Taking Melee step by step is so important. At first I tried to learn wavedashing, wavelanding L-cancelling and combos at the same time, that didn't go too well

I been watching melee since ultimate come out and I love the butterflies when you see a pro do something never done before. Slippi going to make it way easier to play especially in Perth Australia where crt and game cubes are rare.

2:30 Personally, I don't really mind getting bodied by really good players on unranked. Just yesterday I ran into Medz, got like 4 stocked every game but watching through those replays has made it really easy for me to see bad habits of mine and how he exploited them (I'm a fox main too, so I can just yoink a lot of his stuff). What's frustrating is when you can tell someone's bad at the game and you still get bodied, that shit's demoralizing lmfao

This seems a lot like how chess players do puzzle scenarios to figure out how they should handle certain situations

I got into competitive smash through smash 4 and eventually dropped it for a few years until eventually i came back to learn more traditional fighting games like street fighter 6, tekken, guilty gear, etc. I recently came back to catch up on competitive melee and watched the smash summit 11 grand finals with mango and zain and i was blown away. Immediately i downloaded slippi and started trying to learn the game and play online but i just got tossed around like a ragdoll the entire time. Found this video and im so excited to actually learn how to play melee and hop back on slippi

I know Leffen is a good guy because he didn't load this video up with ads. He would have been fine to do so, but the fact that he didn't shows what his real interests are--supporting the game we love.

I've always tried to get start melee,but I was always intimidated by things like punishing,L-canceling,wave-dashing,knowing when to do the right option or what the heck neutral even is. But I think this video has given me the confidence to try it out. Nice video Leffen

Went from ultimate to melee to a hybrid player who plays both games. Low key been having more fun playing Melee because of the training that I can do, this mod helps me with my movement tremendously. Also the online is 100% smoother.

I've been watching streamers for some time now and I've just recently started to get into ssb. I know nothing about any of the games but I enjoy watching melee tournaments and it's pretty fun to play even when you know literally no shit about anything. It's a pretty cool game and I want to start playing and getting better at it.

Yes! Been waiting for this for a while! I've been playing ultimate for the past year and have lost the feel for melee and it doesn't feel as natural as it used to when I played for 4 years. Can't wait to start the grind!

Nice vid, glad you're making this for the newer players. Training Mode 3.0 will be free eventually though, it's just in alpha at the moment and I don't blame UncP for a second for making a few Ps off the Alpha. Rollback doubles is incredible as well, this will get Armada back! Go for his soft spot, his weakness... his bruddah.

Was gonna pour a lot of hours into melee after being hyped from ludwigs tourney to everyone re watching the old doc and watching the new one. This makes me so happy to know if I am doing these techniques right.

I’ve played this game off and on for like 8 years, and the last 2 weeks with UnclePunch 3.0 has seen bigger improvement than my first 8 years. Just being able to get a response from the game that I did a tech correctly like L Canceling had me hitting 90% with falco in a few sessions

Amazing what’s out there for tools. When I wanted to learn melee all I had was a GameCube and my feet holding down the P2 shield while I practiced shield pressure. Lol

This is godlike, I was subbed to unclepunch on Patreon for a few months back when it first dropped but I stopped playing melee for a long time until slippi came out. Looks like Imma have to sub again to grab this new version I'm still rocking like 1.0 lol

In sfv top level players sit in waiting rooms with recording an opponents options and just labs things out for hours on end. For melee this is amazing to see!

Proper lab & training mode for fighting games. I am not a fg player but when I watch video of Daigo use random playback to train his reaction speed, I was amazed by it.

Duuuude, this is THE way you do a tutorial!, i wished someone did an interview to the guy who created the concept, this is amazing! hopefully core-a gaming or press back to block see's this and talk about it in the future, shit men, the melee community really is the best community, hopefully (only in my dreams), nintendo, or specifically speaking, sakurai takes note on the thing this community has done for the game, the rollback implementation, this tutorial perfection (i do really hate the fact that i cannot practice precise movements with automation in ultimate, that gameplay really is confusing for the shitass buffer, that shit buffer deserves a tutorial by it's own lol), this is beautiful, melee will NEVER die!

my favorite part is when you said "level 15, how to get armada to play melee again."

I probably already wave dash but don't even realize it was something special. I do so much trigger rolling and air dodging. But honestly I'm more into Brawl as much as I did love Melee. My first taste was 64. I still haven't played the latest one. Nintendo said they want people to focus on the more recent titles. And they said we get away with so much as far as emulation, etc that they feel like it's some bullshit. But yeah if I had some time on my hands in Quarantine I would go for it. Melee has a cleanness and finish to it. It's almost as endless as the event horizon on Final Destination.
