myself to take the 2 minutes to pop it on it's quick release mount and put it inside when not in use and spend the thousands saved on beer.
I've had an indoor TV mounted in my backyard for about 2 years. It's held up great. It's under an awning so it doesn't get wet, but we watch every super bowl and world series in our backyard with our couches and BBQ.
You could go to sams and buy quite a few of the same size TVs and replace them every time they broke (obviously cover it up) and still come out way cheaper
I live in the north-east so I know what you mean, but where they live that steel may not rust in a lifetime. Cubans still drive cars from the fifties and sixties after all.
Surprised they don't have a composite made frame for this application that would be truly rust proof. I'm not so sure that "stainless steel" gear would survive for years in damp conditions.
That's... actually pretty smart. I'd be bothered about not being able to close the window/door when the TV is out. Bugs and all. Well I'm sure there's a solution to that too, maybe a partial seal-like board attached to the mount at the right angle and length. Good thinking!
I've installed many of them. The people that buy them have lots of disposable income. If you have to ask how much or is it a waste of $$ then you can't afford it.
I recently bought a speaker for my shower, it was called water-proof Learn from my mistake, Water proof only means stuff like, if the shower head hit it. that hose? might not be considered water proof, especially if its a continuous stream and not a shower. Also, If something is submerged in water, that is not counted against "Water proof". So, be careful puting this above a pool, you won't get your money back if it fries out. submerssion-proof is a whole another thing.
Okay, I would like to know how you you put together a weatherproof cabinet of sorts, to store an indoor Tv (say 50" or better) outdoors? I think I know what I might do but, your take would be informative. I'm sure.........
Haha, thats interesting. "Stainless Steel" seems to come in various grades all of which cannot stand Florida. Wouldn't do this for a house, but in a business/restaurant setting it would be cool. And yea, as others mentioned how would you keep that sucker from getting stolen?
I was just thinking, what a waste of those window frames to put 6 large bolts in that wood.. Then they start grinding down that natural stone wall for that stupid TV 😂😂😂What an idiots.
The door covering the inputs on the TV is worthless without being able to close it when the HDMI is connected. Displays are getting pretty cheap, for the cost of that unit you could nearly buy 3 regular units for the same cost. You can buy a TV cover or on the cheap you can cut down a BBQ cover.
Hola senor is Jose im suppose to mow the lawn.Whats the adress again. This is dumb heard garages,Closets, now in your backyard you really must not want to spend time with your wife.Backyard tv whats next gps for riding lawn mowers
In the scheme of things $3000 for a set up is not ridiculous with their TVs currently on the market costing at least three times that it sometimes more do your homework before your comment!
