When my man gave 3 different ways to hit a nail in a small space like that I knew I was on the right channel. I’m 7 mins in so far and exactly what I’m looking for.
@@homeimprovementsI've installed for 40 yrs. Lots of incorrect work here. # 1 problem is they are not using a power stretcher. Even with a knee kicker, they are still doing a poor job. I have been doing restretch work for a few years now. I love folling these kinda guys. If you've been properly trained, you would never hire these guys.
@@daveparkes8539you missed the point of the video I guess. They are showing this for a beginner level, someone like me, who never had to put a carpet or knew what basic tools are needed. It is not meant to be a "professional" work but a tutorial for people who never done it.
I've watched quite a few clips on fitting carpet and this is absolutely the best by a country mile. Nothing has been taken for granted, everything has been explained. Showing how to fold the carpet is amazing. I had no idea how to get a 4m roll of carpet up a 130yo cottage narrow staircase. Thank you so much. I now feel much more confident in taking on the task in hand. Your both legends! 😃
These people are really good because the presentation is very easy to understand for beginners. a good teacher always gives easy and clear cut explanations. all of instructions make sense perfectly !
Thanks guys, did our hallway and stairs today (watched your other video on stairs). Have got a nasty crease in hallway but we had to fold the carpet to store it before fitting, hope it goes once settled. Thanks again, much appreciated 👍🏻
Brilliant guide. Always struggled with the cutting of carpet but this video has made it look easy and hassle free. Thanks! I hope you have a stairs carpet laying guide like this!! :)
We bought a house in this beautiful town but it is desperate for renovation. Our master bedroom will be complete tomorrow thanks to this perfect 10/10 carpet installation onboarding video 100% would start a business after watching this if i were 20
I’ve been fitting carpets for 40 years .very impressive, instruction video. Not sure if you’re floorlayers as you’re main trade but if you’re not flippin brilliant.
Congratulations. In the US, we call that escaping. 😁 It's a positive, congratulatory comment. Installing I'd hard on you. I'm 66 and been installing since I was 17. I do a few installs, but mostly measuring homes these days. You two are great. 👍 @@homeimprovements
This is a very useful video. Way better than the BNQ official video. I spend way too many hours to lay a carpet but then was struggling to lock the carpet in place. I am going to try again after having watched this.😊
@@homeimprovements I'm going to have to do a camper so thanks for the idea I usely do games and stuff but in order for that that has to be done but thanks 👍
I used to scoff at the side cut. then the other day I had to fit into a finished wood reducer. came in clutch. this is why I like watching my trade in other countries. well done.
2 things I didn’t see, 1. How do I untucked (if I ever need to), 2. How did I tuck at the sliding doors? Let me add that this video is VERY entertaining and informative and makes me feel very confident that I do this by myself. Thanks for your service!
I didn't have a carpet kicker, so I made one out of scraps of wood. (It was the wood from a frame for a canvas picture, 4cm x 2.5cm cross section.) I glued it all together and screwed it to make the shape of a kicker. For the grip I used 4 strips of carpet gripper glued and nailed onto the flat base, which covered the 2 wooden strips deep. It turned out to be 14 cm x 8cm. Two smaller pieced were glued and screwed parallel to the connecting piece for added strength. The connecting piece 40cm long glued and screwed on top of the knee bit, which was made with one strip 14cm x 11cm then the two smaller strips 4cm x 5 cm glued and screwed. On top of that another two strips 14cm x 11cm again glued. Finished off with 2cm thick solid foam 14cm x 11cm glued on with wood glue. It works reasonably well enough to fit the carpet. Not quite up to your guys standard but the finished job looked good and tight. So thank you very much. I realised the previous fitting of the carpet grippers were way away from the wall, so moving them in as you showed made all the difference.
I appreciate you both!!! I watched other videos first and felt like I was missing something; so I watched one more! By far the best guide! Five Stars!!!
Soooo glad i found this video. Really informative and entertaining at the same time. It actually makes me want to try and do this myself. Subscribed! Can't wait to go through your other vids
Thanks so much for this video! I don’t know why we Americans are opposed to taking off our shoes, but I definitely will. This is a fantastic video. 👏👏 I did notice the audio was a bit messed up. The sound kept switching from L to R and wasn’t synced in all places. Hardly an issue with such a great video. Cheers from Texas!
