This is one of the best videos I’ve seen. I’ve been a school counselor for 5yrs and I’m having the hardest time showing my leadership skills. Thank you for making this helpful
We're glad you found the video helpful! It's great that you're actively seeking ways to improve your leadership skills as a school counselor. Keep exploring resources and opportunities for growth, and remember that leadership is often demonstrated through actions and relationships. Keep up the good work! ~Yiana Team Member at Kathleen Jasper LLC
Dear Kathleen, I have watched your videos and have had 18 admin interviews this summer and fall and have not made it to the second round - I feel like I have answered the questions well , but maybe I am talking too much? Can you give some advice. They usually ask 8 prescribed questions and give you 3 minutes to respond to each one - they are timed.
I appreciate your dedication and effort in attending 18 admin interviews. It's possible that adjusting the length of your responses could be beneficial. While it's essential to provide comprehensive answers, consider focusing on key points within the given time frame. Practice concise responses that highlight your strengths and experiences. This might enhance your chances of progressing to the next round. Best of luck! 😊 ~Yiana Team Member at Kathleen Jasper LLC
@@KathleenJasperEdD Thank you so much for taking the time to reply. Two more interviews and I obtained my admin job. It’s the best fit for me! Thank you again!
I was just hired as the Activities principal at the HS! Thank you your videos helped break down the language of the questions and reflect on the experience we have as leaders in the school.
I listened to your information numerous times before the interview...took notes...and practiced in my head and out loud over and over! I got the job! I am now an AP at an Elementary schoo! Thank you for all the great information!
That's awesome. I have a whole playlist for the leadership interview and AP pool. Here is the link to that playlist: ru-vid.com/group/PLBtoj0Jl2SNxe_tjJBwuXGWnmBvoa3HTq
Very insightful! Be reflective and remember you are interviewing for entry level leadership within the district, so you need to think outside of the classroom and not give the impression that you already "know it all". Remember be honest and truthful. Don't lie or exaggerate.
It's excellent video. The information you gave will really help me a long way for my upcoming interview for the post of Principal. Thank you so much from the core of my heart.
I have an interview for an assistant principal position. It is 30 minutes. ALL of my interviews in the education field have been over an hour. They have about 10 30-minute interview blocks in one day. What should I expect?
Expect the questions to be focused and direct, likely targeting key aspects of educational leadership, management, and your vision for the role. Prepare to succinctly highlight your experiences, accomplishments, and how they align with the assistant principal position. Be ready to articulate your leadership style, approach to problem-solving, and your vision for the school community. Since time is limited, make sure your responses are clear, concise, and impactful. Good luck with your interview! ~Yiana Team Member at Kathleen Jasper LLC
I just got my leadership certificate and am considering apply for any opening I will find. School leadership is a complex domain and hiring teams have their sets of criteria equally complex. Awareness and personal experiences are key to success. Thank you for your videos, they are helpful.
@@KathleenJasperEdD after listening to your podcast here, and reading your site, I made second round interviews!!! First time in a long time. I was made to fly!!!! Thank you so much for helping me to do so...I will keep you posted.
Loving the content and continue to discover valuable nuggets for my interview prep. I’m interviewing for the position of Principal at a school I’m very familiar with and wanted to know if it’s appropriate to develop a 30/60/90 day plan and have it ready to share? If not the first interview, what about for round 2?
@@KathleenJasperEdD Thanks! I ended up not doing it and moving into the second round of interviews wahooo! I'm in a unique situation because I'm interviewing with my same school. The first round was the principal and associates, but tomorrow I'm going in with the entire A Team, 11 AP's to be more specific. If I was nervous the first round, I think I'm going to have a heart attack this second round. Do you have any specific recommendations? Are they going to ask the same things? Should I be prepared for an extra surprise?!
