I just got mine today i see the vortex how so i adjust the air flow i see the overflow on top but not dark yet

Really impressed with your videos, i'm a newbie to the game, I've had mine set up for a few days, but apart from water and bubbles being in the main chamber, nothings happening, no movement, no froth, is this normal in the early days? many thanks

Well this could very well be normal depending on a number of factors. I would give it a few more days and if you are still not seeing any dark skim starting to collect at the top of the skimmer neck or inside the cup you can start to slowly increase the foam level inside the skimmer. I prefer to run the protein skimmer 24/7 for most tanks with a typical bio-load and waste level. Some folks do put it on a timer to run for only segments of the day; I would only recommend this when the tank is running with very low bio-load.

Is it always better to have a slimmer larger than you need my tank is only 250 litres I run a bubble Magnus 3.5 which I find does the job but I've been advised a bigger one would be better is it possible to over skim

Over sizing your skimmer is always a good idea to ensure you are removing waste as efficiently as possible. Another fact that is unfortunately true is that many manufacturers tend to recommend a wide range of "Tank Sizes" for a particular skimmer. Generally, I tell people to go with the largest skimmer that fits your filtration and budget.

I have the fluval protein skimmer ps1 rated up to 45g and I keep getting water in my air line how can I fix that and keep water from getting in my air line.

This is likely caused from a crack or faulty connection with the airline. The venturi should be drawing air into the water pump; if air is getting into this tube you need to find out where the water is entering. It could be pulling water in through the fitting on the top of the collection cup as well. -Robert @ MD

hi there, what will happen to the pump if water gets in the air hose?

The pump will no longer draw air and will not create foam. The air line must be clean and free of water or any other obstructions in order to operate correctly.
