Plan with me as I'l be lesson planning for the entire school year in this video.
Lesson planning takes up a huge role in our teaching career. Not to mention, you'll never know if lesson plans will go the way you want.
As a first year teacher, I needed to learn how to lesson plan for the school year (also known as a scope and sequence) before I actually planned mini lessons.
In this lesson planning 101 video, I discussed how to lesson plan for first year teachers. Moreover, i hope these teacher tips will help all the new teachers out there.
I find that knowing how to plan lessons for the school year can help guide along your year.

I love your videos! I want to become a teacher now. I’ve registered for my classes but they were cancelled. Would you happen to know of any colleges that provide a teaching degree online? Hey Maya, this is probably a long shot but is it possible if you can put closed captions on your videos (not the auto-generated one because those aren't accurate)? I'm hard of hearing, and sometimes it's hard to understand some words.

Are pretests used as a review? We have pre- assessments which I have used when we begin a unit to see what they may know or have learned. However, I found pre assessments are not as effective as I hoped.

This video was extremely helpful. Just wondering.. have you ever had to lesson plan with all the second grade staff and teach the same lesson plans as they are? I hope my question makes sense.

Hi Lis! I teach 5th grade and my grade level is departmentalized so I don't have to collaborate with anyone -- but when I was student teaching in 4th grade, all of the 4th grade teachers had to meet every week and make sure they taught the same lesson the same day as their colleagues. It was nice to know you weren't alone, but it also got tedious because you didn't feel like your lessons were truly/completely your own!

Maya Lee Thanks for the information! I was “panicking” just thinking of having to collaborate with teachers so often. Not that it’s a bad thing but as an introverted future teacher I’d rather make my own lesson plans alone LOL

Retainer club! & sometimes I do, but this scope and sequence planning where I map out the entire year really helps lessen my load as the year progresses :)
