Thinking about doing this for my MG Midget hood because Midget hood latches suck for closing and suck for opening. What you did is what I remember my father doing in the 70s on race cars. Dot of goo, close the hood, recklessly drill holes, done. Always went fine.
hood pins are safe. im 64 and over the years i have seen many vehicles with them installed and nobody ever had an incident. if you do install them make damn sure your safety latch is there and it works. after all, thats what the thing is there for!
Doesn’t make sense. How do you mark them @ random positions then drill holes AND mount the cover then only to adjust the height of the pins which would further change the entry point vs the hole you had. That’s why nothing fit. Should’ve ensured pins were correct height first then mark the holes and do it all. Common sense lol
No way same hood pins fun fact for quicker install of them is take your hood pins install them with the hood on take oil or slam the hood gently then take your 9 mil pistol shoot the marks slap the hood down and your done
If you don't know what your doing please don't do these kinds of things... Or have people go trying this Hoods will cost you your life you can or will die if you just do this and not know what your doing at 15mph a hood blows up you loose complete eye sight you will travel about 15 seconds because you'll be in shock freaking out then trying to stop car without seeing.. Now picture going faster even on expressway hood blows up cars all around.. smashes your window and happens so fast you don't even stop yet or car is skidding losing control.. you cant see cars in front of you, your curves, lanes ahead on either side, you can be hit from behind killing you and other driver, you can hit whatever is in front of you, lose control and you won't know where to steer cause you cant see and that's it... A hood is something to not play with and take very serious.. Don't mess with hood without expertise professional help.. A hood isn't for experimenting purposes unless your playing with your life.. To many people watch videos think they can do anything and watch some cool dudes and go hmmm let's go try this please don't... I build motors and race and most our hoods are off do to the turbos exhaust coming straight up from headers.. If you have a hood that doesn't shut correctly and your not a street racer literally and not taking your hood off to keep engine cooler just please go get your hood fixed properly by a professional
I recently had my hood pop up on me going 65 while entering the highway at night. Somehow my windshield didn't break, I didn't hit anyone, nobody hit me, and I managed to get pulled over pretty quickly. I've bought new hinges, a new latch, and a new hood, but after replacing everything the hood still doesn't line up with the latch. I've been seriously considering putting pins in just so I don't have to purchase everything again.. Do you think it's unsafe to install these pins on a steel hood?
@@joshyaash The worst thing you could do would be take advice from hot wheels hector.. adding additional latches can only reduce the chance of that happening again.
