Can't thank you enough. I must have gone too hard at the start with the slide hammer and jammed it as it is well stuck now. I wish the 2 service manuals I bought could have told me ANYTHING worth while. At least now I know that I was on the right track, just got it cock eyed so can now return to the scene of the crime and sort from here. LOVE YR WORK GUYS, thanks again.

@@YepThatsIt well I eventually got that brg out. Swing arm off, into the shed and up onto the vice, little 8 lb hammer and using a centering tool from lathe as a drift And it was TIGHT all the way but got it, thanks again!

freezer is my favourite tool with press fit bearings, soooo easy. that bearing was really in there man.

Good step by step instructions, I fabricated a bearing puller to remove the old bearing with 6mm plate and 8.8 M18 all thread that straddles the bearing cup using a steel plate at the end of the thread to pull the bearing out. Also to remove the inner bearing race from the stub axle carefully cut a diagonal groove partially into the race only taking care not to nick the stub axle with a 1.6mm cut off wheel then use a cold chisel to flog the inner race off the stub axle. (You will need a bench vice). Finally the freezer method and heating the bearing cup works best to install the bearing leave it in the freezer overnight if possible and use a butane or gas torch to evenly heat the bearing cup.

Hi Guys! Nice clear instruction for the job overall :) Question ... at 8:00, getting the hub in - Did you freeze it???? It does not want to go in, and given it took quite some effort to get it out, there seems to be a missing step. You only show thumping it 'home' at the very end when it was almost fully in. Clarification MUCH appreciated!

hi, might`ve edited it out ? with any bearing that has large surface area or difficult install position, i like to warm up the hub and cool the bearing. it usually goes in easy. cheers

@@YepThatsIt All good ..... up to 8:05. However, remember when you pulled the axle out using the slide hammer 2:55 ?.... it tears the centre of the bearing out with it as it is SO tight. Getting the axle back INTO the bearing is a little interesting - the force used to push it back in will punch the centre of the bearing out the backside. The video shows no aspect of getting the axle back INTO the bearing :( Any chance of an update / additional video / info?

Never hit the short axle in the bearing to brive home ,you have to press it in with a sleeve on the inside race of bearing,so you don't damage the ball race on the outside edge of bearing.

Whats the difference between diff noise and bearing please tell me b4 i Drop it out for nothing.🤔also is it both bearings being changed or just the noisy 1.I cant tell which one it is from the drivers seat or if its the diff.Tia.

hi, we listen with a stethoscope while driving on hoist. usually bearing noise is constant, which diff crown wheel/pinion teeth noise you can alternate with speed/revs. cheers

Great video. I'm gonna be attempting this on my BF Falcon soon with a hub assembly replacement, but there are scarce resources online for it. I imagine it's reasonably more straightforward to do with the entire hub assembly as opposed to the bearing? Any advice?

hi, issue when removing the whole hub is that its hard to support in a press sometimes without damaging something. choice is yours to decide. cheers

One thing you never hit the short axle into the bearing,you risk damage to the outer bearing half ,other wise very informative.

8:04 So you just tapped the hub axle back in like that? is there any chance of knocking the inner piece of the bearing out by doing it like that?

we usually have bearing in freezer for a bit and/or you can warm up the receptacle to make bearing go in easier... you could knock out the centre of bearing, so make sure you tap outer race on bearing if thats what you are pushing in, or sometimes you will need to tap in inner race of bearing if pushing onto a shaft or hub. hope that makes sense cheers

@@YepThatsIt I've got the new bearing in, all i've got to do is install the hub axle so to do this I just tap it in? i'm afraid if I just tap it in it could knock the inner bearing race out?

@@grassyfieldz4578 stick the hub axle in your freezer and warm up the receptacle with heat gun or blow drier...it should slide right in

@@YepThatsIt I understand now, in the video it only shows you tapping on the hub so I assumed thats what you did. I tried the freezer method, had hub in freezer for 20 hours tried to put it through the bearing but it was the same as before i froze it, so then i heated up the inner bearing race and then it slid in maybe 1cm and became stuck. So then by using the old bearing race as a spacer and some other washers so it was pressing against the new bearings inner race i used the hubs own nut to pull the hub through.

hi, unless there is a circlip on it wont matter. i like to put the #numbers to outside so the next person can see them incase they need to be ordered. cheers

Isn’t it easier to remove the Sir clip then belt the bearing out with the Stub Axel than pull the wheel bearing off it

How the hell are you getting the hub through the bearing? Mine keeps blowing out the inner race on the inner bearing no matter what i bloody do. And you didnt show that bit. Only showed you tapping it home

Google where local to you has dry ice available by the kg and go get some, drop the stub shaft into it for half hour or so and then try to put it through the bearing. Will go in like a sausage down a hallway

@@YepThatsIt I just dont have all the tools. And to be honest when I was replacing the rusted rotors I needed a large pulley...which I didnt have...hence made the job much harder.
