As an electronic engineer graduate from one of the top 50 university,I have learned more 'real' stuff on youtube channels like you have here than in school. I started my repair business not long ago and definitely going to learn a lot from you in the future. My salute gentleman.

Plasterer painter here, I spend money on 30€ microfiber rollers, I see colleagues laughing their asses off at how much I spend, but when you look at how much I spend for 10 jobs, and compare it to how much they spend for 10 jobs, I'm spending nearly 5x less on reusable tools such as rollers than they are on their cheaper ones that they have to throw out because strands are falling out ... and the best thing is, I'm doing a much better job than they are, despite having less experience. I have always been told by people I would consider my "mentors" (actual people I look up to) to spend the money on the good tools, as they will pay for themselves 1000x over, and will always do a better job at what they are made to do than the cheaper stuff. Then again, you got to take care of your tools. I have a drywall powertool (screw thing, visseuse in French) that is over 10 years old. It was given to me by one of my "mentors" and still today, works way better than some of the newer stuff that comes out these days.

I wish I had seen this video sooner, because it really made me see the possibilities of creating a business like the one you have from a more realistic point of view...Not too long ago, in a effort to start a small PC repair Business, I was going to purchase all this great tools you recommend in some of previous videos, right of the bet, and without really thinking through how was I going to get my investment back. After listening to this video, I can say that I will get the cheap tool that I can afford now in order to get the job done until I can earn enough money to pay for quality tools... Priceless information indeed!

This is something my boss understands, yet he suffers wit the same old tools he had when he bought the store. The problem is that he screwdrivers are so worn out that they don't grip the screws well! Soon after I went full time there he bought me new craftsman screwdrivers (I don't have a full set, just the handful that I actually use) and some other new tools to replace the worn out ones. By the time I got there he had learned that cheap cordless drills aren't worth buying, and we have bought 3 Hitachi cordless drills in the 10 years I've been there, one of those was to have a second so he has his own and I have mine. I've learned over the years the value of good tools, I see the difference between what working is like with crapy tools, and with good ones. As long as I am using them to make my money, I want the best tools I can get to work with. If this work is what makes me my income, why would I let cheap, crappy tools lower the quality of my work, or worse yet, prevent me from finishing it altogether.

Louis, hat off. To be honest I didn't like the American way of doing business until I heard you speaking. I am looking to become an entrepreneur and I was searching something of added value to offer until I came across your channel and got inspired. I will let you know if I will pursue this path. If you ever get seriously ill just let me know; besides PC repair, alternative medicine that works is my hobby. Cheers.

At 31:00...I learned this principle at an intership with STIHL. Spend the money to do the best job possible for producing optimal results to better satisfy customers. Try and always improve services and treat employees like they are the greatest asset you have because they are. Empower them to be creative and grow. I have watched quite a few of your videos. Good stuff man. I try and implement a lot of the same thinking in iDoctor.

Great video, I'm still of the stage of working by myself. store opened Jan 13 at a University campus in the UK. I have staff in a couple days a week sometimes all week depending on trade, due to only being open about 30 weeks a year because of term time i need to expand to bring in local clients and run all year round so im not living on the poverty line. your videos are helping its just getting ready for that leap of faith. Currently spreading myself too thin and missing income due to this. Keep the good business related videos coming, along with the technical ones of course!

great video! can you please talk about that big ass BGA machine u bought in a future video. That thing looks like beast. Damn i subscribed to u when you had like 20 subscribers. now you have 1000+. and tht was 1-1.5 years ago. well deserved.
@rossmanngroup
@rossmanngroup 10 лет назад
It still kills me seeing 1400+ subscribers everytime I log in. But then I look at Michelle Phan or Eli the Computer Guy & feel like a humble youtube peasant again.. I wanted to but it came with a fucked up nozzle/rod. My machine was one of the first where they modified it in production so the seller was telling me how to fix the problem on the old machine, but I had a new one. I damn near broke it! It drove me nuts. Then someone got sick, and with the influx of work I just never got to it, and tomorrow is labor day.. so it's been sitting half assembled for damn near a week now. I really do want to do some how-tos on it and show it off, but I do have to actually get it working first... you guys probably know more about that fucking thing than I do right now! Using the old shit to work when the zm-r6200c sits in the next room off makes me sick. One thing is for sure, when I DO get around to doing a video of it,there will be no shitty techno music, no VHS camcorder, no bullshit where my arm is blocking all the crap you want to see. I think it's an unwritten rule that all BGA repair videos must suck.

Thank whatever gods you believe in that you never had to deal with the factory rat mentality. It's primal capitalism, where the employer pays them just enough to keep them from quitting. In return, they deliver just enough value to avoid being fired. By the time I escaped to self employment I had to remain a one man show. I was terrified that I might inadvertently hire somebody like my former coworkers.

well you are right but I have bought Dell E6420 laptop with Intel i7-2760QM and 8GB DDR3 PC3-12800 1600MHz for over £100 and I have seen it as quite a big spend on something what may or may not make profit I decided to NOT sell it, but put it to use just week ago I purchased 16GB DDR3 PC3-12800 1600MHz for over £100 this is already over £200 just for laptop, which is not for gaming, but just for work but now I use this laptop instead of my server (which is re-purposed desktop: ASUS SaberTooth 990FX R2.0; AMD Phenom 1100T; 64GB DDR3 PC3-12800 1600MHz RAM; 6x 4TB SAS HDDs; 6x 2TB SATA HDDs; LSI MegaRAID MR SAS9265-8i; LSI SAS9220-8i; Intel I340-T4 and Chelsio CC-S320T) which uses 3-4KWh a day now I am using laptop for same thing, but I needed fast enough machine with at least 16GB DDR3 PC3-12800 RAM I think I can save this £200 a year just by not using server for this purpose and having it off

I have watched several of your videos. With a little bit of effort, you could become a very successful motivational speaker. Long term, I think it will suit you better than what you are doing now (your repair business) and will make you 1000X as much money. No excuses. Give it some thought.

In order to believe in what I am telling you to do, I have to make it work for myself. I still have far too many ideas that I have not seen through to completion, if I stopped now I would feel terrible and be unable to encourage others to do anything. I appreciate the comment, and will take it into consideration once I have accomplished what I have set out to do!

What is this obsession with "motivational" speakers. I had never been inspired by people who has been hired almost purely as motivational speakers. Rossmann is interesting to hear because he has his values and experiences and are using them right now. It seems like there is lived value behind it. I do not get that from many people that is called to the "field" of motivational speaking, including many highly acclaimed TED speakers. If you speak from a motivational perspective in my mind you are not engaging people properly, the focus should be some subject not motivation, though motivation could be A Subject. Here is another video i saw shortly after Louis did a video on risks and something a cannot remember. www.lynda.com/Business-Skills-tutorials/Making-risk-feel-like-learning/126132/361432-4.html This is one that to me seems like he learned by rote and are using body techniques unrelated to his own personality, at least to me he is thouroughly unconvincing and yawningly boring. Inside my head i hear, salesman only salesman only snakeoil snakeoil and he might be sincere as heck, but really, he doesnt seem like he LIVES his conviction daily. To me he is saying "let me tell you how to be better at risk change and change you behaviour to think of risk more as learning, I don't know how to do it myself, but im gonna tell YOU anyways!". That is the opposite of what Rossmann is doing (ps. i can find much better speakers, but if they "work" as motivational speakers, they are already working in the wrong direction). Ps. i really don't want to be hard on this guy, i only saw 2 videos with him and he might be really good.
