If your shifts are not feeling as smooth as you think they should in your Civic, these are the bushings you need to replace. I show you step -by-step how to replace them in this video.
I gave up on the round bushings up front. They simply would not stay in. I did them dry, frozen and nothing. I managed to get them in at the end but once installing metal tube they’d pop out again. I don’t know what I did wrong. The only thing I can see is that your linkage’s hole is completely straight and mine has a taper to it.
I had a hard time with the rear bracket bushing and found out that if you take a little dawn dish detergent it’s so slippery that the bushing pop on without a hiccup. Wished I had tried it earlier
Just a tip to anyone else who has issues getting them to stay in before you mount the linkage back to the trans, freeze them or put them in dry. They won’t pop back out that way. I had an awful time getting mine to seat properly
@@logansheppard3066 I did. No lube and I froze them following your suggestion! One side would still pop out ha and I did try a clamp as well and no go. Oh well, I put it back together with the original bushing. Thanks though.
Yeah I have the black for my D15B, the two piece is just straight up too big for the slot, I can get one half in with my 12 ton press, but it immediately pops back out when you let up
I believe it is a different set of bushings for the b-series. Easiest way to figure it out, go to rockauto.com select your vehicle, look under the manual transmission tab and it will give you the energy suspension part number.
I think the 2001 Civic is a little different, it may use cables instead of linkage. Go to rockauto.com and put in your vehicle type and go to manual transmission and see what bushings are available. Even if you don't buy them there you can get the part number and see what you need.
I bought this kit and am waiting for delivery. I noticed that I have lots of side play for the piece that shifter connects too. I assume there is a bushing there too. Is this correct? The kit does not include this.
There's another bushing kit that's used in the shift rod assembly. Turns out this is the bushing kit I needed, not the ones used in this video. It's actually these bushings that fail most often, not the ones in this video. Many people replace these for a stiffer shift feel. Honda doesn't sell a kit for these bushings, but NAPA does. Never a good idea. I almost died from my car falling on me because of a failed jack. If my tire was off the car it would have crushed me. Don’t even try
