well, giving this a try. got the launcher running, loaded up the undead legacy, added a couple modlets...and now I've been waiting for it to build and launch the world...for at least five minutes...oh! it just launched! hooray! first launch is always soooo long...
word of warning to all: i went into the mod launcher to try out some modlets and when i went back into my UL save my character was completely reset so i lost all my levels and items but the game was still at day 65 and the map was still as i left it....back up your saves before messing with mods
Adding and removing modlets can be tricky on existing saves. Use caution! However, if you use the ModLauncher, you'll find backups under your default folder's Saves... ie, C:\7D2D\Saves\. There's no auto-restore yet though.
does this affect multiplayer in any negative way? will my friends be able to join and play alongside with all the mods or do they need to do something?
While I knew about overhauls, I didn't know about this program. So this video was definitely informative. But I'm just looking for the correct way to install mods, not overhauls. Like what we call addons in WoW. I thought they were called mods in 7D2D. Apparently I'm doing it wrong because I can't get most of them to work. Even paying for premium Vortex and trying to let it do the work for me.
Quick question if you have time~ I fairly recently started playing this game and I’m hooked. Is there a way to repair scrap/metal armor that you wear. I noticed repair kits don’t work on it.
Why is Darkness falls on the Mod Launcher if he doesn't want people to install it from there? surely if he asked to get it removed he can, it only took me 5 minutes to get in contact with the mod launcher creator.

Weird, my DF worked fine from mod launcher in A20 (it's not up yet for A21). I always thought creators had to add their mods to ML, just from how Khaine and Ramsey have talked about when their mids will be on it.
I'm fairly new to 7 Days to Die, but I love modding (I've used it a lot in Fallout and Skyrim). I am wondering this (and maybe you or one of your nice viewers can answer it)...if I want a mod in my play through and it's my game, do my friends have to have the same mod downloaded on their systems in order to use the mod I have in my world? Very informative video. I'm having some issues with UL mine keeps crashing every 20mins. Been told it's a very resource intensive mod but my system is almost brand new so not sure if it's perfomance or of I've done something wrong
Try manual installing UL. Don’t use huge generated maps because that affects how much RAM your game is pulling. You really need like 16+ go to get overhauls to work well. I only have 16 and I’m trying to upgrade to 32

I keep just getting errors trying to download a few modpack, undead legacy doesn't work for me, but bettervanila, and apocalypse now work, which really sucks I wanna play undead legacy
@@marie-eagle Definitely give it a go. It is a challege, but doesn't change as many features as a mod like Darkness Falls does. So it could be a good start. The dev is planning on a lot of changes in Alpha 21.
@@redstonedad6434 I honestly think it would better in Alpha 21 for GNS to do that. There is so much coming in A21, and content creators like "bling". The more bling the better. So with the additional bling in A21 for Apocalypse Now, I think it would be a good time for a series.

Do not download this mod manager, It is a scam I downloaded the mod manager, I downloaded the age of oblivion overhaul and I pressed play and nothing happened, so I thought I have to start up 7 days and I do and nothing, no age of oblivion just the age of vanilla 7 days, I'm not happy. I deleted it and told myself Id redownload it, and I install a mod from the nexus manually and I have no idea what I'm doing so I go to check if it installed and all of my 7 days 2 die worlds are gone whatever, I reinstall age of oblivion and while its downloading or something I watch some youtube and after a while I look for the mod manager and it closed so I start it up again and I find the age of oblivion mod and I click play and an error pops up saying some crap about a bad image so I click play EAC and it just closes and does nothing, I'm trying to re re download this shit but if it doesn't work, you didn't explain it well enough for me and I'm just uninstalling everything and damning you to hell I just re re re installed age of oblivion and I clicked play and it said downloading and deploying mod and nothing happened and I clicked it again and again and again and again and I even started up 7 days just to see if it worked but no
The mod launcher have changed a lot and it doesn't looks like this anymore.. I feel like an new tutorial is needed. or at least an updated one. still do like your way of explaining make it easy to understand
What needs to happen is the video uploader needs to rename the video title/description to say that Mod Launcher has changed and that the video is no longer applicable to the new version. Doubt they will do that lol.

