That's literally what I have dreamed of. I always feel so limited when talking about mouse grip, it's definitely the system I'm gonna use going forward.
I have the same grip, currently using a razer viper mini and i am happy but i want to go for a wireless mouse with better sensor. Would you recommend the GPX ?
@@decadence6418 Ey, I also had a viper mini before handing it down to my brother. Movement was a bit awkward as viper mini was slightly too small for me. Other than that, mini is a certainly a good mouse. GPX on the other hand is slightly too big. If viper mini's size is perfect for you, I imagine GPX would be too large. Not the best mouse IMO, but overall still great for general usage & FPS games. 9/10 build quality, 8/10 shape, 6/10 size. Would recommend.
But isn't it really about how your hand adapts to each mouse as opposed to a specific grip? These tests are done with the mouse you're currently using, yet if you were using another mouse you might have a different "natural" grip that suits the specific mouse. Seems logical.
Nothing but the best high quality content from rjn, absolutely love it! my grip: Anchored Angled (no palm on hand so ig hybrid palm) relaxed fingertip Wheel tips 131 on my main starlight 12 Separated on most other mouse
I've always thought of myself as having a "claw-tip" grip when playing games. Well, I guess not _"always"_ since I had to like... actually look at what my hand was doing when playing a game before I noticed. What I mean by that, is the way I hold a mouse when just doing "Windows stuff" is _wayy_ different than how I hold it when playing a game. I actually didn't notice this until I was playing Doom 4 (2016), I think. I noticed that when I play a game, I grip the mouse really tightly with just my tips and my fingers were really arched. 1. Elevated 2. Angled 3. Uh... no palm 4. Claw ( _+fingertip_ ) 5. Behind... wheel ( _typo?_ )? 6. Together I wonder if anyone else has a different grip when they're playing games and maybe not have noticed?
I've come to this exact realisation, mainly due to discovering this youtube channel. In 'Windows stuff' I have a palm grip and I always thought I had palm grip (thus buying mice like Intellimouse Pro) but I am actually using the exact parameters that Zy is using ( ... also playing Quake for 17 odd years.. coincidence?). So I am thinkin the Superlight might work better for me.
This video really helped out and made me realise i use almost the exact same grip of yours, the difference is the mouse touchs my palm in the ring and pinky finger area not the thumb area, my mouse is a g402 but im saving for hyperx pulsfire haste
Becareful, don't fall for the light mouse hype, I went back to g402 from viper mini because I just could not adjust with light mice, I think 80-90gram for a mouse is best.
@@John-sp9if its not about weight for me i honestly dont like the thumb resting area i tried deathadder essential at my friend's and it was much better for my grip
@@John-sp9if Do not overgeneralize here. Everything about a mouse (except pure technicalities) is going to be personal preference. I am glad that you realized you prefer mice with regular weight, but the simple reason why mice have gotten lighter is that many people prefer it that way.
@@Tim_593 that's why I started by saying "be careful" I know its totally personal preference, but ytbers surely makes jokes about g502 family, its not right.
Anchored fingertip x claw hybrid :) My favourite are the White Rail, GPW and the XM1R 🗿👌🏻 (honorable mention: Viper Mini, just wish the LOD/Sensor was better)
Elevated -Angled - Hybrid Palm - Claw - Front Tip - 1-2-1............. wait a minute, thats only four fingers?! - but yes, my pinky is just flying around in the air most of the time Am i weird?
I'm using the Razer Viper Mini Anchored Slightly Angled Hybrid Palm (palm mostly doesn't touch the mouse) Relaxed Finger Tip Wheel tips (kinda near the bottom of the wheel) Together
Bro i thought it was normal but i have 2 fingers on the right click, my "f you" finger and my 4th finger are really attached (and i play piano lol) and i cant put the 4th finger on the side of the mouse, if i do a really hard scenario on kovaaks for like 15 minutes my pinky finger muscles (below the pinky) sometimes hurt becouse of lack of strength+tensing the hand a lil bit, but its really nice and in game i dont suffer anything
1: Anchored 2: Straight 3: Hybrid Palm 4: Relaxed Claw 5: Front Tips 6: Together. My credentials speak volumes of my aim gaming. Surprisingly, The Razer Basilisk Mouse has been the most accurate and tracking cleanly on a glass pad, but Razer Viper has been most flicky for good sniping and reactive aiming. Waiting for Razer to drop my main forever.
