How to keep your Career Mode Transfers Realistic 

The game makes it almost impossible to have realistic transfers but I use a couple of rules to keep it as realistic as possible. Some of these rules I came up with myself and some I picked up from some RU-vid accounts. I have a bunch of rules that cover other aspects of career mode but I’ll just talk about the transfers here Before moving on, here’s a brief note on how I rank contracts for players. This is important because it influences how players are sold. I usually play as Man Utd so feel free to reassign these roles to overalls that best suit the status of the club you use Crucial: 86OVR and above Important: 82-85OVR Rotation: 79-81OVR Sporadic: 75-78OVR Prospect: 75OVR and below (any player over the age of 23 but 75OVR in this example will be on a sporadic contract) You must review each players OVR and either promote or demote them to the contract that matches their overall at the start of every season. If a player refuses a demotion, you cannot give him a new contract unless they agree to the demotion You are only allowed to have 1 player per position on a crucial contract in your squad. This helps realism so you don’t have an 86OVR striker on the bench. If you have two players of the same position both eligible for a crucial contract, you have to transfer list one You can only have 2 players on important contracts per position for the same reason. You can only have 3 on rotation contracts per position. You are allowed an unlimited number of sporadic and prospects SELLING You MUST negotiate with any club equal or higher rated than your club. The system for rating clubs is as follows: Club average OVR- The positive or negative difference between the average OVR of both clubs. For example Man Utd have 82ATT 83MID 81DEF. You add all the figures and divide by 3. Man Utd are 82 rated. League tier deferential- Leagues are put into tiers to replicate the how clubs in certain leagues can buy players from clubs in less reputed leagues. For example a premier league team won’t have too much of a problem buying a player from the eredivise. Some major tier groups are: Premier League&Laliga (tier 1) Serie A&Bundesliga (tier 2) Uber eats (tier 3) etc. I have my own extensive list but you can make yours. Add the difference between tiers of the two clubs to the clubs average OVR European competition- Lastly, add 3pts if the team plays in the CL and 1pt if they play in the Europa league So for example. If Real Madrid wanted to buy a player from Man Utd their average OVR is 84 to Man Utds 82. They’re both in the same tier of league reputation and both play in the CL so I would be mandated to negotiate with Real Madrid if they offered for my player When negotiating, you are able to make certain financial demands depending on the contract the player is on Crucial: up to 200% on player value Important: 170% Rotation: 150% This is the last chance to try and price teams out from buying your player. If a club equal or higher rated matches the value you set, you must accept their offer You are allowed to reject any offer from rival teams BUYING There are a number of factors you consider when buying players. These factors all have figures attributed to them. If at the end you have a positive figure (from 1) then you can sign them. If the figure is less than 1, then you cannot sign that player. This keeps buying players realistic and stops you from just buying Mbappe with any team. The figures are as follows: Player OVR: The difference between the player OVR and the club. So if I want to by Mbappe who is 91OVR and Man Utd is 82OVR. That’s -9 Selling team average OVR: The difference between both clubs OVR. PSG is 85OVR and Utd is 82. That’s -3. Now it’s -12 League reputation: +1 for every difference in tier in league reputation. Man Utd is in the premier league which is Tier 1 while PSG are in a tier 3 league. That’s 2. The figure is now -10 European competition: +3 CL. +1 Europa league. Both PSG and Utd are in the CL so this doesn’t factor in Past prime bonus: +1 for every year above the age of 30. So that would be +6 if I was trying to sign Ronaldo. Mbappe is younger than 30 so this doesn’t factor in Compatriot bonus: +1 for every 3 players of your club of the same nationality. Utd have 3 players from France so this is +1. The figure is now -9 Old club bonus: +2 if the player is returning to a former club. Mbappe has never played for Utd so this doesn’t factor in Home Bonus: +2 if the player would be joining a club in his home country. Mbappe is from France, Utd is an English club so this doesn’t factor in Transfer listed: +2 if the player is on the transfer list As you can see the figure here is -9 which means I cannot sign Mbappe and must look for alternatives. This keeps things very realistic especially if you are playing with big teams that have large budgets

This is interesting, I like to keep my saves realistic but one thing I’ve always been bad at is selling players I had from the start/build a connection to in RTGs when they reach too high of a rating

You can't keep the transfers realistic, the player market values are totally off, and the transfer budgets are always too high because you get a bunch of bonuses and the budget doubles in value

Am i the only one that hates when o put a youngster on the loan list and i loan them out but the team doesnt play that player at all and he only goes up by 1 or 2.

That’s very helpful. I’m doing a create-a-club save where I’m attempting to do what happened to Glasgow Rangers from 2012 onwards, when they went into administration and got dumped into the bottom tier, but came back to top flight football in 4 years. You can’t do that with Scottish football in fifa ofcourse, because it’s only got 1 division, so I’m doing it in the EFL. I started with a debt ridden club, which still has some of its premier league quality players. The rule I have is that I can’t refuse a reasonable transfer or loan deal for any of my premier league players, so it will be interesting to see if I’ve still got any of them left after 3 or 4 seasons.

I think one missed tip is just buying football manager instead

One thing i really want EA to do is let us manage some sliders! Like development, total money spent, etc. In 2k you can do such a thing and it would be nice because it would make it more realistic. In my career after a fee years there are like 100 90+ players which is highly unrealistic

I always feel like talents grow way to fast. For example I bought Ricky-Jade Jones at the start of the season for my league 2 club (60 overall). Now end the end of the season he is already 68. So to keep it realistic I already have to sell him after one season...

Sometimes i like to simulate a couple of seasons ahead to change the club with different players. However i like all the other big clubs to stay the same. This was easy with older versions of fifa , for example to stop salah leaving liverpool for real madrid i'd just put in a bid but that doesn't work anymore. Any advise?

I always sell players in leagues above like if they are in Europa conference or champions league and I give the clubs a 1 advantage over the league above that they should be if they are a giant club for example I don’t have to sell to Leicester in Europa if I have Spurs because of that giant club boost from being in the big 6 but if it was arsenal whos not in Europa I’d sell

Sliders is my biggest tip. Its not fun playing that ugly arcadey style like ultimate team, and it removes the realism. if you slow down the game it looks more realistic and the AI passes more instead of just pinging it over the top every 2 mins
