Luckily refound this video with this neat install, in the freezing cold! Mrcool might be faster to install but with custom length, flared connections, there's no need to coil the ugly leftover lineset behind the unit. Haven't seen the flaring tool in your videos in ages!
@PipeDoctor

Really? We use the flaring tool on every mini split install.

15:21 most all terminal lugs are not rated nor listed for more than one wire, that means all disconnects, breakers and devices on the market.(unless they specifically say it's allowed. it should be pigtailed off the disconnect to a wire nut splice with the surge protector and load/device whip. just need some larger caps or wago's if they make them larger. alternate you may find a double lug adapter, but they're not commonly used on smaller gauge wire and probably wouldn't fit in there very great also insulated multi-tap connectors would work.
@throttlebottle5906
@throttlebottle5906 Год назад
and You/Daniel even mentioned it. the reason why it should be spliced and pigtail to the disconnect lug was demonstrated by Peter. :)

Mikey please tell me I’m dreaming and that you actually did pressurize the system with nitrogen because from where I am looking it didn’t look like you used any nitrogen at all that’s awful it’s not about just checking Lisa also helps clean and dries the system out now I’ll let you’ve pulled a vacuum with nothing but moisture in the lines from oxygen you pulled a vacuum down quickly which probably froze any moisture in those lines my dude that’s why you need to do a triple evacuations break the vacuum with nitrogen two more times and pull the vacuum down two more times I can’t believe you’re showing people to do this and I say that with a lot of respect for you

I like how you mentioned not being a hack in your video yeah your install is Literally straight hack. Not all of it but some of it. Why didn’t you sell these guys a floor model? The high wall head there looks awful and you put it so tight to the window trim that it won’t be able to get properly serviced the right way in the future also you could literally put your hole anywhere you want behind that head so you could have moved it an inch or two away from the outside window if you wanted to or if you are so adamant on keeping the inside hole where it was you could still move the outside hole and flex the pipes there’s so many options I’ve learned a lot of shit from you but in the refrigeration world I don’t think you know quite what you’re doing I do do the same with the drain tubing as well that was good

I cut the flare fittings off the head unit and braze the the line set. That way I can push the line set into the room and do the brazing inside and not have to flare outside or have leaks. I don't trust flares even when done right. Great video.
@throttlebottle5906

careful, brazing voids warranties on most if not all of the systems. they assume you didn't clean/replace everything, nor purge while brazing and contaminated the system.

Curious why you didn’t mount over the window. Looks like there was enough space to go over window and have your access hole on left side of unit just up say 10 inches. Not saying you did anything wrong just wondering why you decided that was best spot. There could be framing etc you didn’t mention and why it got placed there in spot you mounted.

Gree may be a lesser known brand in the U.S., it’s certainly not in the rest of the world. Gree is actually one of the largest air conditioner manufacturers in the world - in the top 3 with Daikin & Midea rounding out the big 3.

Used to be a top line brand but their recent air cons have been notorious power guzzlers. Like if a Fujitsu or Daikin modulates the compressor power at around 200-300W on heat the Gree would go down to 600-800W and then it shuts off like a non-inverter unit. This is why Japanese mini-splits are the ones to buy - they may never be particularly gimmicky but the construction has it where it matters.

Finally got it up and running. The only delays we had was because we realized we needed some extra parts (I’ll list that below) ru-vid.comUgkxihMYiJNXcHdbH-7ihymsLz61l7jVyb5O . So we have a loft where our current hvac just couldn’t seem to keep cool during the summer. We have been using a window unit since we bought this house over 6 years ago (all the houses in this neighborhood were built in the 80’s and majority of the houses built like ours use a window unit). I hate window units because they are just so noisy and the one we had really only cools one side of the loft. I had contemplated upgrading our current HVAC, but with all the rising prices these days, it would take years before saving up enough to do that. With the advice of my father-in-law (used to run an HVAC business), he recommended we get an inverter instead. We thought we bought everything we needed, but there were just a few other parts we didn’t anticipate needing (which is what caused most of our delay). My friend and father-in-law did all the work to get it installed and running and now we have nice cool air circulating nicely throughout the entire loft. It is very quiet and even the outside unit is much quieter than our main HVAC unit. Saved ourselves thousands getting this.

Great video brother! I have question on fujitsu 12k single zone unit install. My sister is getting one installed soon for her small sunroom, house is single floor. Im an electrician so i will do the electrical work. Hvac guy thats a friend of my grandfathers is doing job and he quoted them $5500 for unit and install (no electric) i looked up unit which costs around $2500 after taxes. I kind of feel $3000 labor is way excessive being the small room and circumstances. Everything is close and easily mount to brick. Am i just outta the loop or does this sound excessive price for install ? Were near philly. Thanks pal 👍 keep up great work.

Hey mike, as always great job. Yours are the most entertaining and informative hvac videos on RU-vid. I have a 15k btu unit and I learned that the remote location is important. Do you set up the wifi for the customers?
@F12255
@F12255 Год назад
the remote is just a remote. it has no effect on reading temperature for the unit. the temperature is read by a thermistor in the return. some brands give you the option to read temperature from remote or unit. but i would say almost all are read from the sensor in the unit.
