I smoked weed for about 4 years everyday 2017-2021. From about 18-21, it ruined my relationship with an awesome girl, damaged my relationship with my parent’s, ended up changing friend groups from my real friends to just “smoke buddies”, cost me loads of $150-$200 dollars a month, didn’t even want to go to family dinners such as thanksgiving because I wanted to sit by myself and get high, lost touch of who I even was or wanted to do. Well on may 13th 2021 I took my last hit and haven’t looked back since. Ever since then I have lost all the “smoke buddy’s” and got real friends back, got my $ right, got a good job, workout almost everyday, awesome relationships with my family, learned new skills, I can breath better now, im not always in my freaking head, I think pot should be legal but, it’s definitely not something I want to be around or use.

I am 63 and smoked weed every day for 48 straight years. Today I am 56 days without weed. I am not going to lie, the first 2 to 3 weeks were pure hell. If you are a long time smoker expect to go through withdrawls. After almost 2 months, I am starting to level out. I figure in my lifetime I have spent over $200K on weed. Think about that if you are a young person.

Same with me, smoked almost every day for 26 years, then god said enough of you wasting the money I give you, and like you said, the longer you have smoked, the longer it takes to get back to normal, 1 week clean for me, but the first 2 to 5 days was a living hell with boredom and my mind racing with thoughts and sleepless nights, its getting easier although I don't ever want to have to go through it again, an incentive in itself to never go back, once I threw away my pipe and grinders, God began opening doors for me in jobs and money, yes God is that involved in our lives

If you go through my channel, I’ve put up a bunch of shorts and longer videos that really delve into my experience so far and tips and tricks I’ve been using to quit. This is the longest I’ve made it so far and I’m right at about three months but I will say I’m finally at the spot where every once in a while I start to think that I could do it just once and be fine but luckily that thought passes pretty quickly.

I’m 26 and I’ve been smoking for over 15 years now and I’m not sure about it anymore. As I’m reading other people’s comments and stories, that 15 years seems like a drop in the bucket. When I smoke I get health anxiety and I’m starting to feel like the weed is affecting my cardiovascular health.
@Quittingtogether
@Quittingtogether Год назад
Hey, thanks so much for commenting! I actually have a lot of heart conditions and they got significantly worse once I started smoking weed. I never wanted to admit it to myself but looking back all my problems started getting really bad once I started smoking. You probably don’t remember what it feels like to not smoke as you’ve been smoking for more than half of your life. But this gives you an opportunity to start to find yourself and discover who you are without marijuana. It’s scary and will be really difficult at first but it’s so worth it in the long run. Make sure you subscribe and keep checking back so we can hold each other accountable! I look forward to seeing you succeed on this journey.

I just recently turned 19 years old, I smoked for the first time at 17 and only did it a handful of times until this year. About 6 months ago i decided to start smoking to cope with excruciating pain I was experiencing from a tooth that desperately needed a root canal, but after that, I just kept going. I've been smoking pretty much every day since then, and with my twin brother being a major pothead, and my slightly older brother also smoking everyday, it became really hard to escape. Living with consistent smokers makes it VERY hard to stay off of it, but i knew something needed to change. My relationship started to deteriorate, and my mental health was declining rapidly, and I've decided that I can't live with it anymore. I've played sports all my life, and after consistently smoking, I stopped playing a sport that I've been playing for my entire life, and even turned down a Division 1 scholarship because of it. In just this short time, weed has made so many impactful changes on my life that will have lasting consequences. Very glad I found this channel, and i'm hoping I can progress alongside you.

I just watched your first video and I’m so happy to hear that it’s stuck! A lot of your points about the excuses, instant regret as soon as you get high, the worsening anxiety… all resonate with me. I started in earnest when I was about 20 and had moved away from most of my friends and wasn’t particularly happy. Weed helped me cope a lot with that situation (something I found quite sad at the time) and like you didn’t make me a lazy stoner. I was still active, kept in good shape, went through a phase of lifting, and even learnt a decent amount of music (just as a hobby though). I even made it through law school while still smoking which comes with a whole host of challenges. Now I’m turning 30 this year and I’ve been thinking about how the main character in the Great Gatsby starts the book by reflecting on this milestone. Transitioning into more “serious” adult life (the age doesn’t actually matter but it’s worked out that way for me) and I’m finally serious about quitting. I want weed to be a chapter in my life that I can close out because there are no more new paths for me to discover with it. I’ve done all the challenges, shown that I can “handle” smoking and getting high and not ruining my life. Now I want to experience life sober again like I did up until my early 20s. Keep up the great content man - you have a great way of storytelling and clearly your message resonates with people!
@Quittingtogether
@Quittingtogether Год назад
Dude…. Thank you so much for your story. That’s a great way to word it! It really does need to be the closing of a chapter. I think of it as every action we take, is a vote for who we want to become. Every time I smoked , I was voting to become a stoner. To feed my addiction. Most of my 20s I watched pass by in a haze. Even though I was “doing stuff” I wasn’t truly experiencing it. Although weed definitely made music really cool haha. Thanks for commenting and keep checking back for more tips and stories!

Weedism is a thing, people want to act like it's not we call that denial. Building a tolerance and functional doesn't make it better than alcoholism there's functioning alcoholics as well. I'm just glad somebody is looking at the opposite end of weed, how it's "medicine" not saying it's not a medicine but there's no dose chart, there's no real rules as to how to dose weed also not saying people that need it for health reasons, different case but saying rec users might have a problem without knowing it is not an understatement.

I’ve gone through periods in my life (started in my teens) when I smoked everyday and I’ve gone years when I didn’t smoke at all. It was the daily use that became an issue for me and for many others.… I just became lazy, unmotivated, cloudy etc. unfortunately many people who smoke daily don’t realize how significant it’s messing them up until after they quit. And then after a couple of months of not smoking they see the light. In my life, I can honestly say I was waay more productive when I wasn’t smoking. God bless the rare ones that can smoke daily and still get shit done and be successful. I wasn’t one of those lucky people . Is daily smoking worse than being addicted to Opiates ? No way, not even close. Is daily smoking worse than drinking everyday ? I’ll say No but some may disagree. Even if addictions to other substances are worse, that doesn’t mean daily weed use isn’t an issue for many people. Just need to avoid daily use and people should be able to enjoy weed safely. Maybe on a Fri night can be okay. These days, I happily smoke once or twice per month (or less) and I have no issues with it at all. If I don’t smoke for weeks, I don’t even think about it.

Thanks for sharing your story! I am just about three months, free of marijuana, and I totally agree! You don’t realize the harm it is doing until you are free from it! And yes, there are absolutely drugs that are worse, but comparing just allows people to make excuses. “ at least I’m not on heroin.” Sure. That’s great. But if you don’t feel good with what you’re doing now, I should quit this as well. I really appreciate your story!

@@Quittingtogether .. my pleasure, happy to shed some light after my 30+ years of experience. And you’re right, it’s not good to compare. Weed isn't for everyone but it's not such a determent to everyone who uses it.
