Thank you so much! I've fought with caulk for ages and this looks like a fabulous game changer! I can't wait to impress my son and husband! Thank you! Thank you!
Thank you! I need to re-caulk my kitchen and I was trying to figure out how the caulk was originally done to look so perfect. This cleared that up and now I know I can do the job and make it look just as professionally done. That is awesome!
I will never silicone without glass cleaner (without ammonia) again. The results, speed and quality of the bead are pretty much clean and flawless, with no mess AND clean fingers, although I spray a little on my finger with each wipe. After seeing this, it appears I don’t need to and will try without. Nice job/instructional video. 👍🏼
The best video on caulking - just tried it over the weekend and it surely works like a charm. And I am no pro at this and used to hate caulking because it would never come right. Thank you for sharing this tip!
Thank you for the tip about the spry, I just had to do the same job as you and used that exact glass cleaner. Came out nice. Going to use this for future jobs when applying silicon.
It will fail prematurely this is a stupid idea. I have installed sealant professionally for over 40 years and have had to repair 1000s o& feet of sealant because of this stupidity
@@Moneybagsss yes the spray WILL make it fail prematurely. And it is easy to make it look good with the spray, but it will not be bonded well. So if it is in an area that will never get wet and you don’t mind replacing it every few years then use the spray. But if it will get wet and you want it to last 20-30 years, then mask and dry tool. Much more tedious takes twice as long but will actually perform as intended.Professional caulkers have a saying “ pretty is nice but bonded is better” sealants purpose is to stop water infiltration. That doesn’t mean it should be ugly but it is very unwise to choose looks over actually making it water tight.
Thank you so much! I was just looking at my tub today thinking I need to remove the old caulk an replace. You’ve made my job 100% easier when I caulk. Now if I could find a way to make old caulk removal easier. Thanks you again.
Wish I saw this before I pulled half my hair out trying to use silicone caulk to redo my shower insert and window UGH! Between having unusable half tubes of caulk and trying to be meticulous and correct boo boos with water, mineral spirits, and denatured alcohol (just bought today) I am beyond frustrated. I wish your video had popped up sooner. I really don't want to go out and buy another product, but I have spent waaaay to much time on this already (your gloating about it taking one minute made my BP rise 🤣). This project WILL be completed by the end of this weekend 🤞. Thank you for sharing.
A contractor showed me tips: 1. Cut the old silicone with a cutter. 2. Clean around to eliminate dirt and grease (you can use thinner or white spirit). 3. Mask with painter tape. 4. Apply the silicone. 5. Wet your finger and press to even the finishing.
Thank you. I tried as instructed and it worked really well. I didn't use a caulking gun though. I had 2oz GE silicone in tube so i just used it without a caulking gun but it worked just fine. I used ammonia free glass cleaner and it really helped a lot. Thank you very much~
I'm getting mixed messages another video a had a couple drops of laundry detergent liquid in a bottle of water sprayed and then negative comments about not having water around the silicone because it won't allow it to adhere to any adjacent surfaces which is the whole point to bridge the gap sufficiently.
Man. This is amazing. Many many thanks. I have now done most my work, however next time I shall look up this video. I made such a mess and the cleanup too three times longer than the application. Q: what’s the equivalent to liquid glass in Australia...... ?
I’m an Aussie lady .. I’ve never seen spray glass cleaner in a can .. hopefully we sell it here maybe at Bunnings (if any other Aussie might know ?) I suppose we can’t just use the normal blue window spray in a pump bottle ?
Yeah it's 100% needed, silicone sticks to EVERYTHING and of course it's waterproof so once it's stuck to fingers, it's a right pain in the arse to get off.
WHAT to do when you finish the line and want to stop and the pointer just continues to flow silicone please? It is a mess. I have never done this before and asking a professional is very expensive today. We women, it was never shown to us. And how to push/shove or finish the silicone once it is applied please? It is also too expensive to buy a new kitchen worktop. Please thank you to let me know which spray I should buy? It is the same way of working when I use transparant silicone? Many thanks
ahahm It's the Kobalt no drip caulking gun from Lowes. By far, may favorite gun. Down side is that it can be broken if dropped off a ladder. It's a composite and metal body and trigger. Just don't drop it and it will be your favorite gun also. 👍
My kitchen sink has had part of the silicone completely degrade over time. The guy at the hardware store told me to not take it all off in the event the sink is held up by the silicone. I assume in this case I should clean the areas where there is no silicone and simply re-apply silicone to those sections, Is this correct?
