Designed for tree care, the EJECT friction saver allows the work rope to be set up, without damaging the tree, even in narrow forks. It offers multiple setup configurations on one or two branches and has an adjuster that allows precise length adjustment of the friction saver. Rope ascents and movement in the tree are optimized, thanks to the high-efficiency pulley which facilitates rope glide at the anchor. Keith Luscinski, from the Petzl Technical Institute, demonstrates in this tech tip video the proper installation and retrieval of the EJECT when using a moving rope system.

Fantastic demonstration, regardless of the utility of the device itself. Please do more demo videos like this! Excellent concise instruction and editing. Thank you!

Friction saver, no kidding; this is amazing. The closest you can do without this is beaner blocking a rope that you descend statically but then you still have the height of the limb's worth of rope needing to pass over the limb unweighted. It's not terrible, but I've seen that unweighted friction damage add up. Amazing product I wish I could use.

Now that I own the Petzl Eject I need to buy a new rope to use it as my brand new - never used - Samson Midnight Ivy rope's eye is much too bulky to fit through the opening on the Eject. Sigh - every upgrade always seems to cost at least twice what it seemed to cost at first glance.

Seems to be a complicated device to do what is already being done better

I replaced my art rope guide. The art pully is better but the petzl one is and better than the pinto pully on the trefelburger. The petzl is far better than any for retrival and the retrival with the throw line is well thought out. I would say an 8 out of 10, lets see after a year or so hiw it lasts. The art did a full five years in excelent condition.

Petzl shows their ability to find and make exceptional good technical solutions even more as Petzl's first webbing based piece of gear. But with a price tag being 10 times more than a regular friction safer, and expects special spliced eye ropes that make the investment even bigger One might hope for 10 or at least 5 times more benefits. Sadly that does not seem the case. It's an arborist toy, and arborist are no regulated rope acces, or fun climbing guys. They are a somewhat of a special breed and even with a lot of marketing, not easy to convince.without clear benefits, They are inventing and have invented gear and techniques to their own needs from garages to the market which work. I know Petzl can do better and cheaper, and i sure do hope they will keep investing and developing in arborist gear that will work.

You can not install it from the ground ?

I have the same question. Why would I setup another friction saver in the tree, climb up and then install this? Kind of redundant and waste of time. Nice design otherwise.
@Ithzzz
@Ithzzz 3 года назад
@@alanross9400 I mean how often do you hit exactly the branch you wanted and you can access the whole tree from that one point ? Think I can count the amount of trees where that has been the case on one hand.

@@Ithzzz Throw high and take the time to learn to isolate. With a little practice you can get to the point where you're not going to leave the ground without having your line in the exact crotch you want. A little extra effort on the ground saves a lot of effort aloft.
@123vincek
@123vincek 3 года назад
@@Ithzzz kind of depends on where you live and the trees you climb. I'd say easily 80 to 90 % of the trees I climbed MRS in southern oregon i was able to isolate and climb the whole tree from.

I feel like this is waaay more work then a ring and ring friction saver which can be installed and retrieved from the ground. Also letting the eject smashing on the ground can’t be good for it. I love petzl and trust my life to petzl from my sequoia to carabiners, this just seems not practical .

lol I’m sure it can take the falls to the ground. It’s built well. However, I agree that this product is basically useless.

@Haigha - You clearly didn't watch the video through to the end where he demonstrates how to retrieve and lower the device in a controlled manner. As to the usefulness of this device, well, that's up to one's own needs.

My friction saver cost me $50. I've had it for 3 years and I don't need a little bead that I will lose for sure to retrieve it. A strap, 2 carabiners and a pulley, thats all you need. Get the rings if you can't set it up without getting it stuck on the way down. What a pointless cash grab.
@sionwright3570
@sionwright3570 3 года назад
all the tards, " how is this better than using rings " the advantages of climbing on a pulley are well established. The obvious advantage of this pulley saver type device is the initial retrival is alot easier, allthough the down side seems is it comes down fast and is quite chunky so may just get stuck on the way down more often.
@TUFF93ryley

This seems really... stupid. Like a cheaper friction device can be installed from the ground and retrieved from the ground without letting it fall and hit a hard object. I'm always waiting for Petzle to tell me what this can do better than other devices but it seems like the answer is nothing.. other than fail in more ways than other devices.
@sionwright3570
@sionwright3570 3 года назад
If you climbing decent trees dont f around setting friction device from ground, just set a srt access line then install your ddrt in the perfect spot, hei presto less time throwing, easier initial ascent and a rescue line/ retive stuck friction saver line. even if your a wizard of throwline its quicker or just climb srt
