If your wondering how I install these doors on the cabinet carcass, watch my videos on how to build a curio parts 1 & 2, this video is just a demonstration of how to use the jig. I got you man! Thanks man. I was on the fence about getting this jig but It makes it so easy to install those hinges. Part 1:ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-skDwbOgOpEg.html Part 2: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-hO4mcJisphY.html
Thanks Anthony. Great video! My contractor stopped coming before the doors were put on my built-ins so I decided to take matters into my own hands. I am a fairly decent DIY type but never installed concealed hinges. I was nervous that I would ruin the cabinet doors. With your guidance, I completed the project and they turned out great. I did take time to buy a 3/4" plywood blank for a test run which worked well and gave me confidence to finish the project. Keep up the great how-to videos.
I will be installing some shaker style doors on my shop cabinets in the next week. I ordered the kreg jig and waiting on it. Your video has helped to demystify the procedure.
Well done, so helpful, I installed my doors following the instructions of your video. I like the way you tell people to look at the manufacturers specs, so I did that! Doors are on my kitchen cabinet, Thanks!!
Thanks for your video! Getting ready to install some shaker cabinet doors and using these hinges. I’ll set up a DIY jig on my drill press, but Kreg is definitely good for onsite install.
Excellent video. I was all set to buy a drill press just to replace my cabinet hinges. You saved me a ton of money and garage space for a tool I didn’t really need. Thank you
Ps. I was just looking through the comments for an answer to a jig question I had, thinking I may find it there. Anyway, just know that most people stink 😂🤷♀️ and that your video was great. I have a channel myself and never comment on videos, but found yours so helpful and the best on the subject that I had to. Just keep doing what your doing and don’t be discouraged :)
Excellent step by step instructions great. I went amd got a kreg wow what a difference. Spend the 49 for it. The kreg vivce grips are really pricey. 59 bucks for 1 u need 2 but worth it. I'm just a diy guy
Great video. It helped a lot, especially when you've never done it before. I used the jig and bingo. I wonder how many doors I can drill with that bit that came with the jig.
Thanks Anthony, this will be helpful for my next project. Related to a comment someone else made...what type of hinges do you use. Just curious as the Blum may not line up with the Kreg Jig??--Thanks
Hello, thank you for the information on that jig, much appreciation. Once suggestion to make the video even better, introduce yourself at the start of each video. Take care, be well.
Nice video for using this jig. I was hoping you would show how to align the two doors perfectly when installing them back to the cabinet. My concern in the curved edge on the outside of my cabinet drawer that it could make a hole on the edge if it goes too far in when drilling the hole with the jig.
I am replacing my old hinges with soft close. I’ve patched holes from old hinges. Do I need to change where I install new hinges? I’ve read about wood fillers, epoxy and putty, they all say you can drill them but they are not strong enough to hold cabinet doors. My old hinges were placed 3” from top and bottom, should I change measurement when installing new hinges so I’m not drilling into wood filler or epoxy?
Nice! Also, looking for guidance on how install the hinges on the cabinet getting it nice and level in addition to having it centered top to bottom of cabinet opening.....
When your doing double doors with no center stile and you measure the rough opening and then add for your overlay then get the size of your two doors do you make them.excat width are you make each door a 1/16" smaller i know some hinges have adjustments for the gap between the doors
I liked your step by step instructions in the installation of these hinges. A little constructive criticisms, your should have turned the clamps over, when clamping the jig in place, to keep from denting the face on the front of the door. Or use a scrap of plywood to minimize the impact. All-in-all a good video.
Okay! Your video gave me the confidence to go for it!!!! Thanks Anthony! Curious about if I should drill for the pull handles while the cabs are laying flat OR wait until I install in case hinge adjustments are made?
Thank you for this video. At my wife's request (of course ;-)) I am replacing flush mount (full inset partial wrap?) hinges with soft closing, concealed, mortise-type hinges (as you install in this video). Our cabinet doors have a routed hidden curve (grab edge) all around the edge. This means when looking at the cabinet straight on there's a 1/2" overlay but because of this routed grab edge the actual overlay is about 1/8". When measuring the overlay for a mortised soft-close hinge I suspect I should use the outside edge of the door; in other words the 1/2" since that is truly how far the door edge extends past the frame edge. Correct?
Nice video. I wish you would have shown how you determine where you install the hinges/door on the cabinet. Also, do you buy your wood from the store or do you buy it and then mill it? I’m making shaker doors and drawer faces for my kitchen and I bought the poplar from Home Depot and the wood is nothing but a problem with slight twists and bows, etc.
Greg D I buy it rough from a hardwood dealer then mill it. You’ll never get straight and true boards from a big box store. They don’t worry about moisture content or proper drying and they just stick the boards one on top of the other in a rack. That’s why they always twist, bow and cup.
Can anybody tell me what the screws are for that go on the cabinet side of the hinge not the Dior side and not the mounting screw but the two other ones that come factory
Adjustment for the doors after they are installed. They move the doors up and down, side to side and closer or further away from the face of the cabinet.