My hand is 20 by 10cm 1. Anchored 2. Angled 3. Hybrid-Palm but I often don't even touch a mouse with my palm (just fingertips) 4. Relaxed Fingertip 5. Behind Tips 6. Separated
This is a terrific video and overall, I’m using RJNs grip style 🥳😎 I must be an elite gamer 🤦♂🤦🤦♀ ….. kidding 😜 but in all honesty, for me this grip style is very comfortable and this guide definitely shows what pc gaming mouses to keep an eye for going forward. Thanks RJN heaps for the video! Legend 🤩🏆
Somehow I ended up having the same grip as you do. I prefer ergo mice with my grip (currently using MX518 Legendary - it fits SO well for that grip style), so I'm waiting on a Glorious Model D to come by.
Great job codifying the different elements of mouse grip styles. It is too easy to reduce everything to the big three of palm, claw, and fingertip with some hybrids in the middle, but this helps make it much more detailed and specific to easily classify and identify a specific grip style. Well done! Here is my grip style: 1. Anchored 2. Straight 3. No Palm Contact with Mouse 4. Relaxed Fingertip 5. Wheel Tips 6. Together Mice: Razer Viper Mini on main PC and Razer Orochi V2 for mobile/home entertainment use.
it seems like every single one of the best aimers have their palm anchored but for some reason i can only play elevated. i feel like i am at a disadvantage. anyone else feel this way?
1. Anchored 2. Angled 4. Relaxed fingertip 5. Behind tips or wheel (depends on mouse size, but mz1 still too big for wheel, so behind tips) 6. Separated
I just realized my grip is kinda inconsistent and is based on game. In minecraft I use an elevated angled grip with overhanging fingers, in most fast faced shooters I use a straight claw but its closer to palm in cs
1. anchored 2. angled 3. hybrid palm 4. claw 5. wheel tips 6. seperated I always thought I held my mouse straight but turns out I slightly angle my mouse
Anchored, straight, relaxed fingertip, wheel tips, separated. I have pretty big hands, and use a G203 Lightsync on high sens (560 edpi), and it feels great.
Here is my grip style: 1. Anchored 2. Straight 3. Only the same part as you showed touched the top of the mouse. The base of the fingers 4. Relaxed Fingertip 5. Wheel Tips Or Front 6. Separated Hand is 19.5 by 10cm Was using G102 for years. Awesome shape. Past 2 months tried Viper mini, but it was too narrow for me. Then tried Orochi V2. The back gets narrow too fast and my separated pinky was not feeling ok it was actually touching the mouse with my nail on the pinky. Then tried GPX superlight and it fitted like a glove. I did not expected that. Its still a big bigger for me I feel. A GPX Superlight mini of about 90% of the GPX would be ideal I feel. The feel on the scroll wheel is way better, though the press force is a bit higher than I wanted. My gridshot score in AimLab increased pretty much from the start. Was doing 51k with the mini. 53 with g102 and Orochi and went to 57 with the GPX. I know those are noob scores, but I could see a difference straight away.
Well I am Elevated Straight Hybrid Relaxed fingertip Wheel tip 131 So I am confused if I should put this in the category of Fingertip or claw? Please help!
1. Anchored 2. Straight 3. Hybrid palm 4. Relaxed fingertip 5. Wheel tips 6. Together Actual mouse: Steel Series Rival (the original Rival) A little big for my hand.
Anchored Angled Hybrid Palm Relaxed fingertip wheel tips it's a 131 grip, but with the ring finger on top of the mouse, but where the click stops.(all Logitech mice have this, can't aim with a mouse without sides to the click)
For the claw grip should the mouse touch the area of the knuckles or the part of the palm? Because if I put the mouse too far back it won't let me do the microadjustments
Mine: 1. Anchored 2. Straight 3. Hybrid Palm (only my carpal region touch the mouse) 4. Relaxed Fingertip 5. Wheel Tips (more toward the front) 6. 122 Separated (but not by much), my pinkie touch the mouse in line with my thumb (a bit forward relative to the sensor position), and my ring finger more toward the front ( right in the middle of my pinkie and my middle finger) GPX SL, 19 x 10 cm hands
ii think its important to note what mouse the user has. I use the benq S1 and before i used a rival 600 and g502 with each mouse depending on the shape i find myself holding it differently. anchored angled hybrid palm relaxed fingertip wheel tips separated
How hard is it to press scroll wheel compared to other ones ? I am looking into the same one but the only thing that makes me not buy it is if the middle button is hard to click , because I use blender and I use middle button every second basically . I do not mind the scrolling because I am used to not using it due to my current mouse having scrolling not working properly . Asking for s1
@@tyranuel its not a significant amount of force i would call it a perfect balance imo but you will find the scroll wheel is the weakest part of the mouse. if you want get a logitech mx master for creative work and a separate gaming mouse
@@LiquidMotionz I could get separate mouses but there are more important things that I want to save money for . Thanks for response , in most of the reviews I have seen about that mouse there is only shown the scrolling and not clicking , do not know if people forget that it is a feature or what .
