I love changing up the styles of my laces, and even putting beads and charms on them to spruce up my shoes. So glad to see people still keeping fun ways to lace up shoes alive.
We used to lace them up in different styles and designs. There weren’t a lot of slip on/laceless sneakers around at the time, and it was ~the thing to do~ so that you didn’t have to tie your shoes everyday.
No where in life is it written as a rule that you can’t do it anymore. If it brought you joy, then bring it back! Get some cool jeans and rock some shoes and cool laces. Life is too short and too precious 😉
For any one with a wide toe box skipping the very bottom hole helped me and I used to do it all the time as a kid and would put a bear claw nail on the hole as a charm for my high school
The way we came up with creative ways to lace our shoes, the way we sported duct tape belts and wallets, the way we signed and doodled on each others shirts, jeans, shoes, walls lol, etc… I think it’s cool how so much of our generation was able to embrace that type of creative self expression without the need or care for the hyper materialism we see more largely embraced today.
Dude, my shoes always had the checker board laces. 2 diff color laces into a checkerboard. I miss those days when fashion statements were how unique ur laces were haha
I am a grown ass 43 year old man. I wear Chucks, Vans, various brands of skate sneaks and I ladder lace them with my checkered laces in multiple colors. There really isn't ever a need to quit anything. You can't tell me if you saw a 60 something year old person in dress clothes and a pair of Chucks with checkered laces and graffiti on wouldn't be the coolest thing ever. I'm yappy, sorry, this will likely be the only interaction I have with you. But as an "old" dude, I am telling, fight adulthood when you can. Don't be in a rush to toss out kid stuff. Sorry to bother. Enjoy your day!
@bunnyg4464 nah doesn't mean you shouldn't do it lmao it's just like "woah". Like when someone says something crazy happened and you're like "no, really?" it doesn't mean you actually don't believe them
@@reharm_reality eh? Nah as in nah. Waste of time technique. Besides sneakers and converse shoes .... overhyped fashion items. Also this ridiculous bs about any which way being 'superior'. People so unskilled and incapable they want respect and status for weird shit. They'll even make up dumb shit. If ya wanna add backstory or meaning to my words. Go through more effort.
It might be 11:00 at night on a Sunday and I have school tmmr but imma try this Edit: nvr mind I left my shoes in the garage and that would make to much noise potentially waking someone up but I’ll try it in the morning 👍🏽🫠 Edit: tried it prob didn’t do it right but I prefer the normal way of lacing shoes 🤷🏽♀️
I'd love to do that but the black elastic laces I got won't look that nice. And my last white laces got super dirty after a month. I'll admit, it was kinda my fault for wearing them out clubbing every weekend but still, I couldn't figure out how to clean them properly.
Lol it's true when the comments say we used to string them up in different designs. Ppl used to do checkerboards and all kinds of stuff. Can't forget the different shoestring colors to match the outfit or sunglasses and stuff. I still love Chucks... Do the youths still call them that? Lol damn I am getting old!
I always used the lacing method where all the visible laces are parallel to each other. It's so much more comfortable than the standard, and much easier to take off and put on.
All of highschool 2018-2021 I lost so much blood circulation because would lace them like regular laces and the excess would be wrapped around my ankles . RIP circulation. 😅 Thank you for sharing this epiphany
