For those wondering, basically it's just 2-part resin with some color/glitter mixed in, much cheaper just buying some quality 2-part resin. I love liquid diamonds brand or you can use art resin or little windows brand resin. You'll save lots of money.

Hi Ri Mi and fran zainal. Thanks for your comments. You're right that this product is not 'enamel', but it is 'cold enamel'. Cold enamel is a pigmented epoxy resin which gives the effect of enamel without the use of high temperatures, and also allows an enamelled effect to be applied to a wider range of materials and surfaces such as pewter, or even cardboard! In the UK, this is a standard naming convention for this product. I hope this helps to clarify this product for you.

Don't teach us what is this.The work with ANY kind of enamel is a hard work and necessite a big attention, experience. This is only coloured resin. That's all!
@franzainal
@franzainal 9 лет назад
+Agata Needlework you certainly NEVER used real enamel you would know the difference. It needs lots of time before you master it well. I do both and real enamel is an art that I still have to train a lot to master when resin is an easy craft. Try it, you'll see the difference. Anyway in France you can be sued by the state ( fraud inspectors) if you use the word enamel (even saying cold enamel) for resin. You may use this word only for something that has been fired over 600°C

Could I use cold enamelling to make buttons which will be machine washed? I knit jumpers but find it hard to get buttons which I like, so I thought of making them myself with an enamelling kit.
@HomecraftsTV
@HomecraftsTV 7 лет назад
Hi Roslyn. Once hardened, the cold enamel resin is quite resilient, so certainly has the potential to be used for creating buttons! You'll still need a blank to cover with the cold enamel as it's too brittle to be used as a button on its own - maybe try coating self-cover buttons with cold enamel?

This product is impenetrable, so water resistant, and in good conditions it resist long times. But don't expose this "cold enamel" at the sunlight.

A little bit more of a focus on the actual final product too would have been good rather than fuzzy swoop over them with the camera. I couldn't get a glimpse of the cardboard box effect or tile.

please don't call that enamel. Its is a tecnic of applying resins, I means plastic.....And it is a VERY EASY tecnic. .there is the same difference between resin (I'm glad it's forbiden to speak of enamel for this material in France) and enamel as between a child coloring a paper where he applies the colors following the numbers written and oil paintings done by painters. Enamel is a noble tecnic very difficult to master. REsin has only one difficulty : it can be toxic when you use it
@agataneedlework8818
@agataneedlework8818 9 лет назад
Fran , you are perfectly right. This is like liquid glitter and it looks a little unseriously. Ya, it is beautiful but THIS IS NOT ENAMEL! And you, mr. Abel Babel, don't thinck you are so smart it u don't know what is the difference behind THIS and Enamel.
@rebeccabramley4280

Pretty rude way of explaining your point.
@janevincent7103
@janevincent7103 5 лет назад
+@@rebeccabramley4280 I agree. What's all the anger for? I believe it's called enamel only because the finished product somewhat resembles it. Both are layers applied over metal, but the resin can be applied over other substrates, like cardboard, because there is no heat involved. I also agree that enameling is an art one must cultivate, but "cold enameling" is a craft most can enjoy from the start. Any skill, including cold enamel, will improve as you practice.

Just chill out - professional jewellers use the terms hot and cold enamelling to differentiate between enamelling with glass and an enamel like finish with resin. Now if a jeweller with 20+ years says that why should you worry?
