What an essentially valuable lesson! Great coaching, Chad! I’ll never forget the day I had my youngest daughter dispatch one of her own chickens after her dog got to it and didn’t kill it completely. She hated it, but she did it and I was proud of her not allowing her chicken to suffer. Surely RU-vid will demonetize or remove this video, but I think it is a very valuable lesson for all to know where their food really comes from.

Good Job both Dad and McKinley. I was impressed with the instruction as well as the completion. Im a small town resident so my livestock is limited to quail and rabbit. Well done. . Many years ago our herd buck (no horns) repeatedly stuck his head through the fence... One day ... the 4th time that same day... was enough. Hotshot zaps to his face until he pulled his own head out... HE NEVER stuck his head through a fence again, died of old age after many babies where born from him. Zaps not fun, but truthfully saved his life by doing it.

(Greg Judy regenerative rancher) had zero tolerance for even cows that got worms and now he has a line of cows that never get worms and culling your animals can make your life easier, you have to be patient and maybe cull a few generations. I agree 100% with you. You improve the land why not improve your live-stock. Now you have a (North country) brand of goat, a better breed of goat than what’s at the auction yard and more valuable. Same logic as whoever came up with the Ohio pasture pigs it was most likely one major breeders work and culling.

Good job, McKinley. It's harder for females to switch over from the feelings to the "get the job done". It's a difference in the way men and women are wired. This was hard for me to watch (as I had to kill animals, in a bad torturous and slow way while they were screaming for a surer long time) during my trauma in childhood but are people really that stupid about where meat comes from? And how bad factory farming really is? How horrid of a life and even death animals have on factory farms? This is MILES better then even the best factory farm out there. People, google it if you are that ignorant about it. I se zero wrong with this (or with hunting). I eat meat, how can I be against any sort of animal killing (even if I can't do it myself given my past)? But, factory farms where animals live horrendous lives I am against. If more got their meat this way and less the factory farming way, many more animals would live much better lives.

it all comes down to deciding what is important. If that goat that was putting its head through the fence, still had value on the homestead, there was a way to keep that goat AND keep its head out of the fence. By afixing a cross-piece of PVC or wood or rebar across the horns, such that the ends of tge cross piece is a few inches wider than the goat head and wider than the mesh holes in the fence , the goat cannot get its head through. IMG_0739.JPEG if you google search “keeping a goat from sticking its head through a fence”, there are plenty of pictured examples of how to accomplish this. It is a simple and effective fix. Short of keeping goats without horns, you will face this problem constantly over the years, if you have goats with horns. The solution i mention can save you valuable goats for the homestead (not feeling you need to put them down before butcher date was planned when you brought the animal to the homestead) , and save your fences.
