Dave, it's so hard to 'describe' how to isolate the ground. I did a pretty good job like you just did on my video too. But it's SUPER IMPORTANT! Your right you will 'burn up' your motor controller if you dont check and isolate them. Nice video my friend There are so many types of wiper motors! DMAX motion sim ch

Hello question if i build a motion sim with just 1 dof (traction loss) would i still have to isolate ground ? I'm using ibt and arduino uno

Hi! I would say yes, because if you have your power supply grounded to the frame, it could cause an issue. Some power supplies have their mains electrical ground common with the Negative DC output. If the frame wont be directly in contact with the PSU or other electronics then you will probably get away with it. My first rig had a wooden plank where the motors were mounted to because i did not know how to isolate them. Hope this helps

The cable you cut is the same as the one in my car. Why did you cut that cable and add another cable? Do I have to do it this way too?

This is to modify the motor, so that the negative wire is not common with the body of the motor. You don't need to do this in your car. This is only needed if you want to build a machine which uses 2 of these motors mounted on a steel frame.

@@FaultyDaveZA I understand Thank you. I cleaned the oil from the inside of the engine and cleaned the oil from the inner arm. Now the wipers are working.

This was from an 80's Toyota Cressida. It was the cheapest one available at the spares shop, and it seems to be larger than other car brands as well.

@Faulty Dave cheers dave I've sorted 2 motors from Ford transits and have them working in my rig Now all I have to do is setup the arduino etc Then hopefully should be goo🫣
