Connect the ground direct to the battery to have the best connection. The small wires in the cheap jumper cables make it take longer to jump start any other car.

Thanks for the video. I ruined my last set of batteries not being patient. Amazing how roadside guys don't know any of this. This video would've saved me alot of hassle if I had seen it last time. What battery tender so you recommend?

I use a battery tender 5 amp.

This made no sense - but it worked. 30 minutes cables as he said. I hooked up box to battery like he said. I could not get second battery open (tool).

Charley thank you for the feedback. I'm glad the video helped. Just remember that that Sprinter battery is so big it will eat up all the juice from the booster car if you try to start so by leaving it connected you allowed the battery to charge and therefore gave you a better chance on starting the weak battery.

I have always had to rev up the live car a lot then with it running fast start the Mercedes Sprinter van. When charging a battery on a vehicle I have always been taught to disconnect the battery else the charging will destroy the diodes in the alternator. .

Hi Tommy, For charging purposes, you can charge under the hood at the jump ports, on my Sprinter I'm experiencing a large draw/short so I made an adaptor that plugs into the cigarette lighter port and I slow charge from there. Jumpstart only from under the hood. _Randomfix
