A robe would technically have sleeves I believe - a tabard in real life I think was like a hoodless and sideless poncho that went down to about knee length that was cinched with a belt of some kind. Squires at jousting contests wore them a lot for reference. I am guessing that robe is probably the best description for the kind the points to a v shape when cinched together (it is in GW pieces) - sorry, rambling answer for a simple question but it is something I actually know a little about.

This was a while ago but I just got to these videos and they are awesome! Also to answer the question about the tabard, it's a bit complicated. Clearly the black templars are based on the real life Knight's templar, who wore what is known as a surcoat over their maille armor (they didn't have plate, and you don't usually wear this type of surcoat over full plate). The shape is very different however, where a regular surcoat would split on the middle, sides, and back, this is a long loincloth thing. This is not really a historical thing for knights, but there was a tabard in the renaissance that did have just a fron and back sections, usually also the arms; almost like a medieval poncho. Problem is, like a poncho, this basically at most reaches the bottom of the torso, not like a loincloth at all, and certainly was never something the templars or other crusaders wore. All in all, I would call it a surcoat because it's based on what the templars had, but it's more like a fantasy thing that people call tabards lol.
