Who's enjoying the series so far? What series would you guys like to see in the future. I was thinking about doing one on splits and of course I still have one that I'll be finishing for Poomsae. Also, don't forget to subscribe to my email list (link in bio) to get the free PDF that goes along with these videos. You'll also gain access to exclusive workout calendars, tips, and motivation...and be the first to know about exciting upcoming events. Become a part of the inner circle! I'd love to have you
jumps and turns would be awesome! Like, a series on back hook kicks, tornados, how to jump and turn correctly, tips/exercises for more turning speed and higher jumps 🙈🤩
Thanks a ton! I have the urge to want to go super in depth but I have to realize that sometimes that causes more harm than good. I'm currently working on a PRO Kicking course for experienced practitioners where I go SUPERRRR in depth with this stuff!
I used to be able to kick high but I was young now I'm working my way back up. your control is inspiring along with your ability to stretch. I was into martial arts as a kid. I got very good but wow I lost it from lack of practice as well as no stretching. I'm starting to get back to where I was as I get in better shape and stretch every day. your videos have helped greatly I hope in the next year I can see myself back to where I was and beyond! thanks!!!
I'm not even able to do the exercises in the most minimalistic way possible... guess sitting all day for most of my life certainly took it's toll on my flexibility. Been doing kickboxing for 5-6 years now and I am still only able to reach head level by "cheating" (not having a straight leg). Gonna do these exercises every morning now and hopefully finally be able to kick higher.
You'll get some insight into that tomorrow! If you head to the link in my description and sign up for my email list, you'll get a sheet that includes all of the different kicks I'll be covering as well as the stretches and exercises so you can follow along with the video or for when you're working out on your own!
Thank you Donovan. It really help. Can you do the double top charging in the koryo poomsae please. Got hard time figuring the best technique to do it right.
I am really, really looking forward to the side kick video ... My sidekick is still pretty awful, and its hindering me in starting poomsae competition since I am pretty flexible and have a good front kick, but my side kick is soo ugly 😂😂🙈😅
Side kicks are definitely harder than they look, especially when trying to kick high. I' really happy with how the video turned up and it will be up at 3pm EST!
Hey Donavan I use to do Martial Arts But I am a First Dan Black Belt and I am stretching as well I can do the side splits Nearly to the Floor Forward splits am ok at that but I cant seem to do a Vertical side Kick if You know what I mean so what Stretches should I do
I have a video just like this one on side kicks. If you have the flexibility (a good test would be to stand and raise your leg up into a high side kick using your hand to grab onto your pants or something. If you find you're able to stretch your leg up in that position with relative ease, you lack strength. In the side kick video that's part of this series, I give specific strength drills to help you improve that range of motion. Hope this helps!
@@donavantkd Hey I watch your videos all the Time but like I said am still Stretching Every day I have a problem with my Left Forward splits I cant get to the Floor Im stretching and stretching but am still having problems getting to the Floor
I'd say I'm more flexible than the average person, but my hips are so stiff and there's no flexibility in them at all, not aiming for such kicks, but great for my hip flexibility! Cheers
your kicks look good i did taekwondo for 50 years make sure you save enough money for hip replacements when you get older just ask bill wallace or chuck norris
This is unbelievable...! I’m at a point that i just want to give up. Training for 6 years straight. Still not kicking above the waste. Weird thing is that all other kicks that go foreward like the frontkick, i can do better than most at my school. Side kick and roundhouse... suck.
What the martial arts DON'T tell individuals is that year of training stretching kick tournament fits caused YOU major problems once you get into your 30s! Osteoarthritis worn out hips causes dreadful pain day and night you can't walk so YOU need replacement hip surgery!! So many men go under the knife BUT the industry fails to inform individuals of this GREAT DANGER TO THEIR LONG TERM HEALTH!
To be honest, I don’t really like your videos. I appreciate that you want to help, but you clearly have the genetics for a more flexible body (besides your hard work). Watching “how to be flexible” videos of a naturally flexible guy, is like watching “how to look better” videos of a beautiful girl.
Perhaps it would be better if he showed more accessible variations of those exercises. For example, the single leg straddle could be replaced with the cossack squat and even before that, the side lunge. Those are much more beginner friendly and help develop the basic strength and length necessary for something like the single leg straddle.
