Did carli did an update on the thicker lip and different direction on the line opening facing the rear, I just bought this and the instructions show different as I've seen on this installation??
So there is a rubbing/vibrating feeling coming from my driver side floor board. Can't figure out what it is at this time but it start until I put them in. But no improvement in ride quality.
I got my bushings in and they are like yours. The ones in the cjc video look different than the ones I got and the ones you got. Are you sure you didn’t put them facing the wrong way? It seems like for more caster you would want it the opposite way so it pushes the axle forward?
I call Carli to verify the direction and it is correct. When the truck was aligned the caster was at 2.1 which I guess is the bare minimum for this truck and they said with the nee shim they would have adjusted it anyway.
@@mcmahansgarage awesome, thanks for the reply and video. I am going to install tomorrow. I hope it helps with my bump steer and steering wheel shimmy on my 19. It damn sure can’t hurt!
When you lift the front, the radius arm angle tips down more causing you to lose some caster. These aftermarket shims force the top ball joint rearward to give you back that positive caster angle. They won't change the ride quality but may prevent the "Death wobble".
Hey there. I was curious if after you installed your castor shims you had any issues or degradation in the axle end seals? I had replaced my axle seals and they were perfect until I installed the castor shims. It looks like the shims moved the axle out of concentric alignment with the housing (which makes sense). Everything else on my setup is correct and functional, lockouts, vacuum hubs, etc. Let me know! I'm thinking of making a video about it since I can't seem to determine the root cause other than the shims.
@@mcmahansgarage What I noticed is that a lot of folks are still running the dust seals that are attached to the axle itself. I installed the (updated?) ones that seat into the end of the housing and don’t spin with the axle.
No, just new shocks. I do, however have add a packs for the rear which should lift it a little. Currently the truck sits 1/2 an inch higher in the front so hopefully the leafs fix it.
