Finally a simple video on this. Every video i've seen so far talk ballshit for about 15 minutes instead of getting straight to the god damn point. Thanks
I'm a girl whose dad passed when I was 14 so there's a lot of things I didn't learn. Thank you for the help! I'm glad it's short and goes straight to the point.
Easily one of the most useful things my dad taught me.. Has saved me, my friends, and even randoms parked near me in car parks on a number of occasions! Invest in a good pair of jumper cables, keep them in your spare tyre area, and drive with peace of mind.
Someone asked me to help jump start a car, but I didn’t know how to. After watching this vide and following the steps given, I was able to help this person. Now, I am a hero😊😂
Sitting in a dead truck now waiting for my wife to bring the jumper cables. 48 years old and about to jump my first car. Thanks for the easy to understand video!
I carry jumper cables and I find myself helping others who don’t have them and are stranded. I always make sure to teach them how to do it so they know next time. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you!!! My friend and I finally got her battery to start after watching your video! We only tried for an hour, with multiple phone calls almost to give up. Your video saved the day!
Thank you so much for this invaluable manly skill. I always keep jumper cables in my car, and the last time I had to boost my car, I embarrassingly had the guy to do it for me as I was completely inept in knowing how to; no more of that! 🙃
I needed this video. I've always been fortunate enough to have the battery of my car die while I was around other men who knew how to jump start a car, but as an unintended consequence, I never learned how to do it myself comfortably. I always second guess myself and the thought of having my battery die and having to jump my car or someone else's, when the other person doesn't know how to jump start a car, has always bothered me. Thanks for this simple guide!
lol I got into a fight with an ex over how to jump a car. He insisted that we have to connect the ground cable to the battery. I never heard of someone doing that (my big brother is a mechanic and ALWAYS taught me to ground your ground cable. Don’t put it on the battery). Long story short he connected it to my battery and it destroyed the entire electrical system in the car. 🤦🏽♀️ glad he is an ex. Thanks for noting that people should not connect the ground to the battery. Apparently that is not known lol.
This is the only video I have seen yet that actually is correct on how to jump-start a vehicle. The set up is correct, the time involved in how long to charge the dead battery, and the time needed to let the two vehicles equalize after starting the vehicle with the dead battery is also correct. Well done! Don't follow these instructions and you may be calling me for a new alternator... Amazing on the other videos, shade tree mech's who know little about what they are talking about, tell you the science behind how "cool" this is to do but are going to get a vehicle on fire or blow electrical components (alternator for one) on the jumping vehicle. This video needs a much larger viewership. I am an engineer level master mechanic and this is the only video I would recommend.
I think it helps me to think of it like going in a circle with the two cables. Start with the dead battery, go around to the good battery and back. Starting with the red and then the black to return to the dead car black connection. Then just go in reverse order back around in a circle.
thanks! i never remember the order to do this in and honestly, get a little freaked out that i'm going to electrocute myself or blow the good battery. i hate unplanned death and explosions. great video!
I prefer to just push the car. In the past, when I had no money even to pay rent and my battery died, I drove for months without a battery... I always parked it on a slope so I could start it just by letting go the brakes
Hey....thanks for a concise video without talking it to death.(There are a couple of jumping videos on RU-vid that are like 8 minutes long. Serious!!) I hadn't jumped a car in a long time.....I wanted to make sure that I knew how to do it. I did. I wanted my daughter who just started college to learn. She watched your video and I supervised her first jump today. Thanks so much! PS...also got to teach her how to clean the battery posts.
He doesn't tell you about how the stronger vehicle can back feed electricity into the other car and Fry the ECU and PCM especially on any vehicle made after 2010
@@thecloneguyz Is there a reason why neither yourself, nor any other person I've spoken with, or heard discussing the matter has ever spoken about this? I'm assuming that what you're insinuating here is that if what you say is true, then no car made post 2010 can safely have it's dead battery jumped... Or something to that effect? Please do tell... I don't expect that you'll reply, but I'm open to correction.
@@MMAFightMagazine you are never supposed to hook up negative to negative when you're jumping a car because you can back feed electricity from the stronger vehicle to the weaker one Always "Ground away" from battery to metal - like car frame Where you got that you cannot jump start a dead battery I can't speak to your failed reading comprehension skills
@@MMAFightMagazine why don't you take a minute and Google jump-starting negative backfeed before making a dumbass comment that you're uneducated and trying to blame me for your lack of education
Its a well known song used often in RU-vid videos as it’s copywrite-free, gives a nice lightheartedness to the video and is unobtrusive to the dialogue.
Thanks a lot, I have a dead body in my car, and my car wouldn't start. Could you imagine the worse moment for this to happen? Technically you did help in hiding a body, you like it or not we are now partners in crime. Let's meet up, have more bodies to hide.
As a person who is scared if high voltage items, this one was great as a step by step play and folks. If your car has a oainted metal area. Just go ahead for the dead black on any metal part away from the battery! I used a metal tube connected to my engine lol! Worked great.
Never turn off the car you just jumped until you've had it running for a good while. We jumped my buddy's car one time and then he turned it off and we were like "bruh". So then we jumped the same car twice that day
I've jumped vehicles plenty of times, and I don't know why, but I can never confidently remember the proper steps. Thanks for the straight to the point vid! Subscribed.
You're welcome, I've been following for sometime, That "how to tie a bow tie" video helped out tremendously. If I ever can be of assistance, do not hesitate. Fraternally, Bro Mike
So, let's see if I can do this.... First step. Red cable on the dead battery's positive terminal. Second step. Other end of red cable on my right nipple. Third step. Erm... Black cable on my left nipple...? Fourth step. Shot my neighbor.
Irony of the Day: This is called the Art of Manliness, yet I already knew how to jump a car and have since I was 6. lol I'm probably the only one that found that funny
The other car seems to be an SS (Impala or Malibu maybe?) and I'd say those are pretty manly cars lol. Maybe the Honda is his wife's or something? Either way, I'd have to agree with Big Price on do whatever the fuck you want! Hater's gonna hate
Great turtorial ! my battery is less than year old. I drive my queen from time to time on short distances so batt goes down easly after a few travels. Had a lot of strugle with jump start cables and had to ask people for help... now i have jumpstarter powerbank so i dont have to worry if im gonna get somwhere or not. recommend a lot
I tried jumping a car not knowing anything about cars but a bit about electronics, connected the sucker to the negative on the good car and there actually was a hefty little spark. No explosion but it got the car going. But putting it on the raw metal of the frame makes more sense. As long as them electrons got somewhere to flow into, charge will flow into the battery.