@@LiquidMotionz I bought it and it is awesome , I do not know why people hate its scroll , click is perfect , sure the scrolling is a bit louder than usual but it feels awesome . Shape is perfect for my grip .
Hand 18.5 x10 1. Anchored 2. Straight 3. Hybrid palm 4. Relaxed fingertip 5. Wheel tips 6. Together Mouse - G203 (After a year of searching I'm right back using the model I started with)
Imo my type of grip favors type of aim style/game Flick shots are more steady with a hybrid/palm grip- csgo, valorant etc (low ttk games) Claw/fingertip more a tracking based game (high TTK ) apex, cod, battlefield etc
Step 1: grab a mouse... something ambidextrous would be a good place to start. Step 2: Play Quake 3 Arena for 20+ years.... then you'll find your grip... lol (just like we did 😁) RJN MY MAN!💯 I always luv your videos and have been playing fps's as long as you have. You are unquestionably the world's premier expert on video game mice. 💯 anyone who does not listen to this man to know PRECISELY what you need to know, should be taken out back and beaten with a bag of all the crappy mice ever made... lol 😂 just kidding on step 1 and 2..... (or am i....) 🤔 keep up the great videos my brother-in- mice. 👍
I adjust my grip slightly depending on game and scenario. The two best examples I can think of are how high I position my fingers and whether I use 122 or 131. For Apex and CSGO I use 131 most of the time since I like using scrollwheel for jump while not having to give up m1 or m2 temporarly. For games where I dont need my scrollwheel that often (for example diabotical, osu, titanfall, ...) or in situations where I need to hold an angle, knowing I wont use m2 any time soon (for example with awp in csgo) I use 122. How high I position my fingers is rather random. Sometimes I position my fingers higher up since it feels like it takes less force to click (sometimes helpful for spamclicking) other times I just stretch out my fingers a bit more and put them next to my scrollwheel.
Anchored, angled, hybrid palm, varies between relaxed fingertip and claw, wheel tips, 1-3-1. Hand is 20.5 x 12. Been using the g303 SE, but your search suggested the mm720, and I have been wanting to try that mouse out of curiosity.
Looking at the list my grip lookedthe same as yours... until the "separated" thing. I realised i have my fingers together on the side, so the part of my palm that touches the mouse is on the outside, not the side near the thumb. It seemed like a small nuance but its more interesting than I thought, how that changes movement.
For the straight vs angled part, which one is it if I tend to "twist" my hand (thus "curving" my fingers before touching the buttons) before grabbing the mouse?
(for anyone looking at comparing their grip to others) my grip is: 1. anchored on the right side of my right hand 2. slightly reverse angled (my fingers are curving towards my thumb but my mouse is straight with my forearm just not my fingers) 3. hybrid palm (only the front of my palm under my middle, ring and little finger makes contact, not the index and none of the rest of my palm) 4. relaxed fingertip 5. front finger placement 6. together (technically I do separate a little but only as far as the top and bottom of the front mouse skate) and I'm on the gpro superlight hopefully with enough people sharing u can gather enough info to make it even more specific and it can be used to get mice u kno u'll like rather than taking a chance on a $100+ mouse.
This is fantastic. As someone with a larger hand and just learning mouse grip techniques and what they mean, your video has been a god send. Can't thank you enough.
1. ELEVATED 2. STRAIGHT 3. Hybrid Palm 4. RELAXED FINGERTIP 5. FRONT WHEELTIPS 6. TOGETHER eh i aint unique in any way.... : ( _just edited the number issue thing : P_
Should I do this test when holding a mouse casually or when playing an FPS game. Because honestly Playing CS for long hours hurts my hand so that's why i am trying to find a better mouse for my grip
My grip : 1. Anchored 2. Straight 3. Hybrid 4. Relaxed fingertips 5. Front Tips / Wheel tips 6. Separated 19x10cm I don't know which kind of mouse I should pick...
1. anchored 2. angled 3. hybrid palm 4. relaxed fingertip 5. wheel tips 6. together 17.6x9.7 currently on the G pro, which works really well, but I'm always on a lookout for the perfect model
1. it's on the wrist rest. Because that's a thing I can't live without. 2. I didn't even notice I was holding it angled all this time. It's actually parallel to my wrist, but offset, depending how I'm sitting. almost zigzag if you view it from above. 3. Not sure? the heel of my hand doesn't touch, only the top half. 4. Fingertip. Claw looks really uncomfortable to me. 5. Wheel tips. It's really awkward to stretch my fingers any more forward than that. Plus it makes it easier to reach the wheel. 6. I'm going to say separated, but not by much. There's a noticeable bend to my pinky but it's not that far away.
