Love having this video to refer to. I have a question about the lock-pull hardware. What's the purpose of installing that big piece of hardware on a double pocket door installation? It's not lockable, right? I realize it gives you that push button piece you can use to pull the door out, but that's only on 1 side anyway. Could I just install my own door handles that might look nicer than the ones that came with it? I just want to make sure I'm not missing something by skipping the installation of the included hardware. Thanks
Ofcourse, you can use the hardware that you have. Removing the old handles and replace it with your handles. Also, we could leave a cut-out of the handle hole for you! If you have anymore questions, please feel free to ask!
@@unitedporte Thanks. Yeah, I'm looking at some more modern rectangular handles to go better with our decor instead of the round. I already have the doors btw and am in the process of installing them. I did have one other question :) I bought the Sliding French Double Pocket Doors Frosted Glass and it came with L-shaped casing trim. It's not the typical casing that you would normally get because it's L-shaped and not rectangular. So if I use the 3/4" baseboard, how do you meat up the baseboard to a thin 1/8" thick casing? Do you have videos on installing the casing? Maybe I'm looking at it wrong. And I'm not seeing the vertical split jambs and horizontal header split jambs in my kit so not sure how to get jambs to match the cognac finish my doors have. Thanks
Unless I'm missing something, the instructions on your website are wrong. I bought 24" doors and the instructions for a single door say rough framing is 2xdoor width plus 1 inch for 49". So if you double that, the rough opening would be 98". Your website says 97" rough opening. But I also found this video from Johnson that says rough opening is door width x 4, which is 96" rough opening. Which is it? 98, 97, or 96? ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2VlsVEl1ARY.html There are no instructions on how to cut down the pocket door hardware to fit the recommended 97" shown on your website and and also recommended by your support staff. It would be nice if this video gave details on how to cut everything down to fit the rough opening. So I guessed and experimented until I got it to fit 97". I wish I did 96" though because now that I cut everything down and installed it to fit 97" width, the doors extent past the frame opening by an inch which means I need to make custom sized split jambs to hide the backside of the door. Also, the Johnson instructions have you assemble the header hardware as 1 long solid header versus installing it as 2 separate headers in this video. I recommend the Johnson way because you can assemble it on the ground to meet the right rough opening width and then just attached it to the top of the framing. Also, for anyone else reading, make sure you order the split jambs. The picture for the doors on the website show split jambs in the picture, but they aren't included in the kit, which is weird. You get the doors and door frame to match, but then don't have the needed split jambs. That's an additional cost that isn't mentioned anywhere.