I tried this after playing 7dtd a while and watching your videos. Made a copy of the game like you said. Downloaded a few of the minor quality of life mods from your other video into my recent game. The game crashed because of the item stack mod, after deleting them out of the folder again, my whole character and progress had reset.... my inventory, level skillpoints etc.. while al the inventory outside of my character did stay the same. But after already played 70 hours this is pretty f*cked. Deleted the copy and opened the master safe with steam, ITS THE SAME..... PLEASE IF SOMEBODY KNOWS HOW I CAN FIX THIS AND MAYBE GO BACK A FEW SAVES OR SOMETHING??? help is muchhhh appreciated
I currently don't know the solution to your problem, but resolving mod conflicts (is that is what is going on for you?) is out of the scope of this video.
I don't think it's viable anymore to simply put an unzipped mod folder into "Mods". I think the contents of the unzipped mod folder have to be put into "Mods". I could be wrong.
Dude thank you for this! I've been wanting to tweak the S core stuff in the Romero mod and had no idea how to do it until now. Question though... Mine doesn't have the code in there for broadcasting containers. Can I just find that somewhere else and copy it back in to make it work?

A while back you mentioned showing us an inventory broadcast Mod. I got to the end of this thinking you wern't gonna show it here and man there it was. I love you man. You just made Darkness Falls 1000% better.
well dang I did everything you said I even unloaded the game and reloaded to basic but Darkness Falls will not load. the game launcher did load as V5 instead of V3 like yours but all others followed and this dang game just hates me...
Make a copy of your game and re-name the copy to something like 7D2D-DarknessFalls. Create a "Mods" folder and stick in the game directory. Put the Darkness Falls mod CONTENTS (not the unzipped folder) in the Mods folder. Open the game by double-clicking on the 7DaysToDie.exe file that's in the newly created copy of the game, NOT the 7DaysToDie_EAC.exe that's in there. That should open the modded game. I hope that helps!
Thanks for showing us SCore I'm not ngetested in Undead Legacy, considering how much more grinding there is. But I am super interested in the broadcast setting!
There really isn't that much grinding in UL. Sure, you have to mine more than in vanilla, but it's not as crazy as people make it. Also you can simply increase block damage to 300% which speeds up mining significantly.
Thanks for the video! I appreciate that you showed both manual and mod launcher, as some people may want to use either method. The goal of the mod launcher is to make the mods more accessible, regardless of how they get installed.
I just make my own modlets when we play vanilla no overhaul, but for UL or DF we play it as is. And yes the people seem to be asking if its ApocalypseNow coming up next ! I hope so too xD
The fire concept is good? ...but it feels like it NEEDS ways to extinguish the fire. Maybe some feature to allow you to throw bottles of water at it, or toss buckets of water to put out the flames.
Love it! I always wondered what ModLauncher looked like but never had a need to use it since I manually handled all my mods. Very nicely put! Also, are we getting hints at future projects? Would love to see a GNS run through ApocNow!
I'm giving heavy consideration for AN but for now I need a break from big overhaul mods. So just light mods on the next series. 30-35 planned episodes. And we'll see where A21 development is when it's over 🙂
@@GunsNerdsandSteel makes sense! You just did DF and UL back to back, time to unwind for a bit! There's some big changes to AN coming with A21, so it may be best to wait and let those updates come down the line first. AN will be a completely new beast with A21!
This is great. S core looks like the exact mod I've been looking for. Configurable overhaul mod.. I'd also be interested to see a similar video on mod creation. I know you made a zombie spawner mod and I'd be interested in seeing how that process went.
can someone help me? Every time I install it, unzip and then click the launcher it says I need an app and takes me to the store. No matter what I do I cant open the launcher
Modlauncher is kind of a mess. Doesn´t work for 3 out of 5 people for us. Manual install is the best. I even prefer manual over steam workshop. Conan Exiles is the best example for that. Btw, how about conan exiles for your channel? Vanilla first then with Age of Calamitous and/or EEWA that would be a ton of content. Regarding Score, that´s a problem with many mods for all games. They simply exist and there is no or just a very vague description of it. I am pretty sure i missed out on a ton of good mods just because i couldn´t find out what they actually do unless i install them and try it for myself.
Yeah Manual install is BEST, but there are sooooo many people who are not savie with a computer that 'easy' internet programs are the ONLY thing they can handle. 😑 Give me manual install every time!!

