How to Install an RS4 Style Grille on a B8.5 Audi S4

In this video we show you how to install a grille on a B8.5 Audi S4. This install would be very similar on a B8.5 Audi A4 as well. We chose to install the RS4 style grille as the part used is an affordable and popular choice from many enthusiast in the Audi community.

You MUST remove the two forward\outer most belly pan screws in order to drop the bumper. Just FYI guys.

Yeah honestly I really like the factory s4/5 grill more than the aftermarket rs style grills. Brushed aluminum to match mirrors and window trim would be nicer than chrome plastic though.

Watched the video as I was installing the new grille. It took me 2.5 hours. Great video, very thorough. The only thing I would recommend is to sand the crash bar and paint it black.

Thanks man! I'm getting ready to replace a cracked grill in by B8.5 smallroad. Looks like the only major diff is that the allroad's body colored plastic bumper panels on the outsides have a tab that slides into slots in the grey fender flares that locks it all together. This means when putting the bumper cover back on, I'm going to want to slot those tabs into the fender flares first, and then push it back into place.

@@dictatte358 it was horrible. I did mine, and it's still not right. have to paint the crash bar too. my paint wore off the crash bar, so it looks terrible.

@@seandurham4864 i just redid mine, it looks a lot better.. I even used rustoleum, so I think i needed to prep a little better. The issue is with the grille not matching up properly. I have a sq5 , so its a little different on the bottom. Had to cut and modify the grille to match the bumper. I bought mine from china, so it didn’t fit properly. This is a great video though. Very close to my installation.

You'll be happier with the V6. Better for everyday driving and much faster plus a bit better fuel economy. Still sounds great too. Check out AWE for exhaust.

Thanks for the video, it helped a LOT when installing this grill on my brothers S4. By the time I got around to installing this grill on my S5, it was a breeze. This grill looks SO much better then that garbage ass stock grill too. Once the rings are installed and the bumper bar is painted black, it’ll look even better. My brother had his emblem painted gloss black, it looks good but I left mine chrome, I think the offset looks nice with my cars color (white). Thanks again for the video, well done 👍🏼

Any idea if the chrome surround is replaceable or do I need to get a new grill. Chrome sticker is starting to 'crinkle ' on the chrome surround.

I did the same with my 2013 S4. I used that trashy plastic insert to cover up the silver cross bar. It looked great for a while. After a few years it cracked and got brittle. Now it's looking terrible. Guess I gotta take it all apart again just to rip it out. Oh well. Might put the original back on.

So basically it's almost the same process as taking out the B8 A4 bumper looks like. So in theory facelifting my avant should be a breeze I just need fenders, hood, bumper and headlights. Cool.

It is a stupid desing but once you have done bumper removal on B8 A4/A5 -> it will only take 10mins to take it out. If you have second pair of hands to help you its 5mins

Looks great. Good to see it without the badge in the front. I did the same install and kept the badge on for my preference, but I will say that I also broke two badge clips and also ended up gluing mine on... Any preference on plasti dipping or painting the badge black?

As I do mine, I found my front collision beam was depressed. I thought I bought an accident car, but then I found that's how it's designed(Like shown in the video)... Can anyone confirm that?

I know it’s a year later, but that is how the bar looks from the factory, it’s like that to be able to fit the grille in place so that it can be set back against the bumper bar

I think it’s fine, as long as there is no RS or S badge on the grille itself. Do what you like to your car, forget what others think!

You swap them to the RS grille... and me as a german wants your grille cause ur plateholder can be removed and keeps the straight lines which is not possible on the eu version where the holder is embedded xD

In my opinion it’s wrong to remove the two nuts holding the bumper bracket on each side. You don’t need to, the side of the bumper will pop out.

I almost bought the same grille and was looking for a DIY video to see if it's worth the hassle. After watching and seeing the new grille installed, I think I'll just get some gloss black plastic paint and try my luck that way, too much work for such a minor improvement.
