Your tutorials are awesome just wanted to point out in this particular tutorial when you were installing the wall piece the nailing just above the cantstrip was right on but you did not nail the end of the wall piece that ends just past the bottom end of the cantstrip which could leave the cantstrip vulnerable to being super heated and ignite. However at the end of your video it looked to me that the wall piece was nailed at the point where the floor and cantstrip meet. For me as a fellow roofer I loved the tutorial and I understood everything you were teaching in how to apply the material. The reason I pointed this out is for the novice homeowner watching this tutorial to make sure the end of the wall piece is not only nailed an inch above the cantstrip but also at the very edge just past the bottom part of the cantstrip as well to ensure fire safety. Notice I used the terminology SUPERHEATED. A fireman use that word with me because what superheated means the flame can heat something up so hot that it could ignite maybe even 45 minutes to an hour later. And we definitely don't want to overheat or superheat the can't strip cuz that's more flammable than the wood itself.
Totally agree and appreciate the comment. Generally speaking not a big fan of DIY torchers, even though my videos might encourage some. There is joust to much that can go wrong for someone learning and trying this for the first time.
Yes, in Southern California allot of our roofs pond water. If your roof has less then a 1/4” per foot slope I do not recommend going with a self adhered product.

I have a flat roof with one layer of roofing. I would like to do a torch down roof on top of the existing material. can I put a torch down on top of the existing roof?
Yes, you can either nail a base sheet down then torch, or you can prime the existing roof. If it’s a large area over 300sqft I recommend installing a nail down base then torching
Honestly we don’t mess with that, the best way is to use a tapered iso board system which gets very complicated and expensive. Especially if there is any mechanical equipment on the roof. I just roof in such a way that even with ponding water the roof doesn’t leak.
Do you think I could get away with 2-in diameter roofing tins paired with a standard roofing nail for my base sheet? No one in my area sells the steel washer ring shank nails. I could get the 3-in steel discs used for EPDM underlayment but they are very expensive and also kind of thick.

You should not adhere a SA membrane directly to wood deck. Nail down a layer of Polyglass Elastobase then use a SA membrane on top. A few reasons for this; 1) doesn't adhere to well directly to wood. 2) wood expands and contracts at a different rate which may cause problems in the future. 3) Elastoflex SA V is not a fire rated system if used by itself. 4) Manufacturer does not recommend it.
You got the 9"&18" right but your 18" Nail pattern is wrong. Instead of every 18" putting 2 nails even with each other your supposed to stager them so you gave a nail every 9" alternating sides.

Our roofing supplier carries it. most suppliers don't, our supplier pretty much carries it for us. It's a great product but for some reason most suppliers only stock the cheap stuff.
