How to retain everything you read: 1) Take notes. Basically the act of transferring that information into another physical note taking device requires more effort. Thus, you'll get more time to processing that information in your brain which will make it a lot easier to be remembered. 2) Summarize. If you can't properly summarize what you have just read. Chances are you still don't understand it.

3) Revise because you will forget if you don't remember This law which has another name with the curve of the forgetfulness which shows our memory with the wire of time and the thing which we retain See the image of "Ebbinghaus curve We can see on the graph, 2 colors, the black and the green. The black : represents the memory when we leave the information in our brain without retracing it The green one : the memory that reminds the information to retain a maximum of information on the duration The recommended reminders are 1. 10 min = make a mental note of what you have just learned if you don't remember it directly 2. 1h = see if you remember what you read/learned if you don't remember exactly what you read/learned (a reminder at the next reminder date) 3. In the evening = before you go to bed you will remember your subject with the sheet (my reminder on the next reminder date) 4. D+1 The day after = at the time you learned you will force yourself to remember what you have learned if you remember you will go on to the next step otherwise repeat (my reminder on the next reminder date) 5. D+2 day after = You remember the subject with a lot of information if you don't remember go back to step 3 (I'll call you back on the next callback date) 6. D+7 day = you make a call back on your phone or send an email so that in 7 days you are notified with the subject you have learned (my call back on the next call back date) 7. 1 month = You use your memory to reformulate what you have learned to make sure that you have all the information (my call back on the next call back date) 8. 6 months = You have just received an email or a notification telling you to "remember the subject" and then the arrow comes back to you and you see all the information that surrounds it as you are able to explain it with a gasoline like a golf ball going into a hole.

I have seen the difference myself with handwritten notes. They are definitely better than typed notes. It may seem easier to do typed notes but it's clearly not as helpful as handwritten notes.

Yep I agree. I used to hate making handwritten notes because it took so long - until I realised that's the exact reason why it's more effective than typing.

What I have learned from your video --- Before you adopted these methods, you were struggling to learn something new. For this , you had a poor result in high school. You would forget everything after you had done it, such reading books, watching RU-vid video, listening to podcasts. And then you started to apply the following methods and your Learning ability has become much more better... Take hand written notes Question after a chapter Fynmen method Summary with own words. If I am not able summarize what I have read. Chances are I don't quite understand what I read After listening to podcasts ( take notes on Google/Siri)

Unused money devalues. Unused talent diminishes. Unused potential decays. Unused machinery disintegrates. Unused time dies. Unused knowledge becomes a burden. What isn't used is abused. The tragedy of life isn't the ultimate death, but the resources that die within you when you are still alive. Use it, or you will lose it.

3:30 idk if it will work, but for my exam I'm typing it up, but without looking. So I read it, try and recall it, write what I remember down, check if it's right, reset, do it again, check if it's right, once I get it good enough I leave it for a while. And then during my next revision session I write out all the key terms and try to recall it again.

my notes comment guys (skip, may lack few things) -the more you conciously think ab smth the more you gonna remember ab it -The illusion of competence is closely related to the confirmation bias: if we think that we know something, then we tend to over-respond to signs that we do understand, and under-respond to signs that we don't. more likely to remember notes we write with hand and not type -stay with one single educational video at a time repeating it untill taking all the benefits, try taking notes for faster learning, cuz we only remember couple of good informations in a video full of em when we watch it only once -i'll try letting my self know that'll have to summarize the content of a page in couple of lines before reading the page so that my brain gives it real attention

If you're wanted to learn thing in reality then stop searching about how to, just make a difference between you and your so called "comfort" and do the hardest thing which is not liked by you in generally (which you're wanted to) i know that it makes you disturbed but after some times you willl see a crack in your comfort and you think about it and it will make a big difference

Summary of each section (excluding the last one): The biggest problem with speed learning: The biggest problem with speed learning, as discussed in the transcript, is that it can lead to an illusion of competence. When people learn quickly, they may feel as though they have mastered the material, even if they haven't had time to fully understand and retain it. This can be particularly problematic when it comes to complex or technical subjects, where superficial understanding can lead to mistakes and errors. The key idea behind speed learning: The key idea behind speed learning, according to the transcript, is to learn more efficiently and effectively by focusing on the most important information and using specific techniques to retain that information. This involves identifying key concepts and using active learning strategies, such as testing oneself on the material and spacing out study sessions over time. The science behind speed learning: The science behind speed learning is based on principles of cognitive psychology and neuroscience. For example, research has shown that spaced repetition can help with memory consolidation, and that active learning strategies can enhance comprehension and retention. Additionally, understanding the structure and organization of the material being learned can also help with learning and retention. Practical steps to learn faster: The transcript offers several practical steps to learn faster, including identifying the most important information, using active learning strategies such as testing oneself on the material, breaking down complex information into smaller chunks, and spacing out study sessions over time. Other strategies include using visual aids and mnemonics to aid retention, and utilizing different senses, such as touch or smell, to create associations with the material. The illusion of competence: The illusion of competence can occur when people learn quickly but superficially, without fully understanding or retaining the material. This can be particularly problematic in complex or technical fields, where superficial understanding can lead to errors and mistakes. It is important to ensure that learning is thorough and complete, and that understanding is tested through practice and application. Principle of most effort: The principle of most effort suggests that focusing on the most important information and putting in the most effort into learning that information can lead to the greatest gains in learning and retention. This involves identifying key concepts and focusing on those, rather than trying to learn everything at once. It also involves using active learning strategies to engage with and practice the material.
