Nice bike, Good video. I purchased that top box used for my RT. It has no lights or wiring harness. Trying to see if I can add the lights and wiring harness. Cheers from CA.
Yes if you buy from factory you have to buy those separately. It’s a fairly easy install. Fortunately I didn’t have to do it since I got it used and the light was pre installed.
The only other thing that would make the Top Case installation better? Side folding support arms for your passenger. :) However, those are super expensive. But if your companion rides with you all the time, it might be worth the cost and effort. Good video - 😃
“Gorgeous”…exactly! I am ordering my top case today and look forward to following your directions. My last (2008) RT was blue but I went with Alpine 3 white (2024) this time. I’m blown away by this bike and I’ve only put on 20 miles! Congratulations on the new bike! RT is a great motorcycle. I never had the fortune to ride the older models but I got the refresh in 2021 and it’s been an amazing journey. Great review of the top of the line case! I know you’ll enjoy the RT! I’m on my second. I’ve put about 80k miles on the two of them. I bought the plain top case without all the bells and whistles for a third the cost. Cost was only part of my decision. I install and remove the top case often and didn’t want to have to hassle with the wiring harness every time I did that. The brake light would be nice, I’m rarely in the bag in the dark so the inner convenience light I don’t miss and I have to remember to lock the bag separately from the central locking system. Usually though, I just pop it off and take it inside the hotel room when I’m traveling overnight. Just some points to consider.
I have the opposite scenario. Top case is what I can use as my main storage because my back yard entrance is too narrow to fit the bike with side bags on. I mount side bags only for long trips.
@@ninerpeak Oh I have the Top box, I meant the bike doesn't look right without the pannier on the bike, plus you don't need to remove the top box to fix this kit , it takes about 5mins with the top box attached to the bike.
@@ragetobe oh I see. Yeah for quick rides I only take the top box. I have a very narrow gate where I park. The bike doesn’t fit that gap with panniers on. So it’s more of a hassle to go out with panniers every time. For long rides for sure don’t go without panniers. So much space 😀
Thank you for the feedback 😊 Blue is the way 👍👍👍 if you are not in the market for new bike yet, I’d suggest waiting until they bring a new RT with CarPlay for better connectivity. The machine is phenomenal though. Super fun to ride.
Do you have a link to this top case or at least a searchable Model #? I tried searching "5114- 8 568 714-03 motorrad top case" and didn't find success locating it.
