I was sat in Sainsbury's car park trying to work out what to do, this really helped (at least the weather was nice and a very helpful chap saved my bacon). Thanks Matt! I should probably change that 8 year old battery :D Oh, and one tip. If you're getting someone to push the car (thanks Sainsbury's forecourt employee!), the steering is very heavy without power, so be prepared!
Lol, I’m glad it worked out for you. :) My issue in this situation is, I have an Auto, so I can get someone to jumpstart it :) I’m glad your battery lasted a long time. Mine is currently 10 years old (time goes to fast) Thank you 😊
Jump starting is a million miles away from where it was in the 90's, lots of guidelines, do's and don'ts, to the point 'a bit crap' we've just bought a booster pack, it's amazing, great video.
Planet Auto thank you :) I do have a trickle charge too, but since I bought it the power to all the garages were cut off :( lol. It’s amazing how sensitive cars are this day, due to the computers. I think all my dads BMWs thou when growing up had the batteries in the boot or under the rear seats. The 850i has two massive batteries in the boot :)
Planet Auto If you have Jump Started, from the battery in the boot, and damage has been done to the computer technology and electrics. Is this a problem that can be repaired or not?.
Love this video. Easy and clear. Though I wouldn’t try it myself with no one controlling me lol Well, at least for the first time hehe. A question- if there is no possibility to jump up the car after I park it after Ive already jump-started it,but I need to turn it on to go home for instance, what shall I do? Sorry for a confusing description but I’m not a big specialist of cars 🙈 Hope you will understand what I wanted to ask lol
Matilda Ivanova Hey thanks for the kind comment! Ok, when you jump start the car, you would need to take it for a nice long drive to help charge the battery up, let’s say for about 30 mins minimum. I also recommend that you turn the accessories off such as the radio etc so it helps the battery charge up quickly. Also just pray that you don’t stall the car too soon, if it’s a manual. I know that the start stop won’t work until it has enough power in the battery. Take care Matilda :)
1. Connect red to dead battery 2. Connect red to good battery 3. Conect black to good battery 4. Connect black to dead car bare metal grounding (bolt) 5. Start engine with good battery (run 2 min) 2000 rpm when starting 6. Take off dead battery black 7. Take off dead battery red 8. Take off good battery red 9. Take off good battery black
Hey man, i have F21 and i dont have key hole at my car. Also i cant remove that plastic. So i disassemble door handle on driver side, and passenger side also and a saw that i dont have any key hole. Why is that so? Thank you
Good one, thanks for the practical information. I like how you call the other car "the helping car" i always call it my friends car or that other car, my other car or something like that but now I know the technical term!
Hey, the best thing to do would be to get a decent trickle battery charger. I have a ctek one. Unfortunately where my garage is, there is no electric anymore. So I disconnected my battery. If I leave it connected though it does last 4 months on my car since I have idrive etc. to be honnest it all depends on how long you leave the car.
Hi What if i charge the battery? Do i have to remove the battery or not? It keep saying my battery is low, but when i drive around it does not charge fully, keep getting notifications for low battery Thanks
How long do you drive it about for. Maybe if driving for a long time and the battery is still weak, may need a new battery (if the alternator is still good). I took my battery off the car and took mine in door and basically refurbed my battery, as it was flat due to covid lockdown not allowing me to drive. After I refreshed it, it’s still going strong. It’s almost 9 years old (2012)
@@mattsbeamer i drived about 40 minutes and now and then still says battery is low, i was on holiday for nearly 2 months obviously it drained the battery, how long do you think that i have to drive?
@@tealeaf1215 I drive for an hour and it didn’t seem to help my car much, it was still low on power, hence why I charged it :) it’s worth fully charging it up before buying a new battery. It may be worth going into the secret menu to see what the charge of the battery is when driving. I made a secret video menu. If it’s not getting enough charge due to the readings then it could be the alternator. But I think your car needs a full charge first to see if the battery lasts long. If you replace the battery with the same spec battery, it needs to be registered. If you change the spec of the battery then it will need coding to the car, so the car knows how to charge it differently. I hope I made sense
