At 65 my legs are still great, so I have begun to wear more dresses here in hot, humid Alabama summers. It’s also so much more comfortable. I love linen dresses and don’t mind looking “fashionably” rumpled as I call it. I’m petite, only 5 ft tall and formerly had an athletic inverted triangle shape, which I didn’t really mind. Age and a thicker midsection have transformed me into a rectangle. I’m always open to hearing new tips to look my best….not younger mind you…..just better at this age.
I enjoy how you model different fashion choices. It's really interesting to see how your styling tips can change the look of an outfit. You're teaching me all sorts of things!
Hello Deirdre. Another super useful video for me... I've put on a lot of weight in the last few years and my waist is gone...😅 I find the colour block tip especially useful. Your red blouse is beautiful!!
Hi lovely friends. I hope you are all well and that you enjoy this video. I am by no means saying anybody needs to change their body shape, but if you are looking to create the illusion of being a bit slimmer, this video is for you! Looking forward to your comments! Lots of love to you all. Deirdre. XX
Thank you for your wonderful content. Wanted to share a posture story and yes, just how much good posture can achieve. A friend broke her back a year ago, a terrible, painful and frightening thing, but ironically she looks amazing now. She has to watch her posture to prevent pain and to strengthen her back. I watched her correct herself one day and suddenly she looks 6 inches taller and 20 lbs slimmer - which also made her look younger too. Now I watch my posture all the time.
I love vertical stripe tops. Especially button downs. I am so happy to see that they are 'trendy' this spring and summer as I am stocking up. They have been terribly hard to find in the past years. They make a wonderful staple and classic in my wardrobe.
Hello Deirdre you look great in that red top really suits you. I should memorize the tips that you give I am under 5feet tall so all your tips are good for me the monochrome dressing and pointed shoes unfortunately I can't wear them for a long time. Have a great week and can't wait for your next video 💕
Some very helpful tips I would never think of which is why I love your changes! The jeans tip is excellent advice! I use to wear pointed shoes but cannot anymore due to feet issues but I agreed it sure looks good especially with pants.
I always look forward to Sunday to watch your newest video Dierdre! Your fashion tips are so helpful. Paying attention to our personal style can be so creative. Thank you! (Judi) 🇨🇦❤🇬🇧
11:02 I love your colors and tips but object to your fashions that show cleavage whether small or large. Nobody especially men want to see hanging breasts even a small amount. Modesty is queen
I love all the great suggestions. Heaven knows I need them! My only issue is with the pointy shoes. I'm an ex-ballerina who has had surgery on both feet. The narrow toe box on pointy shoes is downright painful on my feet. So it's oval, rounded, or square only, for me. 😕
I havnt been a ballerina but i could never were pointed shoes i like them on deidre but no way could i ever feel myself wearing them. I always choose a co ordinated colour and style but go for broad fronts on my shoes.
Hi Deirdre thank you so much again for another amazing very informative video i so look forward to to watching your video its the best part of my weekend Christine
I wear a lot of skirts and I find that my legs look their longest with low cut pumps (pumps that do not rise high on the foot). This is a lengthening effect that is more important than the shape of the toe box. Round toe (or my favorite, almond) pumps are as elongating as pointy toe pumps and a lot more comfortable. I think a smaller toe box (as opposed to the elongated one of a pointy toe pump) contributes to the illusion of longer legs by giving the illusion of tiny feet. The legs look long in comparison. Our brain is amazing. Pointy toes become important when the top of the foot is hidden, either by a pant leg or a loafer type shoe.
So glad 2 find ur channel, as your body shape/size nearly identical, but mine is newly-acquired from 1 yr wt loss. The mass is same as 30 yrs ago, but age has shape-shifted a lot, so I need to learn how to take best advantage!- I dont even pull off dressing with the panache u bring, but its reassuring or confidence-building that a number of these tips have been in my do/dont repertoires for awhile- an aging silver lining is I’ve simply had more time to improve with experience. Thank u for creating such a helpful channel where I need it most!!
I appreciate so much having info to help me look a bit taller than 5', especially given that my husband is 6'4" Even if only an illusion, it's great! At age 66, I shy away from higher heels than when I was younger, so any and all tips are very much appreciated. I guess we could also work on my husband creating a shorter appearance for himself.😉
Great tips Deirdre. I totally agree about having things tailored to fit. At barely 5ft most thing are too long for me. I can shorten hemlines myself but tops and blouses are often around my mid thigh. Going through my wardrobe recently i realised how many things I dont wear because of this so I took them to a local dressmaker for shortening. What a difference! Definitely worth the expense because I now have so much more to wear 👍
Bonjour Deirdre. Hope you are well also! Another inspiring video, by the way I love that you always have lovely flowers on your desk! Lots of love Monique Quebec Canada
I live in a cold climate and higher necklines are a must in the winter time. I like scarves, but they are fussy and sometimes, I just want to be warm and forget about it. Pendants, as mentioned in the video, help. As does the color blocking. Anything that creates vertical lines near the neckline. I am petite, but luckily (I see it now) I have a small bust.
Good morning Diedre, watching you from Central Florida... I'm 65 and about 5'8 1/2, 194 lbs., lost my waist several years ago and am having trouble with trying to lose weight as I no longer seem to have the will power in doing so😢, however I do like looking my best and I struggle with what looks good on me...when by chance I came across your channel and love your tips and advice to look slimmer... Another thing is I have big feet and have trouble finding comfortable shoes that don't make me look like I'm wearing boats😂anyway thank you for sharing, love watching you, you are a beautiful stylish woman and I love your tips and advice, I share these with my friends that are much shorter than me, but the same age. Thanks again ❣️🤗
I just found your channel, and I'm trying to play catch-up. I absolutely love it. Im 60 and live in Texas, which, of course, in the summer it gets to 110+ with 100% humidity. I just watched your bathing suit with cover-up options and adore those ideas, but what could I wear on a daily basis? Not to work, but just out and around without being so hot, but still looking great. You may already have a video on this particular topic, and I just haven't found it yet.❤❤❤.
Great video As I always say Nobody knows what size you have on but YOU! Don’t stuff your behind into pants just because of the size looking good is the most important thing 😊
Hello I’m new to your videos. I love your tips and will definitely be using them with my summer pics. Just wondering if you could add a plus size option in your suggestions at the end of your video. Thanks
I love that you yourself were the model! Very helpful to see exactly what works and doesn't! So many "look 10 lbs thinner" videos have super skinny and tall people as models! You're in great shape, of perfect weight (but not ultra thin), and you showed how to make a waist look more like a waist!! I thank you for this excellent video!!
I got a shirt for 5 dollars on the sale rack. Put it over my black vneck sleeveless I was wearing with black matching capris. I thought it was cool bc it was kinda loose, almost off the shoulder. But the all black more fitted outfit looks better than putting the loose shirt over. Slimmer.👍
Great advice thank you. Two pregnancies, 2 caesars and menopause and my poor old tum is in a sad state. Off to buy some shape wear knickers to wear under a winter dress... hopefully my pouch will be less discernible!😂
Thanks diedrie.. Very helpful as always so encouraging to watch your style tips and advice even I'm out of body shape but to arthritis I need to cover bad bits best I can.,😊 😊😊❤️
Hello again. I just tonight sort of "found you" and like your videos. This one is about trying to look taller, which is what I always try to do. I am not as tall as I´d like to be. I often wear dark tones or at least monochrome colors. I am slender but could have maybe one or one and a half inches more. You are right, heels help. Have a lovely summer. Regards from Northern Europe.