Honestly amazing tips. I love the fill in bits to reduce creating questions, like you explain "why" for what you just said, and then also not just what to do but what not to do. Great videos!
As a beginner, I was apprehensive about installing carpet, but this video made the process so accessible. The clear explanations and visual demonstrations provided all the information I needed. I'm thrilled with the results, thanks to this excellent guide!
I couldn’t believe how well it went. As long as you have those basic tools you’ll be fine. I have never tried this before but my daughters carpet is almost perfect (I went a bit mad with the Stanley knife in one small area so I glued a scrap in that place but you wouldn’t know). My daughter’s room was a perfect square so I had it pretty easy but after doing this I would definitely take on a larger more complicated space. Good luck
Great job lads, and good instruction. Nice to see you didn't cut the Vs off around the pipes, was one of my pet hates, I was taught to tuck them in. I learnt 40 years ago, and probably 1 in 4 of the carpets we fitted was an Axminster, so had to get the pattern straight, and pattern match HSL it was great to see the back of patterned carpets the job became a lot easier and faster, if it makes a comeback fitters will recall the good old days when it was all twist.
Yes I remember that, I was always taught to tuck around the pipes so if the radiator was ever moved it was an easy repair. I also remember when fitting Axminster folding the bottom rise on a step so they could be moved if they started to wear. All man made rubbish these days.
this helped a ton! thanks for the video! Im installing carpet on some very hard concrete that doesnt like to take nails. no matter what size the concrete just busts apart or the nails break. I ended up going with some extremely strong expoxy and glued the tac strips or "grippers" down. I was lost on how to lay the carpet out and get it fitted in, this video helped more than any on here that ive seen so thanks again! I really like how you all showed how to make the relief cuts too! Looks like I need to get a much better knife blade too haha
Man you guys are wicked sick, informative, while entertaining. My cats messed up my carpet so im going to be replacing a little section. Make sure I get my deposit back, since ill be moving out soon
Awesome video and instructions. Thank you for the time yall put in to putting this together for us all. Greatly appreciate the extra "tips of the trade". Happy New Year to yall and yours from the USA.
Great talk MC! My bro! I like that. You've actually opened up my mind to consider that AI could really become conscious. As much as I've been resistant to that idea because I'd like to think that my consciousness, which seems to be emergent, is special, I can't really say it is or it isn't. So therefore how could I say that AI may not reach or is not already conscious!?
This, this is the way tutorials on RU-vid should be explained. As an autistic visual leaner (apparently it's not pc to even call myself the R word 😅) I need clear instructions and explanation. I've just fitted my home studio carpet after watching this (4 to 6 times just to lock that info into my brain 😂) the carpet is perfect so honestly boys, take a f***ing bow 🙌💪🔥💙
Great video, you’re always gonna get the inevitable comments from the miserable people ‘Why don’t you power stretch’ ‘Use a carpet tucker’ ‘Use a plastic bolster’ Bla bla bla I’ve fitted for over 20 years and I wouldn’t say I do everything the same as you guys but get the same results and that all that matters Nice work
Good demonstration but I just bolster the carpet into the skirts then run the knife along at 45 deg. Along it in one sweep. Quick bump with the carpet thumper, jobs a gooden. An average longe only takes about an hour to do.
23:00 WATCH THOSE BLADES AROUND THE BASE BOARD BOYS , COULD BE WRONG BUT LOOKS A BIT GALGED UP BY THE TIP OF THE RAZOR BARELY SCRATCHING THE SURFACE OF THE PAINT, but great video educatioanal, fun,and enjoy the accents. lol but what do i know , im an american. lol i didnt know the peaky blinders installed carpet . sharpest knives in the uk, STILL SUBSCRIBED
Thanks for the tips I'm a decorator! And my wife wants me to lay living room carpet 😂I feel a bit worried but I'll give it a go!! What can go wrong like papering a wall!! 😂😂😂
