Hello Everyone! Today's video I sit down with my roommate Jax to talk about how to know if your are genderfluid. I've had a couple people in comments ask if I could make some videos talking about being genderfluid and because Jax is genderfluid I figured why not have them talk about it! I hope you all enjoy this video and be sure to tell Jax hi in the comments!

My constant question for myself is "Am I genderfluid, or just nonbinary w/adhd?" I think being neurodivergent is a part of my gender in a way that I can't really separate the two. I'm curious if anyone else can relate to that. ♥️
@athraledagt5784
@athraledagt5784 2 года назад
I definitely can relate lmao - just the other day I was trying some things on with the goal to look more masc and then was suddenly like ‘ooh what if it had a skirt tho’ and 10 minutes later I was in a dress and feeling very fem - I like to think of it as my adhd sometimes switches my gender and sometimes distracts me so I don’t notice the switch lol

Hahaha this is a take I didn't realize I needed. I am very ADHD, and very much a Person most of the time who has no idea what gender is, and then occasionally I will feel like a Girl... It's very confusing.

My advice I would give is keep a genderfluid journal and document your gender shifts and changes throughout the week or day depending on how often you think you shift for me it's between 1-3 times a day. Who knows? You might start to see patterns! It's just a really neat idea I'm going to do now. And if you're still gender questioning this will be a sure fire way to know if you're genderfluid or not.

That seems a pretty adequate description of gender fluid traits for some of us. Sometimes you feel fluid, other times you feel cis/not fluid. You might even feel one of those ways for years at a time before it changes again. There are times I'm that way too (though more in the weeks or occasional months timeline). Gender fluidity isn't a set identity with specific features on a checklist you have to meet; it's literally different for everyone (which is why the "How to tell you might be *this gender identity*" type videos can be confusing sometimes!)

This is very interesting. When I was younger, I highly detested "girly" clothes and tended to wear a lot of men's clothes, and now that I'm a bit older I've noticed myself wanting to wear more feminine things, or at least less masculine ones. I was born female and I'm comfortable with that, so it's interesting to see how that "gender confusion" happens with cis people too. I really have to give credit for my neighbor because of this. My mom was concerned that I was wearing dudes' clothes all the time, so she went to talk to my neighbor about it and thank goodness she said "let her wear what she wants and see what happens." I ended up growing out of it, and I'm thankful that it was able to happen on my terms instead of being forced to wear stuff I wasn't comfortable with. I've also realized that my motivations behind dressing like that weren't actually about gender. It had a lot to do with ADD (basically ADHD without the hyperactivity), and my sensitivity towards uncomfortable clothes. It's incredibly distracting to have a scratchy seam on your shirt, or have pants that are too tight. For this reason, I used to and still to some extent wear very casual clothes. Boys clothes were way more comfortable, so for that reason I preferred to wear them. More recently, I've been able to find very comfortable women's clothes that I like a lot.

Okay a few other things are clicking for me now. First off I’m bisexual too and since discovering that the feelings of wanting to be more Fem sometimes have been stronger and more frequent. Sometimes I wish to be more fem presenting and considered being a bi girl or even lesbian. The shapeshifter comment actually really speaks to me because I always want to be able to shapeshift between masc and fem when I need to. Hearing from a gender-fluid person is actually really helpful too.

Thank you for this video! You're point about people figuring out their orientation before their gender identity really hits home for me. I've known I'm Ace for years. But I'm not sure if I'm Cis or Non-Binary and sitting right in between "she" and "they". Sometimes "she" is more comfortable, and sometimes less. Maybe lots of Cis people experience this. Maybe not. But thank you for this video that's helping folks like me figure things out!
@jadelinny
@jadelinny Год назад
Even if you're nonbinary, "she" can still feel more comfortable a large amount of the time. I'm genderfluid, and "she" feels right close to half the time, and it also feels close enough for about another 30% of the time. I still need to figure out that I want to do for that last 20%. :) But even if I end up using more than one set of pronouns, my default will probably mostly be "she".

I tend to lean more toward masculine clothing. But if I’m feeling slightly feminine I will wear slightly more feminine outfits but for the most part I wear guys clothes because they’re more comfortable for me. But I love wearing androgynous clothes as well. I think clothes should be unisex. If that makes sense.

