5 Simple Tips and Steps for Metal Studs Installation in 2021
Materials and tools needed:
1. Metal studs
2. Metal tracks
3. DynaBolt 3/16"x2" (5mmx50mm)
4. Self-drilling screw Hexagon head screw 1/8"x3/4" (3mmx20mm)
5. Pan head screw 1/8"x1/2" (3mmx12mm)
6. Aviation Snips
7. L-square angle ruler
8. Vice clamp
9. Pliers
10. Portable grinder
11. Socket Wrench
STEPS:
Step 1: Cut the metal track at the required length. Mark holes spaced at 18"-24" or 450mm-600mm. Bore these holes with a 3/16" (5mm) masonry drill bit to a depth of 1 1/2" to 1 3/4".
Step 2: Insert the DynaBolt (Anchor Bolt) to the bored holes. Tighten the bolts securely using a socket wrench #11.
Step 3: Start mounting the metal studs 1 1/4"x4" (30mmx100mm), 0.6mm to 0.8mm thick. Make sure the studs are levelled and are perpendicular to the tracks. Note: Make a 1 1/4" bend at the end of the stud.
Step 4: Continue to mount the rest of the studs with the same and consistent spacing.
Step 5: After the studs are installed, install the noggins, in this case I used metal studs of the same specifications. Space them at 16" (400mm) or 24" (600mm).
