i tray the link to order , once i click add to cart show error , WordPress Error . I would like to order one to my Goldwing . if you can add it in ebay will be great
Thanks for the video. I am the furthest thing from a mechanic and managed to install this. Only a few curse words. Holding up the plastic as you put the screws and pushpins back in just seems harder than it should be. But with a little patience certainly can get in there. I managed to do it without dropping a screw or push pin so I consider it a major success for me.
Great work! The method prescribed is a bit of a pain, but the alternative is to remove the shelter, which adds hours and hours of work and about 100+ screws!
@@Traxxion Ha, was no where near that painful. Took me maybe 15 minutes longer than you but it's all good! Honda just makes some things trickier than they need to be. But not complaining and would have no other bike!
I finally installed the "steering safety pin." Do what Max does, but be sure the "tab" under each "wing" that Max was pulling on to adjust the "underlying holes" is aligned with the hole on the underlying black plastic. I was surprised as to how much bending you can do with the painted plastic wings surrounding the center pocket; just don't bend them too far. I also used the allen wrench ball ends of my allen wrenches; 5 mm.
My left side plastic was extra difficult to un-snap, when I pulled back with both hands (wore gloves) it finally gave but it also broke off the end tip of securing lip. Everything else went ok, applied light anti-seize grease to the pin and installed easily. The plastic went back into place but not 100% secured due to broken tip. Not too concerned about it. Still looks good.
@@Traxxion LOL...Good one. BTW, your radar detector bracket looks and works well even after installing the Heli-Bar riser. I do not see the need to change it.
@@alp3781 We added a shallow bend to it to make it perfectly level for use with the risers. You could do that at home with a bench vise if you wanted to.
Hi, i would like to buy your safety pin. I'm a bit dissapointed, that now the price is 5 $ more than last week. But i'm really dissapointed about the shipping cost to Germany, because 38 $ is much too high!.......
Hi Jurgen, I will honor the $5 discount to Germany! The flat rate box can hold many of our other small items. Please check out kickstand pad, glovebox lock, dipstick extender, super seat bolts, emergency key assistance tab, mirror stop, etc.... So sorry about shipping cost, not my control!
I looked on your website to order this insert , and also pushpins if possible? But it only shows something over $150. I must not be seeing the correct item because on comments it was saying a $20 part. Too early to get this insert?
I watched this video and a few others, carefully slid the console forward (I thought) and lifted up. It broke the mounting hole on the back of the console. Not sure what to do now other than have to buy a new $700 console?
I haven't heard of that happening before. I'm sure the plastic housing can be epoxied back together. No one will be able to see the underside. You'll have to remove it completely and turn it upside down on a table to repair it.
@@Traxxion thanks Max. I'm just worried after I epoxy it back together will the mounting tab snapping in and out of it weaken it again. I'll give it a shot.
@@Traxxion Max sorry to keep replying but someone shared this part number with me. I can't find a pic but it might be that plastic panel on the backside of the console that has the square hole tab. Can you see this part on any parts diagrams you have? "Stay center console 64511-MKC-A00"
@@Traxxion i was confused because during the process you opend the front pocket and the Air Bag model can't open that part. Instead of the pocket there is the AirBag.. Thanks a lot
When I popped up the left side plastic, a tiny rice grain size piece of plastic broke off (out of site). Later, plastic won't lay down flat where it belongs. Be careful.
There is a black Honda pop rivet that is used to facilitate assembly that pops off when that cover is removed. It isn't necessary, and we don't put it back when we reassemble. If your plastic isn't laying correctly, there is another problem somewhere you need to look for.
@@Traxxion Thanks Max! It lays exactly down where it belongs, but the springness of the plastic causes it to float up. A drop of glue and it is all fixed.
@@paulbickley658 No, we don't know of anyone injured yet. Not that you would be able to tell anyone if this happened while riding, because you would be dead.
Watch the videos he put out previously. This is a potential problem he discovered and as he does so brilliantly, finds a solution. The bike is the finest in the industry, but we all find ways to make it better for us. Consequently our aftermarket teammates. Max owns the bike and has been at rhe forefront of give us alternatives. Thx Max.
Easy protection against the catastrophic failure to the steering head spindle. I saw the bike where the spindle split due to excessive tension in the tie down straps. They were tied to the handle bars. Get the tie brackets from GoldStrike
I get that, it does add some rigidity to the aluminum tube. But if it breaks off at the threads, how does that pin keep it connected? And why not a solid steel replacement?
Those pesky push pins 🤬. Another informative video filmed in real time giving real sense of the awkward and tricky. Not in multiple takes edited together👍
I had to chuckle at Chris "Cruiseman's Garage" who posted a laborious vlog arguing that you've over stated the steering head issue and that 2018+ owners don't need to panic over the possibility of the steering failing. The next day Chris tells us he's one bought one and has made a video on how to fit it!
