Holy crap you’re back! Just finished rebuilding my VQ35DE, hoping to get it running tomorrow, but I wouldn’t have had the confidence to build this engine without watching your videos first.

I can’t wait till you finish with this. Cause when your finished I’ll star my (rebuild winter project.) You are the only one who took the time and energy to do these videos. You truly are inspiring. Quick question. If I don’t put in the original pistons and rods (wiesco pistons and eagle rods) do they all have to weigh the same weight before installing them inn as this is what a mechanic told me? I’ve never heard of this! Thanks

Definitely look up engine blue printing and balancing. Its best to have your engine balanced. Theirs many good videos online to help! Thank you for watching!

Yo what happen to the how to do the timing on the cams and the main crank timing aswell??i need help there’s no one with how to’s or videos on how to do the cam timing and the crank timing for the REVUP VQ35DE .. all the videos and forums and instructions are on the non revup version with picture f the dowel pins on the cams but you can’t see them on the revup version cuz we have that spiral looking plate over our exhaust cams!!! Hit me back up

While I'm doing a full timing chain service (in which I found a sheared VVT pin in my cam sprocket, forcing me to replace both an intake cam and that sprocket 😔), I thought I'd mention something fairly critical about the RTV placement in the main front cam cap (that bolts to the rear of the front timing cover): the RTV is NOT supposed to be placed in the inner groove that widens (V) towards the front of the engine. That is there strictly as an overflow channel for the RTV on the outer (parallel) groove, as the oil port that feeds the front cam bearings is just INSIDE that inner race/groove. It protects that cam oil supply port from getting RTV IN it (think of it like a moat), because if that happens, your front cam bearings are going to fry. Same goes for the upper VVT Cam sprocket oil galley (those small O-rings at the top between intake and exhaust cams): it has two parallel races on the rear of the rear timing cover; the larger one (closer to the O-ring mating surface) should NOT have RTV placed in it; it too is a protective 'moat'.

Question. I have a normal de motor I’m rebuilding, for the cam brackets in the Haynes book it says to torque them down to 48in pounds but literally everywhere else I’m seeing it say to about 80in pounds. Not really sure what to do cuz we already specced the lifters our with 48in pounds

If I were you. Id double check with OEM Specifications. Thats whats best to use. I was using Pro-demand which shows specifications provided by Nissan. Personally I would recheck lifter specifications using proper OEM Torque specs.

Gustavo Moreno The Engine Build has Been on the Backburner. Not using the Engine and haven’t gotten to it. The series will conclude this year but the next part won’t be out for a few months

So check this out I pay someone to do my headgasket next thing u know he decides to ditch me on the job so I have 2 heads that I just got back from the machine shop and now I'm stuck with a lot of bolts and new parts in my hand lol

Gustavo Moreno Ah gotcha. Honestly there are some good videos on timing for the engine. Mine would probably be more thorough but honestly. My next free day isn’t until March 26th I believe. I could try to get the next part out this month

Help Please! I traded a run down mustang that I rebuilt the transmission in for a 2005 Nissan Altima 3.5 SE. It had the dreaded chain guide rattle. Tore it down with the engine IN the car and the tensioner was extended, the slack guide and the top guide was broken and the back two cam tensioner shoes were wore down almost to the tensioner itself. I removed primary chain and guides and then removed cam sprockets and chains. I then replaced tensioner shoes and reinstalled cam sprockets w/ the chains. All mark's lined up. I then installed primary chain and guides, all mark's lined up, and then I pulled my catch pins out of tensioners. All marks were fine. My next step was rotating the engine(crankshaft bolt) by hand. I rotated it ab0ut 10 times until all my PRIMARY chain marks lined up again. I then noticed my cam sprocket chain marks were not lined up. What did I do wrong? Any help is greatly appreciated man!

I noticed that too. My passenger side cams sat the same way. How do I align the cams at 12 o'clock? Can I rotate the cams by hand to align at 12? The #1 cylinder is at TDC. Anyone? Thanks.
