Nice video. I like how you take the time to respond to every single comment. Excellent and extremely rare these days. I bought a used '14 with 1.5" spacers and need to replace the front pads and rotors. I'm gonna use blue loctite since I have a large bottle of it. Thanks for the tip on the extended thread lug nuts. I'll see if I can pick them up locally today otherwise I'll order a set.

@@FreedomCrawler The spacers are 1.25" and made SpyderTrax (which I believe is a reputable brand). MSRP is $109 on their site. The nuts that came with them are very, very short. The set I ordered on Amazon does not fit into these spacers at all - the hole in the spacers is too small and the cone shaped part of the nuts are way too long compared to what was originally installed. This causes the nut to sit proud of the the face of the spacers which renders them unusable since the wheel won't sit flush with the spacer. I had to return the Amazon nuts unfortunately.

Getting ready to do either 1.25" or 1.5" spacers on my 3rd gen, very much appreciated information. I never thought or knew about the extended lug nuts somehow. I found hub centric sets on eBay for about 60 to 80 bucks a set(4) depending on size and look like what you have. Think I'm going to go for it. Looks good 👍

thanks for the Video I hadn't seen those type of lug nuts. what I would like to add to the video for others is, U can actually buy studs from a lexus is 300 that are the same thickness and thread u need for a toyota tacoma except they are a bit longer so u can get even more thread for an even safer ride. For even more piece of mind I would buy the ARP brand which probably makes the highest tinsel strength bolts Ive heard of. in my opinion with all these things one can actually hit bumps and go off road without any problems and more piece of mind

Spacers are fine if you get a good brand and install them correctly. Those are the two biggest issues. I’ve ran everything from rough country, spidertrax, g2, supreme and cheap amazon ones. All very similar with different names on them. If you’re spending $80-$100 + then you should be good. If you’re spending $20-50 I’d reconsider. Not saying they won’t work but you never know

@FreedomCrawler

Lug nuts you can find on amazon, at discount tire, eBay or online from gorilla lug nuts, etc. Adapters are as safe as the installer. I know a lot of people who race, rock crawl and daily drive with them with zero issues. I have never (knock on wood) had any issues with adapters. Absolutely recommend being more safe than sorry with lug nuts

For every car that I have put spacers on, which is 4, they all called for red loctite on the oem studs, and blue loctite on the actual adapter/spacer studs. The red loctite keeps the spacer/adapter nuts from backing out. The blue loctite keeps the wheel lugs securely on. The blue is easy to take off. You need heat to take off the red loctite.
@FreedomCrawler
@FreedomCrawler 11 месяцев назад
Using loctite is definitely key.

Honestly I’ve used just about every brand from cheapest to expensive and they are all very similar. I know there’s metal strength differences that I can’t see though. Should be fine. Do the Toyota wheels bolt right up to the Yukon? If so do you need the spacer or want it for looks? Either way so long as all the bolt patterns are the same then it downs matter if it’s Toyota or GMC. You just need the bolts patterns to be the same and if they are hub centric wheels to make sure you still have hub centric spacers that fit. The issues come when you have incorrect bolt patterns, play/movement anywhere, incorrect installation, and hub centric or not.

I think it will be helpful to put the name of the manufacturer of the spacers.

Should have got first gen Toyota Tundra or Sequoia lug studs.
@FreedomCrawler
@FreedomCrawler 3 года назад
So much easier to get the extended thread lug nuts than to replace studs.

You had to buy extended lug nuts separately? Why bother buying from that manufacturer?
@FreedomCrawler
@FreedomCrawler 3 года назад
Because I haven’t seen any brand that offers them with extended lug nuts.

I bought from Supreme suspension and I had a mechanic look over my spacers and told me how dangerous they were as they only caught 5 threads or about a quarter of an inch. He suggested the spacers work if I got extended nuts. I am currently trying to get a partial refund from Supreme or I'm threatening against bad reviews everywhere
@FreedomCrawler
@FreedomCrawler 3 года назад
That’s kind of silly. For the Toyota application it requires extended lug nuts up front and I believe most of their literature says that. It’s only a few models that require it and I usually use et lug nuts anyways as it give a lot more bite. This is why I explain that in the how tos.

How to install wheel spacers: Take wheel spacers out of box and throw them in the trash then go out and buy proper offset rims🤷‍♂️
@FreedomCrawler
@FreedomCrawler 4 года назад
Sure if you want offset rims but if you want to run stock wheels this is the best option. If you run stock wheels then this works great.
