This is funny, I invented this exact exercise for myself last week 😅 I’m a beginner rider and I’ve really been enjoying your videos. Glad to see I’m on the right track!

You should totally do a video of your subscribers videos and give feedback on what is wrong and how to improve! I love channels that do that 😊

Thanks for this lovely video, I am practising heels down on steps without any other balance supports just like you demonstrated (but not doing rising trot on steps), although I can stay on steps for 1~2 mins, but still feel wobbly and heels go up and down, not sure this is the right thing to do.

Yes it's quite challenging! It should get easier and more stable with practice so just keep at it😊

@@johannajequestrianphysio Not sure you could make a video about this and demonstrate what muscles need to use to keep the balance. Thanks in advance!

This is great thank you -it is very disturbing to see “top” dressage riders moving their lower legs constantly at the trot whether sitting or rising -and using the spur every other stride or constantly -it is noisy and disturbing for the horse and inelegant for the rider. You may also want to address proper saddle fit and stirrup length for both horse and rider -this will make a huge difference on rider alignment and the horse;s freedom of shoulder too a more balanced position for both horse and rider. A horse will move naturally forward with a balanced aligned and quiet rider , quiet hands and a proper saddle fit and without constant nagging of the rider’s lower leg . One can reschool or School a horse in a quiet technique-going off of the seat and using legs for lateral movements .invisible aids !

There are quite a few people making instructional videos on RU-vid who have very busy lower legs in the rising trot!
