Given that you are not able to secure the rails from underneath, do you need to go back and re-tighten those screws very often? Also, how sturdy/strong is that rail with self tapping screws vs a nut and bolt? I have an Old Town Topwater 106 and would like to add some things, but am wary of self-tapping screws being secure enough. Thank you, Brent
Howdy Brent, on rails systems that use self tapping screws, I always select the ones that run on both side of the rail for sturdiness. If you have access through a hatch to install nuts and bolts, that is always the strongest method. I haven't needed to retighten any of them (i am using a camera boom on the rail) it's been rock solid.
yes absolutely, and you can also dip the butt of the rivet in silicone before you install them if you want (i do this on everything near the water line)
Yes. Yakattack has mounts for different fish finders. I just installed the rail and yakattacks cell block for the battery and then installed the mount on top of the cell block. Works perfect and looks great.
