You try it with less. These are the worst type of connection ever used. Use as much as you think you need, then x by 10, the double it, and you still won't use enough.
I always put jointing paste on the olives, stops drips and stops leaks if pipe is knocked in the future. Also try and put PTFE on so it tightens on to the thread when winding it in 👍🏾
Some negative comments about the amount of PTFE used if you've ever fitted one and had it leak you wouldn't complain and I don't mean standing up to your ankles in water leaking I mean putting some kitchen towel under it coming back in an hour to find a single drop and having to drain the system down again you will never comment about using to much tape
It was fairly painful to watch, especially incorrectly winding on the PTFE tape! However, the radiator in question looks like a Kudox type and I can tell you now, I recently fitted 3 of these babies and everyone of them leaked from the tail. Massive pain to drain down and sort out! I usually put 10 to 12 wraps of PTFE on the tails but I needed to put at least 20 turns on these to ensure they didn't leak. So the sarcastic comments regarding the amount used in this vid weren't valid and the guy obviously knew what he was doing...or at least partly. Anyway I've given him a like!
What is the correct way to wind the tape - is it the direction? The rad I replaced last night has tail drips, so I think I didn't use enough tape and maybe got the direction wrong.
@@DrNickBailey you just put it on so when you screw it in, it gets pushed around in the same direction that you put it on. So basically put it on in the same direction he lifts the wrench.
Thanks for sharing. I didn't mind any mistakes as this video helped me to avoid major flooding after one of the fixings started leaking. p.s. today is Sunday and I have never done any plumbing. Whew...
Back in the day, the TRV was fitted on the Feed/Flow side, to prevent the TRV ‘knocking’ from time to time (possibility, if fitted on the Return side). Nowadays, however, most rad valves are unidirectional, so, you can fit on either side.
use enough PTFE there? now I need someone to tell me how to undo the pipe nut so I can replace pipe hahahahah you did way I had surmised I just can't undo the feckin bolt whole thing just turned like welded on hahahah hahahahaha FML , also if anyone needs pipe eating pets let me know......:/
@@fieldfest Ah right I was looking at the loctite stuff! But we have redone all the tails with a lot more ptfe and all but one is sealed up and stopped leaking the last one is just a tiny bit wet now so I will redo that one and keep my fingers crossed! If we were going to do it again I would get loctite 55 or loctite 577 they have good reviews
@@gplusgplus2286 This is helpful info. I replaced my first rad last night (structure had failed) but when I finished I noticed drip on both tails. Damn. Think I didn't do nearly enough PTFE. Also is there a direction it should be wound on?
Stupid? or idiot? Don't bother to answer as you hold both entities since birth for sure hence your arrogant comment. By the way his spelling is wrong however he can school you son technical wise for sure.
