Hi Michael, Love your videos - great work!! We had a 640 sf cabin in the mountains at one time and it had spiders and mice when we first bought it. I brought in 4 or 5 ultrasonic insect repellers (from Walmart!) and that completely solved the problem. I know some say these don't work, but for us they did.
Hey Michael, I have maintained a number of commercial properties. I have never seen a repellent method work very well. But, these kill methods have worked for me. Mice are easier to get rid of, because they are dumb. However, rats are much more intelligent. I have suppended a pop can with a wire thru the can, horizontal, over a bucket. I got rid of several rats with this technique. I smear peanut butter on the can. The can rolls like a tread mill. Rats or mice drop into a bucket of water and die quickly. I also use sticky boards. But I always add peanut butter, bird seed, breakfast cerial or a dog biscut in the center of the board. One mistake people make is scrubing traps and devices. This repells rodents. A dead mouse on a sticky board will attract more mice. So do not change or clean too quickly.
Wish i would've known about your company. I got my crawl space encapsulated. They missed so many key points you provided. 10k job, and as an added incentive, i have mice now. They didn't remove the insulation full of spiders, didn't flatten the dirt, and the encapsulation itself is really loose. The owner of the company failed to inform me about these problems. As a new home owner of a crawl space home, i assumed he was well educated in his line of work. I failed in educating myself about a proper encapsulation, not until recently i came across your videos. It was such a wake-up call. There's nothing i can do at this point.
Hey Michael, I was a commercial lender and marketing strategist for years working with all sorts of businesses. You might want to consider some sort of a more formal relationship with a good pest control company (and / or one that handles radon remediation). You guys work in the same environment and run into issues that the other could help fix so it seems like a natural connection.
I agree. Unfortunately many companies in the space you described do crawl space encapsulation so it is difficult to form relationships where we feel we are not competing but are actual referral partners.
