How to install new dash speakers in 2012 Ram 1500

I show you how to replace the dash speakers in your dodge ram, i believe this process will work from 2009-2018 dodge ram. I utilize a router to custom fabricate a speaker adapter for my new Sundown audio 2.75 FR v2 speakers. these are an odd shaped speaker so i had some challenges in getting them in. if your just putting normal tweeters up there or replacing with direct fitting speakers like any 3.5" speaker you wont need to do that.

I was going to replace my front door speakers in my Dodge Ram 2010, which I already have the speakers, 3-way 6x9. I didn't even know about the dash speakers. Would just replacing the door speakers be enough you think. I just listen to 70's 80's Pop music, Sirius sports stuff and not real loud. My factory speakers sound ok but not great that's why I want to upgrade. I am just wanting a better clear sound like I had in my 97 Dodge Ram.

If you haven't already replace the radio first. The door speakers are actually pretty decent. Plus they are super shallow so in order to upgrade you have to spend some money. Replace radio and replace dash speakers

@@AntonJMiller thanks, I already have an Alpine radio CD/MP3 player that was in my old trunk. I may have to hook that up and see the difference. I know in my old truck it sounded great.

@@AntonJMiller My Alpine radio will not work since with my factory radio I have Sirius radio. I know they make new radios with Sirius but think I will try the speakers first. For the music I listen to 60, 70 and 80's music mainly think it should be fine or a little better than it is now. If not I will look at getting a new radio with Sirius.

Just another question, I have pioneer ts-a6962r 250 watt speakers. Old speakers but have never been used. Is 250 watts speakers pretty good for pop and rock music not heavy bass type music? Thanks I ordered my Metro speaker connectors and should have them in this weekend.

@@Berkner80 it will be fine but the issue with most 6x9 is that they have a tweeter.

Why did you make the extra part to hold the tweeter? Will they not fit in the factory holes?

Correct. These are slightly smaller than the factory speakers

Should have gone with the kicker tweeters. Perfect fit and sound amazing. No fab required.

Take out the windshield and cut the hole. Or do some sort of dash pod if it will fit. But likely wont.

@@AntonJMiller i ended up switching them out today for a pair of audiofrog 2.5 on the factory amp for now till i run wires to it from my d'amore 4 channel amp they sound am now can't wait to get them on a real amp

These videos really tick me off when I see people installing and taking customers good money and then use electrical tape. They literally make an aftermarket harness for the tweeters you can solder to the speaker and never have to splice into the factory wiring, makes zero sense not to use them. And the fact you used no bass blocker is concerning as well.

Personal vehicle. The harnesses you speak of are great, but no professional will use them due to the over head/having to order them for the job. Just like buying speaker adaptors vs making them. For full range speakers on low power you do not need a "bass blocker". If you are concerned about your radios HPF not covering you at say 80 or 120 hz on a FR then sure, but bassblockers generally do not do all that great at the 300hz to 150 hz level. You'd be far better off going active at that stage which is where this build is now...