The question I have is how do I know if what I’m feeling sometimes is masculine without being amab? Does anyone have any analogies or anything that can explain the feeling of it? Edit: ok, so I think I get it, it’s a journey, and as you learn about yourself you slowly find the words and feelings to describe yourself. I might not be gender fluid myself but I can figure it out as I go and experiment to learn and build on both my understanding and individuality, and use whatever terms I feel the most comfortable with:)

im gendr drlui myself i found out th eterm only a few years ago but for all my life i knew i wasnt fully male or fully girl or middle or non of them but around 20(i definetely acknowledge that i was not fully guy to myself ( so i check what i knew ( i didnt felt transgender cause i didnt feel girl all the time ), i didn twas a drag sause it not about showbuisness, its not cross dresser (cause from my knowledge back then it was mostly prostitution related/sexual stuff) and the only term i knew that could fit me was transvestite( cause to me they was male who feel like girl part time ) then around 2015 i found out about bi gender so i tough it fit me but around 2019 or 2020 i found the term gender fluid i serached it , and found out it fitted me so great but did came out to my mom as transvesttite in 2008 i think , during a verbal argument) about her trying to hide thing so people couldnt talk agains her caus ehe always talk badly o others in their back , i told ehr i was bisexual and travestite anbd couldnt have girls cloths cause of what people might say about her, i cant allow me to all deeply in love with a boy cause of waht people will say about HER then i when to my room i was sure she was going to kick me out ( i was in a ba financial state back then between jobs), i tol mysel what did i just do she will kick me out and take me out of her will. im sure of that . but about 10 min letter she came to my door and sayd " (deadname) you said somthing earlier i woudl like to talk about it calmely wiht out raising our voice, do you want come to tak about it i accepted ( i was expecting her to tell me i was kicked out i had to move out in a few weeks or somthing ) but it wasnt what happen she first aksed me a few question to see i i tough i might be bisexual or know i was bisexual i tol her i know i am i had sex with both sex. she took it well. then about the girl stuff we iscussed she basicaly told me she wasnt ready to see her "Son" dresesd like a girl cause he likes it , but i coudl do it in my room , and put my cloth in the laundry pail(since i was oing my own laundry) sh said that sh want me to us the drying maching for the girls stuff not the cloth line out oor and said if she has like pink brass an di havee some in my pail sh will clean it with hers no problem and a few month later in store she showed me a dress i told her its not her style , she said not for me(her) for you(me) i was suprised then she died and its after that i foudn the bi gener and genderfluid in october 2021 there was a party end of season party at where i was working for the summer and i was waering often kilt back then , (exept to work cause of drss code), so and i just received my order of a new kilt lgbtq pride so i worn that to the party , and the peopl easked me waht tartan was when i told them lgbtq pride i aded that cause my cousin is lezbian and i want to wear it to support her . but in me i felt bad to have to lie about m ysel so a took a fw ays to think about it , and decided it was time to come out so on oct 12th ( the day after the national comming out day) i came out on my facebook , a s a genderfliud (explaine what it was ) and pan sexual explained what it was ) and gosh i ha a lot of support , i was very surprised. it made me feel so good about mysel , now i dont hid myslf anymore i even when i feel girl work dressed like a girl , i like a boy i work in kilt and to me gender fluid is part subgroup o non binary so im also a non binary cause some time i do eel like neither gender , and its not a male or femaile so not in the binary gender retoric so now that quebec as made it possible to have gender x on our paper idid the process and legaly chagned at the same time my name ( i did a wink to my older name since it was a 4 letter name what i did is i used stacy as legal used name and additional name i had a name or each letter ¨(since my dea name was carl ( my paper name additional name have a name starting by a c a r and l , but when i selected the name i was in a girlish day so all name are girl lol exept one that can b gender nutral (the r)

I genderfluid between male and female, and bigender depending on the situation I will be in, and how much energy I want to put in. For work and family I have to go male. For outside family and work I go female or bigender because it feel just more me. My bio sex for medical reasons and passport (my passport is one thing I never change to X) is male. My driver license is non-binary, even been pulled over with it no issues.
