Idk bout yours but usually most vaccum sealers seal automatically once they get all the air out. Pressing the seal button manually before it stops and seals itself you're not getting all that air out. The seal button is for making your own bags and sealing the first end. Just a tip🤙

Someone stole my orange Whaley from the streets of San Francisco a few months back. Luckily I had an Airtag inside the motor housing and tracked it down with the police to a meth ranch in the Los Gatos hills. I was able to recover the motor, but it had been separated from the boat (which had no tracker). I posted a bunch of reward posters across San Francisco and finally someone called - the boat was abandoned on the side of the road near Candlestick point. Now she's back in one piece :)

Wanted to thank you for all the salmon trolling and fishing tips. My two boys and I went to Lake Ontario and caught our first Kings, Cohos, steelhead, and even a large brown trout trolling. Between you and Die Hard's videos we had a blast trying to recreate what you have taught on your videos and we had a grand adventure and many memories made with my sons. I want to try your cable baiters on our next trip. We caught them all on spoons. All of the fish had 5"-6" shad in their bellies. I found out it is better to be there between July and September instead of June. Thanks again!

I've watched quite a few "how to cast a net" videos and one point many of them made, when casting from a boat DO NOT tie the net to your wrist, if the net hangs or you accidentally fall in the net can take you down with it before you can get it untied. Just hold the rope loosely in you hand.

Good job on the cast netting. If you want it to open better, experiment with how many weights you hold on the short end of the net. Once you find the right amount adjusted to how you throw, it will open up nicely every time instead of launching out a "taco!"

My grandpa was a commercial fisherman on the east coast in the 90s and when throwing a cast net to get a wider spread I was always told to hold part of the bottom of the net in my mouth. Great casts though! This was a really cool video, I'd never tried the ice and salt trick.

Mix sand and chum. Throw in a few scoops. The cloudy water will help hide the net from the bait ball and you will net more fish

In Sweden we only use vendace (Coregonus albula) when we troll for salmon and we fish for them when by one to not damage the scales and fins. Just use a size 16 hook and a single maggot, should work for anchovy as well. We put them in ice, salt and bicarbonate first and then freeze them as straight as we can.
@davidbalderston2751

You will find that your 8-ft net opens more readily if you soak it in a pail of warm water with a few cap fulls of fabric softener over night. include the throw line along with the net. The fabric softener causes the monofilament mesh to become soft and allows the weights to open the net more fully.

Sculpin comes from the ancient Greek σκόρπαινα (skórpaina) meaning scorpion. It was absorbed into Latin (scorpena) and eventually into French and English as scorpion in modern times. Spanish conquerors named the fish with the obsolete sailor term for fish that stung or were poisonous, "escorpión" and now in English - Sculpin. On the other side of the Americas, Portuguese sailors called these "stinger" fish, escorpião (basically escorpione) and cemented the term across the continent.

Hey wasn’t sure which platform would be the best to ask this on, but I’m a huge fan of fly fishing and was wondering if you ever plan on making the steelhead on a fly logo on a cap? I’m a huge fan of your videos and im hoping to get one of your apparel items as a “lucky fishing hat” and I felt the fly fishing one would suit perfect. I was curious if you had any plans for it cause if not I will go forward with the fish bones and tree cap so it’s no big deal either way, just wondering if it would be worthwhile to wait.

Perfecting the cast nest toss takes many hours of practice!! One advice a fisherman gave me was to never tie the end of the cast net to my wrist. Likely hood of you getting something large enough to pull you in is small but it's just a precautionary measure.

Great video. We freeze our bait the same way for catfish. Try one tray next time alittle dif. We pat the fish dry after removing from the ice before we tray them. It seems to keep them from getting as mushy when they thaw out.

If you want better results, make sure to get a net with the highest possible lb to ft. sinker weight. The difference between 1 and 1.5 lb/ft. is quite noticeable when casting in deeper areas into more spread out schools. Something that cuts the time going for bait allowing more time to fish.
@elgatodiablo6650
@elgatodiablo6650 2 года назад
The bellies will blow out no matter what you do. The reason is they are full of food and their bellies are are stretched thin. When the commercial companies make the tray bait, they starve them for several weeks so they 'empty' out and their bellies are not stretched so thin. It is impractical to attempt to replicate their processes. You could leave them in a bait receiver if you have a slip, but it literally will take several weeks and many of them will die.

Any time I learn something is a good day. I never did it but I had a friend that mixed salt into his water then made ice cubes. He used it in his cooler and it lasted all day and made everything colder. I originally thought he was nuts, we used salt to melt the ice off our porch and I thought it would just melt the ice faster. Wrong!! I never thought of doing it like you did. Thanks!!

Anyhow, why not just seal them in the freezer bags without the styrofoam tray, you can fit more and then all that styrofoam isn’t going into the waste pile? Is there a specific reason why you use styrofoam trays?

If right handed, hold the entire net on the right hand with the top of the net folded to make the net shorter. with your left hand grab 1/4 diameter bottom of the net (lead) with your left hand. when ready throw the net in a slight circular motion from right to left then release the rest from the left hand when you see the net open while throwing. this will open the net like to its diameter pan cake shape.