@@SphereII Well, i am a fan of less is more when it comes to my PC. Clean and tidy. So if it isn´t something that is absolutly mandatry, i will avoid it. Less things installed means less things can go wrong and it´s one thing less that needs attention when troubleshooting. It took me a good amount of time to convince the others to do it manually. But if i have some spare time, i might join in for trouble shooting.
@@stephanstangl5573 One of the requirements for being hosted in the mod launcher is that its available for manual downloads. The mod launcher isn't designed for people who want control, flexibility, or advanced users. It's just another level of accessibility for users who want more than vanilla, but don't know how. With regards to the SCore, it's not intended to be used by a casual player directly. It's a library of features that overhaulers can use, who may not know how to code them, or don't have time to code them. For example, with food spoilage, several overhauls wanted it, so I wrote a core feature. Now multiple overhaulers can concentrate their time on balance and bling, rather than just trying to get some kind of feature written from scratch.
This video majorly helped me. I didn't expect the mods to be so simple to install. I have a feeling that now that I play with the trader always open I'll never want to go back lol
How do mods affect multiplayer if the other players don't use the same (or any) mods? For instance I play with friends by just starting a game and inviting friends into it. Would me having a texture improvement or UI over haul or whatever mods 'mess' with how my friends play?
I love the idea of having the storage broadcast mod for crafting. It makes it so much easier and one of my favourite things about watching the Undead Legacy mod. Thank you for the video Temreki.
People will need to start using the %APPDATA% Mod folder as it will become the default Mod folder location. Something, something required, something, something, Microsoft Store. That said, you can create symbolic links in Windows using the `mklink` command. If you use that, your Mod folder can live anywhere and you can use `mklink` to create a link so that the game knows where to look. If you know linux, its the windows version of `ln`. For those who want to do things on their own, you can write powershell and batch script using the mklink command and have a whole bunch of overhauls and modlets available with surprisingly little tomfoolery once confiugured. EVERYONE INSTALLING MODS MANUALLY - MAKE A COPY AND MOD THAT COPY OR THE ORIGINAL. IF YOU HAVE THE SPACE, ALWAYS LEAVE YOURSELF AN UNTOUCHED COPY OF VANILLA. Also, Sphereii has an %APPDATA% compliant version of the mod launcher, V4. And SCore is awesome.

i followed the steps downloaded darkness falls with the launcher and there is no play button just modlets and update is there something i did wrong without realising?
I'm using a gamepass version. They are anal about everything. I can't make a copy. But I may be able to manually mod it. I can not figure out which path to copy for the launcher to use to install the mods. Any ideas? Thx man.
Currently having an issue where upon uninstalling and reinstalling Darkness Falls for a new update, the mod launcher no longer downloads the mod files. When I click "Play" it launches the game, but it's only vanilla 7DTD. I don't have a vanilla copy, and downloaded a fresh one from Steam to use for the mod. I've tried with Darkness Falls and Apocalypse Now, same issue both times. Have tried making a new folder on my hard drive and reassigning the mod launcher to use that for downloads, and have tried removing the mod launcher and reinstalling it as well. No matter what I seem to do, it just installs the base game with none of the mod files. Anyone know a fix for this, or should I reach out in the mod launcher Discord?
For most mods you don't have to make a shortcut. I personally never used one and it always started with the included mods. Darkness Falls and Undead Legacy at least work perfectly fine with starting in Steam if you put it in the original folder. And if you want to change the mod just rename the folder.
There are a lot of mods the Mod Launcher does NOT have. For example: Better Vehicles ... a mod i cant play without. Hate those damn slow vehicles from Vanilla. It's a pain in the bud to trawel from one trader to another with Vanilla vehicles.
This is nice !! Now I wonder, you can't play a world with mods with your friends? Because you said you had the vanilla intact to go back and play multiplayer. Is it possible to, lets say, 5 people install the same mods and play together?
I HIGHLY recommend not using the mod launcher. Please don't use it. I help community members trouble shoot their mods on a daily basis and 9/10 times people are needing help its because of that damn thing...
So other than setting up SCore you just drop 0-SCore into the mod folder? I'm trying to install it but 7d2d just crashes to desktop. I've tried it with UL and Vanillia. Sorry to bother you with this but theres next to nothing on the internet concerning this mod. Any help would be very appreciated.
ive downloaded undead legacy, when it launches and the funpimps logo comes and goes the writing below that stay and its a black screen and ive waited for about 15 20 mins, redownloaded it, restarted my pc ect ect. not 100% sure what im meant to do, any suggestions??

Sucks that the mod launcher ui went from that to whatever it is today, Mod launcher looks nothing like that now and makes the modding process for 7D2D ten times more tedious than it needs to be. : /
I need you help on how to install the mod launcher onto a different drive. Im trying to install the mod launcher for 7 days to die on my E Drive cause my C Drive is too full to use the mod launcher on, but everytime i see how its working it tells me all mods are gonna be working on my C Drive. I cant get it to work right or to redirect it from my C Drive to my E Drive. Do you know how to fix this glaring issue, if you do please inform me on how to do it.
fun fact, it is possible to mod games on xbox, issue with me is i dont know any file/folder/subdirectories at all, i need help and i would appreciate, and it is done through recreating every file/folder/subdirectories and placing mods in a new mods folder, and help would be appreciated
Question: I have tried installing compo pack with undead legacy but I cannot seem to find it in the modlet search window. Also, I've tried manually installing it but UL doesn't have a mods folder to place the files into. Can anyone please help with this? Thanks so much.
